5.1.7 Supported virtualization software

OpenText products are supported for use with certain combinations and releases of server
operating systems, database systems, application servers, web servers, directory services,
SSO, etc. as listed in respective release notes. The supported combination of 3rd-party
software may be installed on physical or virtual hosts. Customers that choose to use a virtual
environment are encouraged to select a virtualization platform intended for production
systems and known to be fully supported by the 3rd-party software vendors. Virtualization
can be used on-premise as well as in cloud environments. Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS
and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) are supported public cloud platforms. Product release
notes might contain additional information such as the support of cloud platform specific
services or guidelines on how to use our software on respective cloud platform.

Archive Center 16.2 Release Notes

19
Note that OpenText products are resource intensive solutions and will require at least the
same amount of resources in a virtual environment as it would in a physical environment.
Therefore, additional resource scaling may be required to maintain the same level of
performance in a virtual environment as observed in physical environments. Static or
committed resources within a virtual environment are typically needed for performance
sensitive scenarios. If a large volume of data is being transferred, e.g., very large file upload,
the customer should make sure network bandwidth and latency SLAs are in consideration
prior to production level deployments. Additionally, use of specific cloud storage technology
should be cross-referenced with individual product release notes.

As OpenText may not be fully aware of all aspect of public cloud administration needs,
customers are expected to provide specific public cloud expertise to navigate such
administration and configuration responsibilities. If an issue is encountered relating to the
normal operation of an OpenText product whilst running within a virtualized environment,
OpenText Customer Support is only obligated to attempt to reproduce the issue on the same
base operating system. If the issue cannot be reproduced on the same base operating system,
OpenText Customer Support will request that the issue be referred to the vendor of the
virtualization software for further investigation.

For questions about installation, sizing, storage, backup, monitoring, integration into the on-
premises network, contact OpenText Professional Services.

5.3 High availability deployments
High availability deployments require consulting from OpenText Professional Services. To
achieve high availability with Archive Center, there are several options possible:
Virtualization, e.g. VMware HA (high availability), active-passive cluster or active-active
cluster. Contact OpenText Professional Services to find the optimal approach for your
requirements.
Note, running a Remote Standby Server on an active-passive or active-active cluster is not
supported.
5.3.1 Active-active Cluster

If Archive Center runs as an active-active cluster, there are some topics that are particularly
important or different compared to a single node installation.
• All nodes must run on the same operating platform (OS) and OS major version
• A cluster must not be deployed in a WAN – cluster requires low network latency
• IBM AIX is not supported as platform
• HDSK pool and SAN storage as storage platform – except for disk buffers - are not
supported
• Container storage (ISO) is not supported
• Timestamps are not supported
• Remote standby scenario is not supported
• Archive Cache Server write-back mode is not supported
• Attribute migration Job must be finished before cluster activation

5.10 Archive Server API

Archive Server API (ArchiveLink) versions 10.1.1 and 10.5 are compatible with Archive
Center 16.2.
In IPv6 environments, the following environment variable must be set for a client application
using the API: DSH_USE_IPV6=yes
Caution

The migrate call must not be used, if the source and the target pool share the same
disk buffer. (Ref: AS-17377)

5.11 Microsoft SQL Server only: write jobs

Writing a document or component into the disk buffer creates an entry in the table ds_job.
Each entry has a unique sequence, called job number (jobno). The maximum job number is
231-1. When the maximum is reached, archiving is no longer possible.
The current configuration of the Microsoft SQL Server does not allow to recycle job
numbers.
To check your current job number in use, run the following SQL statement:

Archive Center 16.2 Release Notes

25
SELECT ROUND(CAST(((2147483647 - max(jobno)) * 100.0 / 2147483647) AS
FLOAT), 4) AS PercentageFree, (2147483647 - max(jobno)) as IdsFree from ds_job;

If PercentageFree is less than 10 percent, contact OpenText Customer Support. Customer

Support will assist you to reorganize the job numbers.

Archive Center 16.2 Release Notes

27
5.12.3 Use of 3rd-party monitoring products
This paragraph addresses support provided by OpenText for its Archive Center software
running with 3rd-party monitoring products.
Monitoring tools are expected to be transparent for the Archive Center software. For
customers who have a support agreement, OpenText will use reasonable efforts to investigate
potential issues with OpenText software running with 3rd party monitoring tools. As part of
that investigation, OpenText may require that the issue be reproduced independently from the
monitoring products. Where issues are confirmed to be unrelated to the monitoring software,
OpenText will support its software in a manner that is consistent with support provided when
that software is not running in such an environment.
5.12.4 Antivirus software

To archive virus-free documents, you must protect the documents from viruses before
archiving. Archive Center does not perform any checks for viruses. To ensure error-free work
of Archive Center, locations where documents are stored temporarily – like disk buffer
partitions, cache partitions, and Document Pipeline directories – must not be scanned by any
antivirus software while Archive Center is using them.
5.12.5 Multi-tenancy

Multi-tenant deployment on premises is not supported.

5.12.6 Storage quotas
Quotas imposed by the operating system on storage platforms are not supported.
This does not apply to quotas imposed by the storage system itself. Storage systems with
quotas must behave like a normal disk partition.
5.12.7 ISO image size

Recommended size for ISO images is 4 GB. Maximum supported size for ISO images is
10 GB.
5.12.8 Maximum number of volumes
Max. number of volumes supported by STORM: 65’000
Max. number of volumes per single file device type (VI): 256

Documents. Replaces AS-8072
AS 7990 Retention prolongation is not done on the storage if there is a pending
write job for the storage.
AS 7814 After deleting a shadow pool, the application server must be restarted.
AS 7768 Wild card search within documents is not possible.
AS 7684 Delayed archiving should not be used for Archives with shadow pool.
AS 5332 Verification of Archisig timestamps is not possible with Volume
Migration
AS 7557 The schema migration of the database must be finished before the
shadow pools can be used.
AS 7037 IXOS, SAP or TSTP must not be used as logical Archive names.
AS 6848 Remote migration of documents with ArchiSig timestamps is not
supported.
AS 6170 Addressing a mount path or network share directly for a disk volume
does not work. It’s required to address a subfolder below the mount
point.

AS 5667 On Unix the change of the process priority with vmclient is not
working.
AS 5559 Custom attributes are only persisted within the database. Restore from
medium is not possible.
AS 5548 Setting parameter CHECK_CONTREP to Off is against the SAP
specification and hence will be no longer available.
AS 5493 verifyATS and getATS for old timestamps (type dsSign) is only
supported if the hash algorithm of the old timestamp is available within
ArchiSig.
AC 916 dsResign is not supported
AS 5334 There might be issues with full qualified (FQDN) and short host names
(SHN). This can be avoided by setting additional variables
MY_HOST_NAME=<SHN> and
MY_HOST_NAME_ALIASES=<FQDN> in DS configuration.
AS 5293 To use form overlays or hyperlinks in print lists in seckey protected
archives it is necessary to enable the signUrl functionality in the
Archive Server.
The use of forms in protected archives is only supported when the data
is also in a protected archive and the leading applications certificate is
also enabled for the archive in which the form is stored.
Contact OpenText Customer Support if you need this functionality.
AS 5279 The replication job can fail to delete a document, if single instance
archiving used. The problem is solved next time the job runs.
AS 5271 ArchiSig must not be used for components of type: single instance
archiving, Blobs and components greater than 500 MB (parameter
BIGSIZE).
Replaces AS-5238
AS 3173 When you delete data in a logical archive that has the retention setting
Purge Destroy (unrecoverable), this results in overwriting of the
document's files with random patterns. This does not work for all file
systems!
E.g.: SUN ZFS uses Copy-on-Write (blocks are not overwritten but
copied) and the NetApp file-system (WAFFLE) uses an identical
mechanism.
The administrator must check how attached file system and storage
system behave on overwriting files when enabling that feature.
AC 3039 Cluster: utility "Reassign work of Node" is non functional
AC 2313 In Access Interface if date is not set it is displayed as 1.1.1970

AC 2350 AC 16.2 installation fails if Tomcat Run As user has notation
[email protected] and the "domain" part does not match the
"domain" of notation domain\username in ActiveDirectory
AC 2988 Document inaccessible if one component file cannot be read. If for one
component of a document there is no location that can be retrieved (e.g.
because the files on disk do not exist) then the JDS refuses to answer
info requests and get-requests for other components, too.
AS 17678 dsTools and volck are able to import more data as expected if EMC
Buckets have the same PEA File. Create for each needed volume a
separate Bucket and also dedicated PEA File to solve this issue.
AS 17669 dsPurgeVol does not delete ISOs from EMC ECS even that the output is
OK, but in the log there is the error "Wrong parameter detected"
mentioned. The ISO needs to be deleted manually afterwards.
AS 18209 verifyAts.exe wrongly parsing expiry dates for Exceet RSASSA-PSS
certificates and displays them not correct.
AC 3869 Node recovery util cannot be used
AS 18054 dsGs hangs when copying docs to different volume on same storage
with 5 threads for S3/HCP/Azure. To avoid the issue make sure than
number of threads for dsGs is smaller than number of sessions.
AS 18235 Enterprise Library/CMIS/ILM records not reliably recognized in cluster
AC 3617 If a component is imported by dsTools in quick mode (option -q) the
first attempt to retrieve such component fails with error
AS 17463 Move of document by migrate to different archive or storage tier
ignored if still in diskbuffer
AS 17377 Move of document by migrate to different storage tier ignored if both
pools share same diskbuffer
AS 17312 With the new ability to use an S3 connection for multiple volumes, it's
possible to also create a volume referencing the actual base directory.
While this operation succeeds, the volume's root directory then includes
the root directory of any volume using the same connection with a top-
level folder. This leads to errors.
AC 3041 Cluster: utility "Reassign work to other node" can break the remaining
node if archisig is used.
AS 18256 Dinfo - different results on Windows and Unix for retention dates
beyond year 3000.
AC 3737 Export-to-Cloud: cannot handle a file called toc file in keystore.

9.2 Archive Center Application Layer and CMIS API
Ensure that the OTDS user partition in OTDS, where the user comes from, belongs to the
corresponding resource in OTDS.
Comp Issue Description
AC 4230 CMIS: Upload of files that are larger than 2 GiB is not supported if the
content length is not set.
AS 17387 CMIS: selecting of a specific version including the latest version is not
supported
AC 1660 CMIS API: Move of folders is not supported
AC 1158 Web applications Access and MyArchive: export fails if documents
with the same filename exist.
Work-around: export in EDRM format
AC 1044 Export/Import using SAP HANA DB Studio not supported
AC 704 Archiving for Content Sever and Volume Migration cannot use Write-
Thru Pools as target.
AC 667 ECMPush cannot be used for documents within CMIS directories with
starting blank
AC 664 Documents ingested via the file share data source cannot be
propagated to Content Server.
AC 481 Changing of default settings for Archives used for ECMPush
(propagation to Content Server) is not supported and should not be
done.
AC 430 CMIS properties of type decimal can’t be propagated to Content
Server
AC 178 Document type used for AFP must not be versionable
AS 16607 Date time search not supported for CMIS custom types
AS 16574 Administration/Access apps
Query for tags must be all lowercase even If tag contains upper case
characters
AS 16503 / must not be used in cmis:name
AS 15969 MS SQL: tagging not possible with double byte characters in tag name
AS 15868 CMIS API: IN_TREE query not supported

Archive Center 16.2 Release Notes

41
AS 9651 If a document changes during the processing in the document pipeline,
the upload within Doc2CMIS fails and the document is dropped into
the error queue. The archive/dp administrator must remove this
document manually by using the tool DPInfo. The document upload
results also in an error entry in as_cmis.log
AS 9490 In certain scenarios the external host name may differ from the
internal host name and the external IP address is not equal to the
internal IP address.
This may break AS internal communication in two ways:
1. Archives are not detected as local because short external host name
cannot be resolved at all on AS
2. Internal RPC call calls to (long or short) external host name are not
recognized as local, which breaks for example, the write tools.
Workaround: Add a line to the hosts file such that both short and fully
qualified external host names are mapped to the internal IP address.
AC 3043 CMIS Date filters are not working in case of internal field mappings of
type date/datetime
AC 2227 AFP business document not processed in Pipeline due to
SAXParseException. Problem is a property value contains the
Unicode 0x0 character. This is not allowed in XML.
AC 1266 In order to activate a full-blown SSL scenario for far variable
FSA.CMIS_HOST must be set to the fully qualified hostname (as
localhost is no longer permitted for SSL)
The xpwd feature used for authentication of CMIS request on proxy
does not work if call is not submitted by localhost
AS 17387 If the latest version of a document is deleted, the document is still
query-able when doing a "Search all versions" but not when doing a
"Search only recent versions".
Workaround: After deleting the latest version of a document, editing
the properties of the document in CMIS without doing any
modifications (only triggering a re-extract of the document of the
indexer) the document is query-able as "Latest Version" again.
Note: Deleting a specific version or the latest version is only possible
using a dedicated client (CMIS Workbench or any other custom
written client, accessing the CMIS Api).
AS 18860 CMIS API not working as expected with Tomcat 8.5.47 onward with
Java 8

9.3 Archive Cache Server
Comp Issue Description
AS 13319 Different (mixed) settings IPv4/IPv6 for Archive Cache Server and
client using the Archive Cache Server is not supported.
AS 5267 It is strongly recommended not to use the root partition as cache
partition.
Windows creates a bunch of system folders in the root partition with
special security settings, for example, System Volume Information,
$RECYCLE.BIN, etc.
In case a checkVolume is made on the Archive Cache Server
partition, it may try to delete these system files. Depending on
user/process rights the behavior is undefined.
Create a directory under the root partition and use this directory as
cache partition.
AS 5228 If both IPv4 and IPv6 are enabled on Archive Server and or Archive
Cache Server, and Tomcat uses NIO connectors the Tomcat will listen
on IPv4 sockets only.
For the copy back job to work it is necessary to add the variable
AS_PREF_IP=4 in the system environment of the Archive server.
ELIB 6823 If the Archive Cache Server is not available, a client using the
Archive Server API sends its requests directly to the Archive Server.
If the client tries to access a placeholder (for a write-back document
residing on the Archive Cache Server which is currently not available)
the Archive Server will redirect the client to the Archive Cache
Server. As the Archive Cache Server is down, the client assumes that
the server it directed the original request to is down, this is the
Archive Server. As a result, the Archive Server will be marked as
down, causing all further client requests to any document on the
Archive Server to fail.
This behavior will prevail until the client refreshes its status info of
the server (some minutes).

Server will reset the Cache Server mode to "Write Through"
AS 15620 SAP System Connection: Feedback user password is restricted to 15
characters.
AS 18401 “/” cannot be used within Connection Name within SAP System
Connection dialog.
AS 16500 reportArchives: Only up to 1000 volumes will be included to the
report.
AC 1624 Deletion of Archives used for a collection must not be done
ADC 428 Scheduled Activities Protocol List is limited to 500 entries; showing
and refreshing the list takes very long
To increase the number of lines of the protocol list (of the jobs of
Archive Server) the user environment variable JOBPAGESIZE can be
set.
AS 18633 List and refresh some ADMC objects failed when changing the one
node to another node in SQL 2017 Always on feature
AS 19809 OTCS Ticket 4641954 - ADMC Call of the Export to Cloud job does not
work with Keystore passwords containing special characters.
