Without a doubt, from the day of orientation to the day we
said goodbye, those four years, were undeniably the best. My
outlook on learning and performance was transformed during
my time at PEC campus. I owe my gratitude to our
department, and I am grateful to our EIE faculty for their
exceptional industry knowledge, upbeat attitudes and
guidance. The experiences, along with the opportunities and
challenges we encountered, shaped us into more capable

A few words about "speak up culture" is a college setting where
students are free to voice their opinions, share their ideas, and voice
concerns without worrying about the repercussions. The majority of
our geniuses could do their amazing acts. However, there are many
who are reluctant to express their opinions because they believe that
others have vanquished them in society or industry. They can also
experience being overtaken by others. I hope everyone maintains an
open mind and expresses their opinions while studying.
Thank u
DEAR students ,

Greetings from a fellow alum of the EIE department, batch of 2008!

It's heartening to hear about the symposium and the release of the
annual magazine. Thank you for reaching out to me for a message to
the juniors. Reflecting on my time at PEC - EIE, I can't help but being a
backbencher, soaking up knowledge from our remarkable teachers
who ignited my passion for understanding how microcontrollers and
control systems work. I still wonder without DSP this world won't be
the same technically. The department not only honed my technical
skills but also instilled in me the art of interaction with humans and
Machines. I got good friends who still hangout with me. It was here
that I laid the foundation for my career, securing a placement at TCS.
Later I switched to JIPMER to pursue my ambition - MBBS. Soon a
Surgeon too! PEC was also a reason for taking such a serious decision.
Above all, the department played a pivotal role in shaping me into
the person I am today—a good human being with a fighting spirit. My
message to my juniors is simple yet crucial: plan ahead, set ambitious
goals, and strive to excel. Aim for the GROUP A technical posts in our
country, but also equip yourselves with knowledge beyond the
technical realm—understanding the economy, the business aspect,
Government Policies , Finance and administration will broaden your
horizons and make you invaluable assets in any field.Wishing the
symposium and magazine release all the success they deserve, and to
my juniors, may you embark on a journey filled with learning, growth,
and meaningful achievements.

Dear All,

This is Aakash @ AK

First thing what I would like to say is , Please Enjoy your

college life. Be it class bunks, night outs, short trips, weekend
stayovers , Do Whatever you want, while in college while also
having an eye on academics. After College, You can't even
"MEET" your friends, So Enjoy your life upto the fullest. And
A small piece of Advice, it's a very big world out there, Ace out
in your academics and do whatever it takes to get yourself
placed on campus. There is no "OFF CAMPUS" in the outside
world. So Enjoy as much as you can as well as make sure you
all get yourselves "PLACED" in a Good Place.
Hello. I am pleased to be a part of our annual magazine.

Here is my message. College days will be the most

impactful and memorable years of your life. Make good
friends. The college years are a time of exploration and
growth. It's important to push yourself, try new things, and
not be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. These
experiences will contribute to your personal development
and prepare you for the future. Take advantage of the
opportunity to learn from experienced and knowledgeable
professors who can guide you on your academic journey
while enjoying the process.
The summer of 2024 may be humid, hot and tiring us, but 25
summers ago, I was one among those 30 odd fellows who felt excited
and energetic at the thought of joining EIE Department at PEC. There
had always been a longing to join PEC, a lovely campus situated by
the fishing hamlet overlooking the sea. Starting from the 7.55 AM
'Andavar' bus that we boarded to reach the college to the famous PEC
library block to the PEC canteen 'Poori Sambar' or the sotic silence
while traversing the HOD's and the Professor's cabin to the joyous,
high decibel, adreline pumped PECOFES, the moments and
memories we had during the 4 years 1998 -2002 will stay for a
lifetime.
We helped each other in learning assignments as well. For me the
weekend group study sessions at friends house was sacrosanct for
two reasons. One it helped me clear the exams and two the social
networking over some awesome food (Meen kozhambu at Gopi's
house and snacks and tea at Kanag's house) to end the Sunday on a
high.
As a student, me getting prepared to face the challenges of the
world started only during the last year of the college when clouds of
Recession was looming over us and campus placements were sparce.
I wish I could have started learning those vital skills a few years
earlier. Looking back, if I am given a chance to wind the clock 25 years
back and tell me younger self any advice, I would says "Buddy, build
Industry specific skills, use the college resources as your sandbox to
try your passion if you want to make living out of it and most
importantly enjoy doing whatever you do.
Hello Dear Buddies,
It’s been 10yrs since I graduated and I still cherish the
moments I had over there. It gives me immense pleasure to
share my professional journey with you. I am currently
working as Associate Architect at Bounteous India Pvt. Ltd.,
Chennai, Tamilnadu. Prior to this I worked as Member of
Technical Staff(MTS) at Salesforce.com India Pvt. Ltd.,
Hyderabad, Telangana.
My memories from back then are still green. I can picture
the moment I was stepping into our college for induction in
2010. The auditorium was full of strangers with different
aspirations, thereby arousing a fear and discomfort for
pseudo introverts like me. Fast forward, a few years later in
2017, the same auditorium was filled with friends and this
time it was an over joyous moment - our convocation.
If I had any advice, my fellas, the only thought I would seed
is, to live and enjoy every day at college. Give your best,
challenge your peers, hone your skills, strive for finesse,
retrospect your learning everyday. Of course there will be
distractions, but when you’re clouded seek help and slide back
into your success path.Trust me, this period of 4yrs of your
college will be a memorable one for you all. I wish you all good
luck for your career. My sincerest thanks to all the professors,
lecturers and staffs for helping me to draw a guideline that
brought me where I’m today.

A Journey of Self-Discovery and Empowerment "Upon graduating, I
embarked on a journey to secure a position as a second lieutenant officer in the
Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force. The selection process took place
in Bengaluru for the Army and Navy, and in Mysore for the Air Force, spanning
five days filled with rigorous physical activities, psychological tests, group tasks,
and individual assessments, collectively known as the SSB interview. This
experience provided me with invaluable insights into my own identity, strengths,
and weaknesses. The pivotal moment of the selection process occurred on the
final day when officers announced the candidates recommended for further
consideration and others are not recommended Instead of using the term
"rejected," they tactfully communicated that those not recommended were
suitable for other roles in society. This approach aimed to mitigate the potential
for candidates to spiral into feelings of depression, ensuring that each individual
recognized their worth and potential contributions beyond the military sphere .
Through this process, I realized the importance of maintaining a positive outlook
and offering encouragement to others. Every individual possesses unique talents
and abilities, which, when identified and nurtured, can lead to personal growth
and success in various fields of endeavor. This perspective fosters resilience and
motivation, empowering individuals to pursue alternative opportunities with
confidence and determination .

I recommend all the students of EIE, PTU to attend the SSB interview.
So that you can understand yourself well. If God wishes you may get an
opportunity to work for the nation.

WISHING YOU ALL THE BEST

The African jacana, scientifically known as Actophilornis africanus , is
native to sub-Saharan Africa. It inhabits various wetland habitats, including
marshes, ponds, and shallow lakes, where it feeds on insects, small
invertebrates, and seeds. It’s a fascinating species known for its unique
behaviors and adaptations to its wetland environment.

The African jacanas are known for their unique reproductive strategy
called “egg carrying.” They lay eggs in a nest built by the male, who then
incubates the eggs and cares for the chicks after they hatch. However, if
danger threatens the nest, the female jacana may carry the chicks under her
wings to keep them safe until the danger passes. Once the danger is gone, she
releases them and resumes caring for them as usual. It’s an incredible
adaptation to protect their offspring from predators.

The jacana's chick protection method offers several management lessons:

RISK ASSESSMENT AND MITIGATION:

Just as the jacana assesses the risk of danger to its chicks, managers should
continually evaluate potential risks to their projects or teams. Implementing
proactive measures to mitigate these risks can prevent or minimize negative
impacts.
ADAPTABILITY:
The jacana demonstrates adaptability by adjusting its behavior in response
to changing circumstances. Managers should similarly remain flexible and
adaptable in their approaches, being willing to modify strategies or plans as
needed to address challenges effectively.
PROTECTIVE LEADERSHIP:
Like the jacana, effective leaders prioritize the safety and well-being of their
team members. This involves providing support, guidance, and protection
when necessary, fostering a sense of security and trust within the team.

COMMUNICATION AND SIGNALING:

Communication is essential for the jacana’s chick protection strategy.
Similarly, clear and timely communication within an organization is crucial for
ensuring everyone is aware of potential risks, emergency procedures, and
changes in plans.

RESILIENCE:
Jacanas demonstrates resilience by swiftly adapting to threats and returning
to normalcy once the danger has passed. In management, building resilience
within teams enables them to bounce back from setbacks, learn from
experiences, and continue moving forward.

Overall, the jacana’s chick protection method highlights the importance of

proactive risk management, adaptability, protective leadership, effective
communication, and resilience in organizational management.

The history of cockroaches is a tale as old as time, spanning millions of years

and multiple continents. These resilient creatures have roamed the Earth
since the time of the dinosaurs, evolving and adapting alongside other
ancient life forms. Fossil evidence suggests that cockroaches have been
present on our planet for over 300 million years, making them one of the
oldest insect species known to man.

Throughout history, cockroaches have endured cataclysmic events and

environmental changes that led to the extinction of countless other species.
They have survived ice ages, asteroid impacts, and volcanic eruptions, thanks
to their remarkable ability to adapt to a wide range of habitats and conditions.
From tropical rainforests to urban landscapes, cockroaches have thrived in
diverse ecosystems, earning them a reputation as one of nature's ultimate
survivors.

"Cockroach startups" refers to startups that are resilient and able to survive
and adapt in tough conditions, much like cockroaches are known for their
resilience. These are companies that can weather economic downturns,
competition, and other challenges without folding.

What sets these tenacious startups apart is their adaptability. Like their
insect namesake, they can withstand harsh conditions and adapt to new
environments with remarkable ease. When faced with adversity, they don't
crumble under the weight of challenges; instead, they pivot, innovate, and
find creative solutions to stay afloat. Whether it's navigating regulatory
hurdles, outmaneuvering competitors, or weathering economic storms,
cockroach startups are masters of adaptation, turning obstacles into
opportunities.

In today's fast-paced and trend-driven society, maintaining our health

can sometimes feel like trying to keep up with the latest viral TikTok
challenge – it's ever-changing and can leave us feeling overwhelmed. As
students, you're often at the forefront of embracing new trends, whether it's
in fashion, technology, or lifestyle choices. However, when it comes to our
health, it's essential to approach trends with caution and mindfulness. Let's
explore some key aspects of navigating our health in this trendy world.

From juice cleanses to intermittent fasting, from high-intensity interval

training to mindfulness apps, health trends come in all shapes and sizes.
They promise quick fixes, instant results, and the allure of fitting into the
latest societal ideal of health and beauty. However, it's crucial to remember
that not all trends are created equal, and what works for one person may
not work for another.

As students, you're trained to think critically and analyze information.

This skill is invaluable when it comes to evaluating health trends. Before
jumping on the bandwagon of the latest craze, take a step back and ask
yourself some questions:
·What is the scientific basis behind this trend?

Biosensors have emerged as a powerful tool in the field of healthcare, offering a

non-invasive and efficient way to detect diseases at an early stage. These devices
combine biological components with a transducer to convert a biological response
into an electrical signal, providing real-time and accurate information about a
patient's health status. The availability of biosensors for early disease detection has
been steadily increasing, with many companies and research institutions
developing innovative devices for various healthcare applications. One of the key
applications of biosensors is in the early detection of diseases such as cancer. By
detecting biomarkers or specific molecules associated cancer can help in
diagnosing diseases at a stage where treatment is most effective. Biosensors can
detect cancer biomarkers in blood samples through a process that involves
specific biological recognition elements and transducers. In the case of cancer
biomarker detection, the biosensor is designed to recognize and bind to specific
molecules or proteins that are indicative of the presence of cancer cells or tumors
in the body. Cancer biomarkers are molecules or genetic changes that can indicate
the presence of cancer in the body. They can be proteins, nucleic acids (such as
DNA or RNA), metabolites, or other substances produced by cancer cells or by the
body in response to cancer. Examples of specific cancer biomarkers that can be
detected in blood samples include circulating tumor cells (CTCs), circulating
tumor DNA (ctDNA), cancer-specific proteins (e.g., prostate-specific antigen (PSA),
carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA)), microRNAs (miRNAs), and exosomes.
The working principle of a biosensor used to detect cancer biomarkers in blood
samples involves the following steps:
1. Sample Preparation: The blood sample is collected from the patient and
processed to isolate the biomarkers of interest. This may involve centrifugation,
filtration, or other sample preparation techniques to remove interfering
substances and concentrate the target biomarkers.
2. Recognition Element Binding: The prepared sample is introduced to the
biosensor, where the recognition element selectively binds to the target cancer
biomarker present in the blood sample. The binding event is specific and
reversible, allowing for accurate detection of the biomarker.
3. Signal Generation: Upon biomarker binding, the transducer generates a
measurable signal proportional to the concentration of the bound biomarker. This
signal may be electrical, optical, acoustic, or mechanical in nature, depending on
the type of transducer used in the biosensor.
4. Signal Processing and Analysis: The raw signal from the transducer is processed
and analyzed by the signal processing system to extract relevant information
about the concentration of the target biomarker in the blood sample. This may
involve calibration, background subtraction, and noise reduction techniques to
improve the accuracy and reliability of the measurement.
5. Result Interpretation: The processed data is displayed on the user interface,
providing realtime feedback to the user about the presence and concentration of
the cancer biomarker in the blood sample. The results may be presented as
numerical values, graphical plots, or qualitative indicators, depending on the
design of the biosensor and user preferences.

Overall, biosensors offer a rapid, sensitive, and selective method for detecting
cancer biomarkers in blood samples, enabling early diagnosis, monitoring of
disease progression, and evaluation of treatment efficacy in cancer patients.
Ongoing research and development efforts continue to improve the performance
and clinical utility of biosensors for cancer diagnostics and personalized medicine
applications

The flock enter the room with lot of dreams
And have the courage to achieve the aims.
They don’t know about the final destination
But their willpower is huge then a mountain.
Bonding between them is like a grape grove
But their unity can make a wonder new.
All can face lot of colorful problems
And feel it precious after moving out…
This is my take on Mindset and why it matters. We have all
experienced frustrations with learning in different areas. If only
more people knew that the most important step to solving these
problems is surprisingly simple.
"The only journey is the journey within." - Rainer Maria Rilke
At some point, we’ve all used explanations like the one I told
myself at school when wrestling with a hard math problem - “I’m
just not good with numbers.”This perspective frames our capacity
to learn as something outside of our control, when in reality it’s
influenced heavily by our own beliefs. Our belief systems directly
affect our behaviour, which in turn affects our success in
learning, which I myself realised only after my high school. Well,
according to me , mindsets are beliefs about the nature and
working of human attributes, such as intelligence or personality
although this definition differs from the colloquial definition
of mindset, which refers to any attitude, preparatory set, or
schema that people bring to a situation. Apart from academics
side, a good growth mindset can also help with mental health
problems such as anxiety and depression, which most people of
this generation are facing. So growth mindset can cushion or
safeguard the effects of stress, anxiety, and depression and the
use of unhealthy coping mechanisms. Therefore, growth mindset
individuals view anxiety as temporary and an emotion they can
learn to deal with using healthier coping strategies. As I came
across somewhere that If you're struggling with a task, remind
yourself that you just haven’t mastered it “yet.” Integrating this
word into your vocabulary signals that despite any struggles,
you can overcome anything.
Remember, the power of mindset lies in our ability to choose our
thoughts and shape our reality. Keep growing and believing in
yourself!

Darkness you need, to see the stars,
The truth stands belittled by the farce.
Progress, my friend, is asteep incline;
No matter what you destine.
Through the thick and thin - with a ray
and a glimmer.
As days pass by, the lamp glows dimmer.
For your soul your heart your mind they'll
toy, And your aspirations - they'll destroy!
A journey of aches, of the head and the heart
Aims and standings miles apart.
Yet the new day, awaits a being
The ray of hope, that I keep seeing.
Sometimes, life becomes a mess.
Even a feeble mind; emotionless
Still it's the best to hang in there;
You'll find a way out of that lair- and make
it out strong and bare!!
