prayer.”

 Greetings
“Good morning, grade 10 Fidelity!” “Good morning, ma’am Vargas.”

“Before you take your seats, kindly pick up (Students will pick up the trash and arrange

parts of the circle?” and arcs.”

“Very good, it looks like you still remember

what we have discussed.”

B. Motivation
“Class, before we proceed with our agenda
today, let’s take a look at this picture.”

“What shape do you see in this image?” "Ma'am, it's a circle!"

"Ma'am, it looks like a Ferris wheel, which

is a big circle."

“If we connect two points on the circle (two "Ma'am, it might look like a triangle."

“Very well observation.”

“Do you think there’s a relationship between "Ma'am, maybe the size of the angle

created by the two points?”
"Ma'am, I think the angle is smaller than the
arc because it’s farther from the center."

“From the ferris wheel presented, when we "Ma'am, it’s an inscribed angle!"

edge of the circle."
"Great observations, everyone! So, we've
looked at this Ferris wheel and you’ve
noticed how we can draw angles and arcs by
connecting points on the circle.”

C. Lesson Proper

“Okay, today, based from your observations, "Ma'am, I think we’ll be learning about

Any idea?”
"Ma'am, are we going to learn about
inscribed angles?"
“Okay, very good observation.”

“Today we are going to discuss the inscribed

angle and the intercepted arc.”

Introduction

First, let us determine what an inscribed

angel is.

“Who wants to read the definition of (A student will read the presentation)
inscribed angle?”

Inscribed Angle – an angle whose vertex is “Inscribed Angle – an angle whose vertex
on a circle and whose sides contain chords of is on a circle and whose sides contain
the circle. chords of the circle.”

“When we say inscribed angle, it is an angle

formed by two chords in a circle that share
an endpoint on the circle.”

The arc that lies in the interior of an “The arc that lies in the interior of an
inscribed angle and has endpoints on the inscribed angle and has endpoints on the

angle. angle.”

“Thank you for reading.”

“This endpoint is known as the vertex of the

angle. The other endpoints of the chords lie
on the circle and form an intercepted arc
between them.”

“So, there are three ways or cases in which

an angle can be inscribed in a circle.”

“Let’s have an example.”

Examples:
“In our first circle, what can you noticed “Ma’am, one of the line segment passes at
about the angle in the circle? the center of the circle.

“Exactly!”

Then, what is our inscribed angle here?” “Angle DRT, ma’am”

“Okay, good, that is correct. How about its “Arc DT, ma’am.”
intercepted arc?”

“Very good! In our first circle or the first

case of an inscribed angle is that, the center
of the circle is on one side of the inscribed
angle.”

“Next we have another circle, what have you “Ma’am, the angle is on the side.”
noticed in the angle inside the circle?
“The center of the circle is outside the angle,
 ma’am.”

“Very good observation.”

“So in the second case of inscribed angle, the

center of the circle is on the exterior of the
inscribed angle.”

“What is the angle and intercepted arc here?” “Angle ABC and the arc intercepted by that
angle is arc AC.”

“Very good! That is correct.”

“In the third case, The center of the circle is

in the interior of the inscribed angle.”

“Again, identify the inscribed angle and its “Angle ABC and the arc is arc AC.”
intercepted arc.”

“That is correct.”

“Any question, regarding inscribed angle and “None, ma’am.”

its intercepted arc?”

“Now, let’s discuss some theorems related to

inscribed angles and intercepted arcs.”

“Kindly read, the first theorem.”

Theorem 1: If an angle is inscribed in a “Theorem 1: If an angle is inscribed in a

circle, then the measure of the angle equals circle, then the measure of the angle equals
one-half of the measure of its intercepted arc. one-half of the measure of its intercepted
arc.”

∠CDB =

Intercepted Arc: In the figure on the left,

angle CDB is an inscribed angle and arc CB
is its intercepted arc.

Example:
 If the measure of CB^ is 120, then “The measure of angle CDB is 60, since
what is the measure of angle CDB? one-half of 120 is 60.”

“Exactly, very good.”

“Next theorem, kindly read.”

Theorem 2: If two inscribed angles of a “Theorem 2: If two inscribed angles of a

congruent.”
∠EDB and ∠ECB intercepts ^ EB . Since “∠EDB and ∠ECB intercept ^
∠EDB and ∠ECB intercept the same arc, ∠EDB and ∠ECB intercept the same arc,
EB . Since

the two angles, then, they are congruent. the two angles, then, are congruent.”

 If ∠EDB measures 60 degrees, then “If ∠EDB measures 60 degrees, then the

what is the measure of ∠ECB? measure of ∠ECB is also 60 degrees since

both angle intercepts the same arc.”

“Very good. Then what is the measure of its “The measure of its arc is 120 degrees.”
arc?”

“Okay, that is correct.”

“Let’s proceed to theorem number 3”

Theorem 3: If an inscribed angle of a circle “Theorem 3: If an inscribed angle of a

intercepts a semi-circle, then the angle is a circle intercepts a semi-circle, then the angle
right angle. is a right angle.”

∠XYZ intercepts ^
semi-circle, then ∠XYZ is a right angle.
ZX . If line segment zx is a

“What is the measure of the right angle?” “The measure of the right angle is equal to
90 degrees.”
“Very good!”

“Please read, theorem 4.”

Theorem 4: If a quadrilateral is inscribed in “Theorem 4: If a quadrilateral is inscribed

a circle, then its opposite angles are in a circle, then its opposite angles are
supplementary. supplementary.”
“What have you noticed in theorem 4? “Ma’am, there are 4 angles.”

“What are the opposite angles here? “∠BCD and ∠DAB, ma’am.”

“∠ABC and ∠ADC”

“So here we have quadrilateral ABCD that is
inscribed in circle X.

m∠BCD + m∠DAB = 180

“m∠DAB is 80 degrees, since 180-100 is 80,

Example:

what is m∠DAB?
 If m∠BCD is equal to 100 degrees,
and 80+100 is equal to 180 degrees.”

“Very Good! Any questions about the “None so far, ma’am.”

inscribed angle and its intercepted arc?”

“Then, let’s try this, raise your hands if you

want to answer.”
 Given the circle, find the measure of
the following angles and arcs.

“Angle ECB is congruent to angle EBD.”

“Angle CBD is congruent to angle CED

“108 degrees ma’am,.”

“Which inscribed angle is congruent?”

“Very good!” “48 ma’am.”

“If ∠BED is equal to 54 degrees, what is the

measure of arc BD?

Okay, that’s correct.”

of ∠CBD?”
“If arc CE measures 96, what is the measure
“No more questions, ma’am.”

“Very good everyone, it seems that you

already know how to determine an inscribed
angle is and its relation to the intercepted
arc.”
“Do you have questions or clarification
regarding our discussion?”
