1. Introduction
This project involves the design and modeling of a cyberpunk-inspired small building and an
adjacent shop using AutoCAD. The goal was to create a futuristic, dystopian environment that
incorporates elements of cyberpunk architecture—sharp lines, exposed structures, and
industrial materials. The design emphasizes the use of digital tools to capture the essence of a
high-tech, urban future. By utilizing AutoCAD's advanced modeling capabilities, the project
showcases a blend of creative architecture and technical proficiency, with a focus on precision
and detail.
2. Objectives
To design and model a cyberpunk-themed building and shop.
To master key AutoCAD commands for 3D modeling and detailing.
To explore how futuristic elements like neon lighting, exposed wiring, and industrial materials
can be effectively modeled using AutoCAD.
To create a visually dynamic architectural concept that merges both futuristic aesthetics and
functional design.
3. Methodology
The design process involved several key stages, including concept development, 3D
modeling, and detailing. The following AutoCAD commands were primarily used:
 Sweep and Loft: These commands were used to create complex, smooth curves and transitions
between different structural elements of the building and shop. The Sweep command helped
generate long, curved elements like pipes and vents, while Loft was used to create the smooth
surfaces of walls and roofs.
 Fillet and Chamfer: These commands were essential for softening sharp corners and edges,
giving the design a more polished and futuristic feel. They were particularly useful when
modeling structural intersections, windows, and other angular elements.
 Extrude and Revolve: Extrude was employed to generate solid forms from 2D shapes, such as
walls, floors, and columns. The Revolve command was used to create circular or cylindrical
elements, like columns and pipes, typical of the cyberpunk style.
 Offset and Array: These commands were crucial for generating repeated patterns, like windows,
vents, and structural supports. The Offset tool helped create parallel lines and surfaces, while
Array allowed for efficient placement of objects in a grid-like pattern.
 Hatch and Materials: To simulate the appearance of various materials, such as steel, glass, and
concrete, the Hatch command was used for textures, while different materials were applied to
surfaces to reflect the industrial and futuristic look.
4. Design Process
The design process began with the creation of basic 2D layouts for both the
building and shop. Once the primary shapes and outlines were established, the model was
brought to life in 3D using the aforementioned commands.
The building was designed to reflect a modular, utilitarian structure with angular walls and
exposed components like pipes, vents, and support beams. The use of Loft and Sweep created
smooth transitions between the walls and roof, while Fillet softened sharp intersections for a
more cohesive design.
The shop was designed to complement the building with its own set of futuristic elements. Neon
signs, digital displays, and exposed wiring were modeled to add to the cyberpunk atmosphere.
Extrude was used to give the shop a more dynamic, multi-layered look, while Array helped
replicate the placement of smaller elements, like vents and signage.
5. Challenges and Solutions
A major challenge during the modeling process was ensuring the smooth
integration of complex shapes and architectural elements. Some parts of the design, like the
curved roof and unevenly shaped walls, required advanced manipulation using Loft and Sweep
to ensure the curves flowed seamlessly.
Another challenge was achieving the desired cyberpunk aesthetic, particularly when it came to
modeling neon lighting and intricate details. To address this, a combination of Hatch and custom
materials was used to simulate glowing textures and illuminated components, while detailed 3D
components, such as wires and pipes, were carefully placed to give the design a lived-in,
futuristic feel.
6. Results
The final model consists of a small building and an adjacent shop, both designed with
cyberpunk influences. The building features a mix of sharp angles, exposed industrial
components, and large glass windows, creating a sleek yet functional space. The shop, located
next to the building, uses neon accents, holographic signage, and digital displays to evoke the
futuristic, dystopian world of cyberpunk.
The successful use of AutoCAD commands such as Sweep, Loft, Fillet, and Extrude allowed for
the creation of intricate, dynamic shapes while ensuring the design maintained a high level of
precision. The overall design effectively combines aesthetic appeal with architectural
functionality, reflecting a vision of the future shaped by technology and urban decay.
7. Conclusion
This project demonstrates the power of AutoCAD as a tool for creating complex,
futuristic architectural designs. By leveraging advanced commands and techniques, the
cyberpunk-inspired building and shop were successfully brought to life with high levels of detail
and precision. The project not only highlights the technical aspects of AutoCAD but also
showcases how digital modeling can be used to convey unique, imaginative architectural
concepts. The final design captures the essence of cyberpunk aesthetics while offering a
functional space that could easily exist in a futuristic, urban environment.
