18. Given that f (x) = 2x3 + px2 + qx − 5, find the values of the constants p and q such that the remainder is 8 when f (x) is divided
by x + 1 and 35 when it is divided by x + 2. Hence find the remainder when f (x) is divided by x − 2.

If they are divided by x − 2 the remainders are 40 and 20 respectively. Find the values of the constants a, b, p and q and hence
determine the values of x for which f (x) = g(x).
22. If g(x) = f (x + 1) and f (x) = x2 + 3x + 2, find the remainder when g(x) is divided by x − 1.
