Now, I will show to you a different disaster

Okay very good, looks like you’ve really

understood our topic yesterday
So, let’s move on to our next topic.
ENGAGE
Motivation:
Before we proceed, we will be having a
short activity before we start our lesson

In this activity, I will divide you into two

groups. Each group will act out a different
scenario. You will pick one scenario from a
box, and then you need to act it out.

( group 1
Very good, group 1… let’s give them a acting )

Did you know how to do a fireworks clap?

Well then , let me do it first and then let’s No, teacher

do it together!, understood class?

class, have you ever experienced an

earthquake?

Yes, teacher
what was your rection when that
EXPLAIN happened?

Would you like to share your experienced? (students will

share their
experienced)
Thank you for sharing your experiences

Have you ever wondered how does

earthquake occur?

Let’s define what is an EARTHQUAKE?

Will you please read, Cecilia Cecilia: a sudden

a sudden shaking of the ground that occurs shaking of the
when tectonic plates move along a fault ground that
line in the Earth's crust occurs when
tectonic plates
move along a
fault line in the
Earth's crust

The epicenter of an earthquake is the

surface expression of the earthquake.
It is located directly above the focus or
hypocenter of the earthquake.

Faults A fault is a fracture or zone of

fractures between two blocks of rock. Faults
can be centimeters to thousands of
kilometers long, and can be vertical,
horizontal, or at an angle to the surface

There are three types of faults, we have the

REVERSE FAULT, NORMAL FAULT AND
STRIKE-SLIP FAULT.

First, the REVERSE FAULT- A reverse fault,

also known as a thrust fault, is a type of
fault where the block of rock above the
fault plane moves up and over the block REVERSE FAULT-
below A reverse fault,
also known as a
thrust fault, is a
type of fault
where the block
of rock above
the fault plane
moves up and
over the block
below

Next, we have the NORMAL FAULT- a type of

fault that occurs when a block of rock
above an inclined fault moves downward
relative to the block below
a type of fault
that occurs when
a block of rock
above an
inclined fault
moves
downward
relative to the
block below

And the last one is the STRIKE-SLIP FAULT-

vertical or nearly vertical fractures in the
Earth's crust where two blocks of rock slide
past each other horizontally vertical or nearly
vertical fractures
in the Earth's
crust where two
blocks of rock
slide past each
other
horizontally

Earthquake may happen at any time in the

world, so it is important for us to know how
to become prepared before, during and
after the earthquake

So, I have prepared here some safety

measures and procedures to be done
before, during and after an earthquake

 BEFORE
o Prepare a kit: Have a disaster
emergency kit .(what do you
should we put inside our
emergency kit?)
Teacher, a
o Secure objects: Anchor heavy flashlight,
furniture, appliances, and batteries, can
hanging plants to the walls or foods, radio,
floor. map, phone,
o Make a plan: Know where to
meet your family and how to
get out of your home, car, and
workplace.
 DURING
o Drop, cover, and hold on: If you're
indoors, drop to the ground, cover
your head and neck, and hold onto
a sturdy object.
o Stay put: If you're indoors, stay put
until the shaking stops and it's safe
to leave.
o Avoid windows: Stay away from
windows, exterior walls, and objects
that could fall.
o If you're driving: Pull over and
stop, and avoid bridges,
ELABORAT
E overpasses, and anything that
could fall on your car.
 AFTER
o Proceed with caution: Once the
shaking has stopped, proceed with
caution and avoid bridges or
ramps.
o Turn off utilities: Learn how to turn
off the gas, water, and electricity.

PAIR ACTIVITY

We will have a pair activity and it’s called

Fault Line Investigation

I will Distribute Fault Line Activity sheets

with diagrams of the three types of faults.
And then you will work in pairs to label the
diagrams, identify the type of fault in each
example, and describe how the movement
occurs.
