General Instructions:

Read the following instructions carefully and follow them:

1. This question paper contains 38 questions.

2 This Question Paper is divided into 5 Sections A, B, C, D and E

In Section A. Questions no. 1-18 are multiple choice questions (MCQs) and questions no.
19 and 20 are Assertion -Reason based questions of I mark each.

In Section B, Questions no. 21-25 are very short answer (VSA) type questions, carrying 02
marks each

5. Section C. Questions no. 26-31 are short answer (SA) type questions, carrying 03 marks
each.

6. Section D. Questions no. 32-35 are long answer (LA) type questions, carrying 05 marks
each

7. In Section E, Questions no. 36-38 are case study based questions carrying 4 marks
each with sub parts of the values of 1. 1 and 2 marks each respectively

8. All Questions are compulsory. However, an internal choice in 2 Questions of Section B.


2 Questions of Section C and 2 Questions of Section D has been provided. An internal
choice has been provided in all the 2 marks questions of Section E

9. Draw neat and clean figures wherever required

10. Taken pi = 22/7 wherever required if not stated.

11. Use of calculators is not allowed.

Section A consists of 20 questions of 1 mark each.

23. Prove that the tangent drawn at the end of the diameter of the circle are parallel.

24. Two cubes each of volume 125 cm³ are joined end to end. Find the surface area of the
resulting cuboid.

25. Find the values of k for which the quadratic equation 2x 2 + k x + 3 = 0 has real and
equal roots OR

(b) Find the roots of the quadratic equation x2 – 3 √11 x+3 =0 using quadratic formula

SECTION C

Section C consists of 6 questions of 3 marks each.

26. State and prove Thales theorem.

27. (a) The ratio of the 10th term to its 30th term of an A.P. is 1:3 and the sum of its first
six terms is 42. Find the first term and the common difference of A.P. OR

(b) The first term of an A.P. is 5, the last term is 45 and the sum of all its terms is 400.
Find the number of terms and the common difference of the A.P.

28. Find the value of p from the following data, if its mode is 48.

29. The shadow of a tower from standing on a level ground is found to be 40 m longer
when the Sun’s altitude is 30° than when it is 60°. Find the height of the tower.

30. A wooden article was made by scooping out a hemisphere from each end of a solid
cylinder. If the height of the cylinder is 10cm, and its base is of radius 3.5 cm, find the
total surface area of the article.

31. (a). Let P and Q be the points of trisection of the line segment joining the points

A (2, - 2) and B (- 7, 4) such that P is nearer to A. Find the coordinates of P and Q. OR

(b) Show that the points (1,7), (4,2), (-1,-1), (-4,4) are the vertices of square.

SECTION D

Section D consists of 4 questions of 5 marks each.

32. Prove that 3+2 √5 is an irrational number and prove √5 is also irrational

33. A chord PQ of a circle of radius 10 cm subtends an angle of 90° at the centre of circle.
Find the of major and minor segments of the circle. (Use 𝝅 = 3.14) OR

(b) In a circle of radius 28 cm, an arc subtends an angle of 120° at the centre. Find

(i) the length of arc (ii) area of the minor sector formed by the arc

34. In the adjoining figure, the incircle of ∆ABC touches the sides BC. CA and AB at D, E
and F respectively Show that AF + BD + CE = AE + BF + CD = 1/2 Perimeter of ∆ABC )

35. (a) Find the values of p and q for which the following system of equations has infinitely
many solutions 2(p + q) x - 4qy = 7p + 4q + 3 ; 5x - y = 16 OR

(b) A train travels 360 km at a uniform speed. If the speed had been 5 km/hr more , it
would have taken 1 hour less for the same journey. Find the speed of the train.

SECTION E

Section E consists of 3 case study based questions of 4 marks each

36. A rectangular floor area can be completely tiled with 200 square tiles. If the side length
of each tile is increased by 1 unit, it would take only 128 tiles to cover the floor.

On the basis of the above information, answer the following questions.


(i) Assuming the original length of each side of a tile be x units, make a quadratic equation
from the above information.

(ii) Check whether 2 is a root of the quadratic equation or not.

(iii)(a) Find the value of x, the length of side of a tile by factorisation. OR

(b) Solve the quadratic equation for x .

37. Two friends Richa and Sohan have some savings in their piggy bank. They decided to
count the total coins they both had. After counting they find that they have fifty ₹1 coin ,
forty eight ₹2 coins, thirty six ₹5 coins ,twenty ₹10 coins and eight ₹20 coins. Now , they
said to Nisha, their another friend , to choose a coin randomly.

(i) Find the probability that the chosen coin is ₹5 coin

(ii) Find the probability that the chosen coin is ₹20 coins

(iii) Find the probability that the chosen coin is of denomination of atleast ₹ 10

OR

Find the probability that the chosen coin is a denomination of atmost ₹5

38. A man sitting on the bridge across the river observes the angle of depression of the
bank on opposite sides of the river are 30° and 45° respectively. Take √3=1.73

On the base of the above information answer the following question

(i) If the bridge is at a height of 4 m. then find the length of AD

(ii) Find the length of BD

iii) If BD=15m. then find the height of the bridge OR

(b) Find the width of the river
