Course titled:
Spring 2025 Data Analysis and Statistics -883 (3+0) Total Marks: 30
INSTRUCTIONS:
Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the following statistical measures: Mean
(Arithmetic Mean - A.M.), Median, Mode, Standard Deviation (S.D.), Range, Variance,
Geometric Mean (G.M.), and Harmonic Mean (H.M.). Provide examples for each.
Find a research article that utilizes one of the following: quantitative data (discrete or
continuous), qualitative data (ordinal or nominal), primary or secondary data sources, or
univariate, bivariate, or multivariate analysis.
Once you have selected an article, you must share its title and author(s) or screenshots/pdf in
the class WhatsApp group to ensure that no other student selects the same article.
There are millions of research articles available online. Simply searching relevant keywords on
Google can help you find one. You may choose an article related to your discipline. If you wish to
focus on data available from sources such as NCBI, GitHub libraries, or similar databases, select
an article where the authors have used those datasets for further research.

Prepare a one-page report summarizing the article. Your report should briefly explain the type of
data used and the analysis performed-do not include technical details about computational
models. Keep it concise, like the example below:
The article "Spatial Appraisal of the Impacts of Drought on Agricultural Patterns in Karachi"
utilized secondary data to analyze the effects of drought on agriculture. The authors used
quantitative data; continuous variables such as temperature and rainfall to examine the impact….
Note: If a student submits an article that has already been shared in the WhatsApp group by
another student, they will receive zero marks for the entire assignment. Be sure to check the
group before finalizing your selection.
Go through Chapter 2 of the book "Introductory Statistics (Third Edition)" by Sheldon M. Ross
and solve any five random questions from the exercise.
