Notes
8.5.12 is not supported
OpenText products are supported for use with certain combinations and releases of server
operating systems, database systems, application servers, web servers, directory services,
SSO, etc. as listed in respective release notes. The supported combination of 3rd-party
software may be installed on physical or virtual hosts. Customers that choose to use a virtual
environment are encouraged to select a virtualization platform intended for production
systems and known to be fully supported by the 3rd-party software vendors. Virtualization
can be used on-premise as well as in cloud environments. Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS
and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) are supported public cloud platforms. Product release
notes might contain additional information such as the support of cloud platform specific
services or guidelines on how to use our software on respective cloud platform.
As OpenText may not be fully aware of all aspect of public cloud administration needs,
customers are expected to provide specific public cloud expertise to navigate such
administration and configuration responsibilities. If an issue is encountered relating to the
normal operation of an OpenText product whilst running within a virtualized environment,
OpenText Customer Support is only obligated to attempt to reproduce the issue on the same
base operating system. If the issue cannot be reproduced on the same base operating system,
OpenText Customer Support will request that the issue be referred to the vendor of the
virtualization software for further investigation.
For questions about installation, sizing, storage, backup, monitoring, integration into the on-
premises network, contact OpenText Professional Services.
The Microsoft Azure cloud platform offers Microsoft Azure Virtual Machine services that
offer an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform. Archive Center supports Azure Virtual
Machines (IaaS) as well as Microsoft Kubernetes Services (AKS) for containerized
deployments.
The IaaS platform allows deploying various scenarios, including hybrid deployments with
connections to the on-premises customer network.
The Amazon Web Services cloud platform offers Virtual Machine services that offer an
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform. Archive Center supports Amazon’s Virtual
Machines (which includes support for the Amazon hypervisor, AWS Nitro) as well as the
Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) for containerized deployments.
The IaaS platform allows deploying various scenarios, including hybrid deployments with
connections to the on-premises customer network.
The Google Cloud Platform offers Virtual Machine services that offer an Infrastructure as a
Service (IaaS) platform. Archive Center supports GCP’s Virtual Machines as well as the
Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) for containerized deployments.
The IaaS platform allows deploying various scenarios, including hybrid deployments with
connections to the on-premises customer network.
5.1.8 Enterprise DB 9.6
• Requires Archive Center 16.2.2 or later
• Supported for RHEL 7.x (x: 3 and above)
• Archisig is not supported
• Archive Center Application Layer is not supported
• Archive Cache Server is not supported
• Remote Standby is not supported
• Volume Migration is not supported
Note
gzip request content encoding (http setting: compression) is not supported
with ILM
If Archive Center runs as an active-active cluster, there are some topics that are particularly
important or different compared to a single node installation.
• All nodes must run on the same operating platform (OS) and OS major version
• A cluster must not be deployed in a WAN – cluster requires low network latency
• IBM AIX is not supported as platform
• HDSK pool and SAN storage as storage platform – except for disk buffers - are not
supported
• Container storage (ISO) is not supported
• Timestamps are not supported
• Remote standby scenario is not supported
• Archive Cache Server write-back mode is not supported
• Attribute migration Job must be finished before cluster activation
• Volume migration is not supported
• Elasticsearch is not supported
• Please contact OpenText Professional Service for support of
• Running Document Pipelines on a cluster node
• Archive Center File Share
• CMIS Document Pipeline
• AFP feature
Note: Care has to be taken when using an active-active cluster and virtualization
technologies. Virtualization features can influence the timing behavior. Any influence that
results in a delay of the network communication must be avoided on an Archive Center node
while it is actively used in a cluster.
For more details about active-active cluster related topics see
https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/piroot/ar/v160200-00/ar-iclu/docovw.xml
Administration Client supports the same operating systems as OpenText Archive Center.
Administration Client does not include the Archive Center Application Layer.
5.6 Remote Standby Server
Remote Standby Server and Original Server must use the same Archive Center version and
patch level. See also chap. 5.2 on page 21.
Note: Remote Standby scenarios are not supported for archives that are used within
Enterprise Library Services, i.e. archives that are used to host records and are referenced
within Content Server.
5.7 Archive Center File Share Archiving
File Share Archiving is only released for Microsoft Windows environment.
Note: Archive Center only evaluates «allow» ACLs (access control lists) on the file share,
«deny» permissions are ignored.
This means: «allow» permission for everyone, and «deny» permission for a dedicated user is
not supported.
To support the configuration mentioned above, configure the «allow» permission for every
single user explicitly.

5.12.2 General hints
All computers (servers and clients) must use a central time server. Times returned by Archive
Center are in UTC (coordinated universal time).
IPv6 addresses in place of host names are not supported. It must be ensured that host names
are resolved to IPv6 addresses.
The component name is treated as binary data. The length is limited to 255 characters (170
characters for Oracle or SAP Hana DB). Unicode characters are supported.
Some characters are not permitted as part of component names for documents in Archive
Center. For further information, see the Knowledge Base entry “Forbidden characters for
filenames” https://knowledge.opentext.com/go/62988621. Trailing blanks are not allowed for
component names.
5.12.2.6 Retention
Adding new configuration variables in the Administration client under Archive Center >
Configuration is not supported.
5.12.2.8 ArchiSig
Command line tools require loading the Archive Server environment first.
Under UNIX/Linux, run: <OT install AS>/bin/profile
Under Windows, open a command line window and run: <OT install AS>\bin\profile.bat
You can specify datetime properties with custom date formats in the CMIS pipeline.
Refer to the API reference installed at
“<CMIS Pipeline Install directory>\support\dtaccmis-schema.jar",
e.g. “C:\Program Files\OpenText\Document Pipeline CMIS 16.2.0\support\dtaccmis-
schema.jar”
Note: Unix-like timestamps as datetime format are no longer supported.
To archive virus-free documents, you must protect the documents from viruses before
archiving. Archive Center does not perform any checks for viruses. To ensure error-free work
of Archive Center, locations where documents are stored temporarily – like disk buffer
partitions, cache partitions, and Document Pipeline directories – must not be scanned by any
antivirus software while Archive Center is using them.
5.12.5 Multi-tenancy
Recommended size for ISO images is 4 GB. Maximum supported size for ISO images is
10 GB.
5.12.8 Maximum number of volumes
Max. number of volumes supported by STORM: 65’000
Max. number of volumes per single file device type (VI): 256
This guide describes the setup of Archive Center 16.2, including Archive Server and
additional components, on Windows systems.
