Preparation
Good morning, Class! Good morning, ma’am!

Let us all stand up and put ourselves in (Student stand for a prayer)
the presence of our Lord. May I ask Jen
to lead for the prayer.

“Dear Lord, thank you for today. Thank “Dear Lord, thank you for today. Thank
you for ways in which you provide for us you for ways in which you provide for us

of Jesus. Amen.” Amen.”

Before you sit down, please arrange

your chairs properly and pick up those
pieces of paper under your chair.

How are you today, class?

It’s nice to hear that you are all good We’re fine, ma’am!
today, class.

Are all present today?

Yes, ma’am!
Wow! For that, all of you will receive
plus points for todays’ class.

Alright, before we go through, who

among you here can still remember our
past lesson?

Yes, Jade?

Very good! Our past lesson was all about expression

and equation.
How about Ella? What is expression and
equation?
In algebra, an expression is a
combination of variables and numbers

new lesson today.

b.Engage

Let’s have a short play/game. This

game is called “Find the X” I have a ball
here which will be passed around until
the music stops. The student that has
the ball will choose his/her partner to
guess whether the equations are one
variable shown on the board.

So, let’s begin! (Music starts)

(Music stops) When the music stops,

students whose holding the ball will be (Students Perform)
the one to find your X and choose
his/her partner.

Dexter, choose your partner to guess

whether the equations are one variable.

1. X = 9 Dexter: I choose Ann, ma’am.

Very good Dexter and Ann.

Dexter/Ann: no.1 is one Variable ma’am!
(Music starts)

(Music stops)
(Students Perform)
Ella, choose your partner.

2. X – 3 = 21
Ella: I choose Paul, ma’am.
Okay class, Let’s continue our game!
(Music starts) Ella/Paul: no.2 is one Variable ma’am!

(Music stop) (Students Perform)

Jen, choose your partner

3. Y – 10 = 34
Jen: I choose Carl, ma’am.
Very good, class!
Jen/Carl: no.3 is one Variable ma,am!
Let’s give a barangay clap for everyone.

c.Explore
(Students Clapping)
A simple equation is an equation that
contains one or more variables and
shows a relationship between quantities.
It follows the format of an equality, (Students listening)
where the left side has the same value
as the right side. In its most basic form,
a simple equation can be represented
as:

ax + b = c

Here, “x” is the variable we need to find,

while “a,” “b,” and “c” are known
constants. The goal in solving a simple
equation is to determine the value of the
variable that satisfies the equation.

To understand simple equations clearly,

we must be familiar with their key
components:

 Variables: These represent

unknown values that we want to
solve for.
Constants: Fixed values that do
not change, represented by
numbers.
 Operators: Symbols that denote
operations, such as addition (+),
subtraction (‚àí), multiplication
(√ó), and division (√∑).
Let’s examine each of these
components a bit more closely:

 Variables: In the equation x + 5 =

10, “x” is the variable.
 Constants: The number “5” and
“10” are constants in the above
example.
 Operators: The “+” sign indicates
that we are adding values in the
equation.

Solve the equation

Example 1:

Solve: x + 7 = 15

X + 7 = 15

-7 -7

X=8

Example 2:

40 = 25 + x

40 = x + 25

-25 -25

15 = x

X = 15

Example 3:

X – 5 = 16
+5 +5

X = 21

Is there any questions?

Is it clear now?
None so far ma’am.
So now that we clear, what is simple
equation?
Yes ma’am!
Yes, Mark!

Very good, Mark.

What is variable? Simple equation is an expression

containing at least one variable.
Very good, class.

Variable represent unknown values that

we want to solve for.
d.Explain

Solving an equation means finding all

solutions to the equation. A solution of
an equation is a number that makes the
equation true statement.

Now that we know the simple equation

let’s solve the equation.

1. X – 5 = 10

To solve the unknown X we need to re-

arrange the equation so that the X all by
itself on one side in the = sign.

Who can solve the equation?

Yes, Lhea!

X – 5 = 10
-5 -5
Give five Clap for Lhea! X=5

(Students clapping)
e.Elaborate
I will group you into two groups.

Each group there are 1 representative,

every representative need to connect
the following to find their match.

1.x-1=7 x=10
1.x-1=7 x=10
2.5-y=-1 x=8
2.5-y=-1 x=8
3.x+2=12 y=6
3.x+2=12 y=6

f.Evaluate

Please get a sheet of paper and answer

the following.

Direction: Solve the following problem.

1. 7–r=9
2. 1–b=0
3. -3 = z + 1 1. r = -2
4. -7 = 0 – m
5. p + -1 = -1 2. b =1

3. z = -4

g.Extend 4. m = 7

Study the next lesson about mean, 5. p = 0
