Spreadsheet/ Microsoft Excel

Computer and statistical packages or software are essential in computing statistics, interpreting statistics,
and presenting results. However, human insight is vital to analyzing and applying data to the real world. But
the“human insight, not the computer, remains the final judge of research results” (ibid., p7)

Microsoft Excel provides some more advanced statistical analysis tools that are installed by default. To confirm
whether the analysis toolbar is installed;

1. Open the DATA tab on the Excel ribbon

2. If installed you should see DATA ANALYSIS button in the ribbon.

Otherwise, if steps 1 & 2 are executed and “DATA ANALYSIS” is not seen in the browser then it is not installed
and there is a need to do the following steps

1. Click the green file tab. The File tab in excel replaces the office button (or file menu) in previous versions
of Excel.
2. Click options.

3. Under add-ins, select Analysis Toolbar and

click on the Go button.

4. Check Analysis Toolbar and click on OK.

5. On the DATA tab, you can now click on DATA ANALYSIS.

Note: This means it is already installed.
Once the data analysis is clicked, the different tool pack will be displayed see picture below.
