Project Objective
Create a voice activated personal assistant to be worn on the ear by the end of Q4 2014.

Company Background
Xxxxxxxx ltd. is one of the pioneers in voice technology. We have one of the largest
dedicated speech engineering teams and have been building voice applications for more
than two decades. We've built voice applications on mobile phones, in car systems,
personal navigation devices, on PCs and a variety of home and mobile devices. While
voice has now gained acceptance from consumers as an important part of the device
interface, it is clear that people want more than what's being delivered to the market.
Imagine being able to take meeting minutes, reserving hotel or flight and do everything a
personal assistant can do on the go with your voice commands. This is our new venture.

Strategic Fit
Introducing a new product that could start a whole new industry. Analysis shows a
potential return of investment for this product to be 175% which is 85% for first year and
45% for second and third year.

Project Description
Company is introducing radically new product to marketplace, giving our corporation the
eight month advantage of being the sole vendor in this industry. The product must
integrate not only with our existing products but also those of the competitors so as to pull
market share away from them. The main customer will be the early adaptor, who is used
to some minor issues with products.

Project Scope
In Scope
1. Product should be able to perform internet searches, make hotel, flight and

restaurant reservations.
2. Take dictations and email or fax the results
3. Be able to make phones calls using its own voice.
4. It must be small enough to be worn on the ear and respond to voice commands

only.
5. Product will be entirely voice activated and managed.

Out of Scope
1. Project does not call for typed entry into the system.
2. Creating marketing, advertising and promotional plans are not part of this project

1. Working prototype that meets the requirements by Q2 2013
2. A plan for manufacturing and transitioning the project to the manufacturing

environment by Q4 2013.

Approximate cost of the project is US $ 4,800,000

Project Constraints
Schedule is fixed since time to market release will be most important. Cost and scope will
be lowest priority.

Project Risk
1. This is entirely new and untested product for our company, we may have difficulty
in achieving the high standard of quality and reliability in the initial release that our
customer have come to expect of our products, resulting in damage to companys
reputation.
2. We are in a highly competitive industry, we may have information leaks, resulting in

our competitors learning about the product and potentially losing three to six months of
product advantage.

Project opportunity
This is a new type of product in the marketplace; a successful product may launch a new
industry resulting in our company being at the forefront.
