 Answer one full question from each unit.

UNIT - I
1. a) For the circuit shown in Fig. 1(a), Use mesh analysis to find ix. CO1 (08)

b) Using nodal analysis, find voltage at node ‘1’ with respect to the CO1 (08)
reference for the circuit shown in Fig. 2(b).

3. a) Find the current in 8Ω for the circuit shown in Fig. 3(a) using CO2 (10)
superposition theorem.

usefulness of these two theorems with an example.

4. a) Find the Thevenin equivalent for network A and compute the power CO2 (07)
delivered to the load for the circuit shown in Fig. 4(a).

b) Describe the maximum power transfer theorem, and deduce the CO2 (07)
condition for maximum power transferred to a load resistance RL in an
AC circuit generator having complex source impedance.
c) Using Millman's theorem find IL through RL for the network shown in CO2 (06)

5. a) Explain the transient behavior of resistance, inductance and capacitance. CO3 (06)
b) Derive the transient response of series RL circuit for DC excitation. CO3 (10)
c) For a series RLC circuit with R=100Ω, L=0.01H, c=0.01µF and it is CO3 (04)
connected across 10mV supply. Calculate fo, quality factor, Bandwidth,
f1& f2.

6. a) In the circuit shown below, the switch s is moved from a to b at t=0, find CO3 (10)
values of i, di/dt, di2/dt at t=0+ , if R=1ohm, L=1H, C=0.1µf and
V=100 V assume steady state is achieved when K is at a.

b) Define quality factor and bandwidth. Also establish the relationship CO3 (05)
between them in a series resonance circuit.
c) Compare series and Parallel Resonance condition with relevant CO3 (05)
characteristics equations and condition.

7. a) Obtain expression for a periodic waveform and hence prove that CO4 (10)
