Q4. Predict the direction of induced current in the situations described by the following figures (a) and (b).
Q5. A pair of adjacent coils has a mutual inductance of 1.5H. If the current in one coil changes from 0 to 20A in
0.5s, what is the change flux linkage with the other coil ?

Q6. Prove that the magnitude of the emf induced in a conductor of length l when it moves at v m/s perpendicular to
a uniform magnetic field B is Blv.
Q7. (a) Predict the polarity of the capacitor in the situation described by the figure.
(b) What is the dimensional formula for the coefficient of self-inductance of a coil?
Q8. A 1 metre long conducting rod rotates with an angular speed of 400 rad sec–1 about an axis normal to the rod
passing through its one end. The other end of the rod is in contact with a circular metallic ring. A constant
magnetic field of 0.5 T parallel to the axis exists every where. Calculate the e.m.f. developed between the
centre and the ring.

(b) How does this magnetic energy compare with the electrostatic energy stored in a capacitor ?

Q11. (a) Define self inductance. Write its SI unit.
(b) Drive an expression for self-inductance of a long solenoid of length l, having N number of turns.
Q12. Define mutual inductance between two long coaxial solenoids. Find out the expression for the mutual
inductance of inner solenoid of length l having the radius r1 and the number of turns n1 per unit length due to
the second outer solenoid of same length and n 2 number of turns per unit length.
Q13. (a) A rectangle coil of N turns, area A is held in a uniform magnetic field B. If the coil is rotated at a steady
angular speed , deduce an expression for the induced emf in the coil at any instant of time.
(b) Explain how does the emf vary when the coil turns through an angle 2 ? What is the instantaneous value
of induced emf when the plane of the coil makes an angle of 60° with the magnetic lines.

same speed as above?
