TITLE/TOPIC: Imaging and Design

CONTENT BACKGROUND:

Basic Image Manipulation Software


Photo editing and designing tools allow you manipulate or edit images, apply,
effects, filters, add frames, crop, add text, change background color, make photo
collage, and photo album that you would like to do in an image.
Basic Image Manipulation Software/ Web
1. Picasa – Picasa is Google’s Free photo manager to edit and organized your
photos. It has tools for photo editing like crop, straighten, and rotate, red-ryr
removal, contrast and filters.
2. Paint.net – It is a windows-based alternative to the MS Paint editor. It is a
free and open source available in windows. It can be used for photo editing
like recolor, color, text, edit, rotate, multiple layers, and other photo editing
work.
3. Google Sketch Up – It is a free, 3D-modeling program with tools that allow
you to create 3D models of houses, home renovation, woodworking, projects,
and others with dimensional accuracy.
4. Autodesk Pxlr - It is a free photo editing tool that is similar to Photoshop and
has more than 600 effects, overlays, and borders that you can use.
5. Adobe Photoshop – It is a tool to create, modify, combine and optimize
digital photos and images. It used to perform changes such as adjusting
brightness and contrast of the images, combines different image elements
and keeps your images organized.
6. GIMP – GIMP or GNU Image Manipulation Program is a free, open-source
image/graphics editing program used for image retouching and editing, free-
form drawing/painting, and other specialized tasks.

Since we’re in 21st century and commonly used Smartphone for editing. Here
are some application you can get in Google Playstore for free and you can explore it
in your smartphone and use the different techniques and principles in editing image.

An image hosting service allows you to upload images to an Internet website.
The image host will then store the image onto its server, and shows the different
types of code to allow others to view and share that image.
Image hosting sites include the following:
1. Google Photos – a free image hosting site that allows you to edit your
photos, organize them according to people/places/things and share your
photos online even with non-Google Photos users.
2. Flickr – a free image hosting site that allows you to edit your photos, create
albums, organize photos to use for social networking and photo sharing.
3. Dropbox – a free cloud storage provider that you can use to store photos in
different file formats.
But as we all know, we commonly upload and share our picture in social media
like Facebook, Instagram and others.

Activity 1:
Apply techniques of image manipulation and graphic design to create the
following ICT contents from existing images, text, and graphic elements for use in
the specified professional track.
1. Labelling and manual of operation for tools and equipment (Tech-Voc)
2. Presentation of cafeteria patronage data (Business/ Academic)

Activity 2: COVID-19 Safety Measure


Make your own poster promoting the COVID-19 Safety Measures. You can
also post your self-made poster in social media but it’s just optional.
