The document outlines a series of lessons on animation techniques, including frame-by-frame animation, shape tweens, and motion tweens. Each lesson provides step-by-step instructions for creating various animations, such as a bouncing ball, morphing shapes, and path animations. Additionally, it covers advanced topics like refining tweens, importing images, and using masks in animation projects.

Lesson 2: Motion tweens Lesson 3: Shape tweens Lesson 4: Refining tweens and Gradients Lesson 5: Importing, tracing and using vectors Lesson 6: Masks Lesson 7: Following a path Lesson 1: Frame-by-frame
a) Draw the background. Rename the layer to “background”.
b) Create an additional layer: i) Rename the layer to “ball” ii) Use the circle tool to draw a ball floating in the air c) Make the ball fall and bounce by adding multiple keyframes d) Use onion-skinning to guide you e) Use the Free selection tool to squash the ball as it hits the ground f) Add frames to the background layer so that it persists across all frames Lesson 2: Shape Tween
a) Draw a red rectangle with a blue stroke in the first frame.
b) Add a blank keyframe on the same layer in the 30th frame. c) In this frame draw a green circle with a black stroke. d) Create a shape tween to morph the rectangle into the circle.
a) Use ovals to draw the small guy.
b) Add a blank keyframe on the same layer. c) In this frame draw the big green guy. d) Create a shape tween to morph the small guy into the big green guy. e) Use shape hints on the feet, elbows and head of the guy to help guide the tween. i) Go to the first key frame ii) Add 5 shape hints iii) (To add a shape hint go to Modify → Shape → Add Shape Hint) iv) Move one hint to the left foot, one to the right foot, one to the left elbow, one to the right elbow and one to the top of the head v) Go to the second key frame vi) Move each corresponding hint to the corresponding location (left foot, right foot, left elbow, right elbow and top of the head) Lesson 3: Motion Tween
a) Draw the background
b) Draw the ball on a new layer c) Draw the golf club on a new layer d) Use a motion tween to rotate the golf club e) At the right frame, use a motion tween to move the ball f) At the right frame, use a motion tween and a scale tween to move and shrink the hole Lesson 4: Refine Tween and Gradients
a) Draw the background
b) Give the sky a nice gradient c) Draw the rocket, the moon and the explosion each on their own layer d) Use a motion tween to guide the rocket along the given curved path e) Refine the tween so that the motion of the rocket starts slowly, and keeps speeding up until it hits the moon f) Use a shape two to enlarge the explosion and then gradually fades out to transparent Lesson 5: Importing, Tracing and Vectors
a) Import the picture.
b) Trace it to convert it to vector. c) Remove the white background.
a) Use the pen tool and the subselection tool to create the four suits in cards. b) Use a shape tween to morph between them. Lesson 6: Masks
a) Create a radial gradient in colour
b) Duplicate the layer and convert the colour gradient to black and white c) Animate a shape similar to the picture above d) Use masking to create the effect shown above Lesson 7: Paths
a) Draw the green arrow
b) Add a frame in frame 30 and create a Classic Tween c) Enable “Snap to Objects” d) Right click on the layer name and select Add Classic Motion Guide e) Using the pen tool draw the path f) Set the starting position of the arrow, make sure it is snapping to the path g) Set the final position of the arrow, make sure it is snapping to the path h) Adjust the angle manually using multiple key frames
