ans:
Aim: To create a paragraph in open office writer and fulfilling the the needs
in the question.
Procedure:-
 open a new document in open office writer.
 Type the paragraph: ''India is one of the oldest civilisation in the
world with a kaleidoscopic variety and rich cultural heritage. It has
achieved all-around socio-economic progress since independence.
As the 7th largest country in the world India stands apart from the
rest of Asia, marked off as it is by mountains and the sea, which give
the country a distinct geographical entity.''
 go to 'file' from menu bar and select 'save as'
 when the dialogue box appears type 'about India' and click on save .
 Go to find and replace option from edit menu and type civilization in
the find bar and type civilisation in the replace bar and once done
click ok.
 Check the document if there are any wavy red lines and correct the
incorrect spellings.

Conclusion: successfully created a document in Open Office Writer.

Q2. Mail merge invitation- Inviting any 5 friends for the birthday
party. Question 6 from pg no. 348.
ans:
Aim: to Invite any 5 friends for the birthday party. Using mail merge
invitation.
Procedure:-
 open an open office document and go to tools menu and click on Mail
Merge.
 Start by selecting a document.
 Then further select a document type either letter or email message.
 Insert an address block by clicking on select address list.
 now create a salutation by selecting the required options.
 adjust the layout for the content.
 if you would want any changes click on edit document and make the
required changes.
 personalise a document as per as the need.
 now we can save print or send the document to the recipient.
 now open the document and click f4 and a dialogue box appears, drag
the name to the field.
 preview the document and send the document to the recipient.

Conclusion: successfully Invited 5 friends for the birthday party. Using

mail merge invitation.

 Type a paragraph on conserve water
 Go to format menu and select page option.
 Further go to page option and select page orientation as landscape.
 In the same menu go to borders in page and select the type of borders.
Click ok.
 Again go to page option from format menu and click on background
option then switch option to graphics and select the copyright
background from files.
 Save the document by giving conserve water as the heading.

Conclusion: successfully typed two paragraphs on conserve water and

fulfilled the requirements in the question.

ans:
Aim: to create the table given in the textbook.
Procedure:
 open Open Office Writer and select spreadsheet.
 Select the cell A1, B1,C1,D1,E1 and go to format menu and select
merge cells.
 Type Quarterly sales Analysis and choose centred orientation.
 Type the required data in the cells.
 Further on to fulfil the need in cell B7,C7,D7,E7 type SUM(B3:B6),
SUM(C3:C6), SUM(D3:D6), SUM(E3:E6) then click enter.
 now save the document.

Conclusion: successfully created a table in spreadsheet as given in

textbook

Aim: to create a document from the spreadsheet.
Procedure:-
 open a document in open office writer and select spreadsheet
 type the required information given in the text book.
 (i) to find absolute value of cell D1
go to input line and type =ABS(D1)
then press enter u will get the absolute value.
 (ii) to find square of B2
go to input line and type =SQRT(B2)
then press enter you will get the square root.
 (iii) to find rounded value of cell D2
go to input line and type=ROUND(D2;0)
then press enter and you will get the rounded number.

Aim: to create a worksheet and perform the given activities in the
spreadsheet
Procedure:-
 enter the data of 10 persons as shown in the table
 align them to the centre of their cells
 to find total pay of the persons go to input line and type SUM(C3:F3)
and there u will get the total
 now to find net pay go to input line and type H3-G3 and u will get
the answer
 to write the heading select the cells from A1 TO I1 and go to format
menu and select merge cells.
Now type ABC CORPORATION and select the text and click on the option
bold and underline from standard tool bar
 select the given data and go to charts from insert menu and create the
charts like line chart, bar chart, pie chart, and column chart
 now select the columns and rows and select filter from data in menu
bar.
