Ladies and Gentlemen,

Good morning and welcome to our student orientation! My name is Ms. Charity L. Cotejo and I am thrilled to
be one of the Speech Laboratory teacher-in-charge. Today, I am excited to introduce you to our Speech
Laboratory here in Mercy Junior College, Inc., a place designed to enhance your learning experience and help
you develop your pronunciation and communication skills.

Our Speech Laboratory is a state-of-the-art facility equipped with the latest technology and resources. Whether
you are here to improve and refine your pronunciation, or practice for presentations, our lab provides the perfect
environment for you to succeed.

Let me take a moment to highlight the goals and objectives of the laboratory to ensure that everyone can benefit
from this space:

Goals for Speech Laboratory

1. Enhance Communication Skills:


o Develop and refine students' public speaking abilities.
o Improve articulation, pronunciation, and fluency in speech.
2. Boost Confidence:
o Create a supportive environment where students can practice speaking without fear.
o Provide opportunities for students to overcome stage fright and anxiety.
3. Develop Critical Listening Skills:
o Train students to evaluate and provide constructive feedback on speeches.
o Improve the ability to discern key points and arguments in oral presentations.
4. Foster Creativity and Expression:
o Encourage creative speechwriting and storytelling.
o Support the use of various speech formats and styles.
5. Enhance Technical Skills:
o Teach the use of audiovisual aids and technology in presentations.
o Introduce students to the basics of speech recording and editing.

Objectives for Speech Laboratory

1. Weekly Speech Practice Sessions:


o Conduct regular practice sessions where students can deliver speeches and receive feedback.
o Rotate different types of speeches (informative, persuasive, impromptu, etc.) to provide a well-
rounded experience.
2. Feedback and Evaluation System:
o Implement a structured feedback system where peers and instructors can provide constructive
criticism.
o Use rubrics to objectively assess various aspects of speech performance.
3. Use of Technology:
o Incorporate video recording and playback for self-assessment.
o Utilize speech analysis software to help students identify and correct issues in their speech
patterns.
4. Individual Coaching:
o Offer one-on-one coaching sessions to address specific needs and challenges faced by students.
o Develop personalized improvement plans for each student.
5. Peer Learning and Collaboration:
o Encourage peer learning through group activities and collaborative projects.

Orientation for Teachers Using the Speech Laboratory

Location: The speech laboratory is located in the NMCH building, just in front of the library.

Availability:

 The speech laboratory is only available for junior high school students.
 Each section can use the lab once a week for one hour.

Do's and Don'ts for students

Do's
1. BE ON TIME: At the start of the laboratory period, there will be a short introduction to the
activity you will perform that day.
2. INFORM THE TEACHER-INCHARGE IF THERE IS A PROBLEM: You will have their
immediate attention if you cut yourself [even if you consider it minor], if something broke
and needs cleaning up, or if you on fire.
3. BE AWARE OF ALL THE DEVICES : Even though the teacher-incharge will take care of
emergencies, you should know how to use appropriately all the devices .
4. Equipment will be held accountable and charge for the cost of replacing any damaged
components.
5. Keep your things outside the laboratory or in your classroom.
6. Wear your foot map inside the laboratory.
Don'ts

1. Do not eat, drink, chew gum, smoke, or apply cosmetics in the laboratory.
2. Do not bring writing materials and any things that will damage the device.
3. Do not wear slippers, sandals or shoes inside laboratory to avoid damages.

By adhering to these guidelines, we can maintain a productive and safe environment for everyone using the
speech laboratory. Thank you for your cooperation.

Our Speech Laboratory is more than just a facility; it is a community. Here, you will find support from both
your peers and our dedicated staff. We are committed to helping you achieve your goals and to fostering an
environment where you can grow and excel.

Remember, the skills you develop here will serve you well beyond your time in this institution. Effective
communication is a vital skill in every field, and our lab is designed to give you the tools and confidence you

blessing on this meeting and orientation, as we welcome new teachers into our fold.

Grant us wisdom, patience, and understanding as we discuss and plan for the days ahead. May our efforts be
guided by Your divine wisdom and may our words and actions reflect Your love and grace.

Bless the new teachers among us as they embark on this journey. Fill them with enthusiasm, strength, and the
spirit of collaboration. May they find joy in teaching, fulfillment in their work, and support from their
colleagues.

We ask for Your protection and guidance in all that we do, and may Your peace and wisdom be with us today
and always.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

As we conclude this meeting and orientation, we thank You for Your presence among us and for the guidance
You have provided throughout our discussions and planning. We are grateful for the opportunity to come
together as a community of educators, committed to shaping the future through our teaching.

We lift up our new teachers to You, asking that You bless them with confidence, wisdom, and perseverance as
they begin their journey with us. May they feel welcomed and supported, finding joy and fulfillment in their
work.

Protect us and our students as we go our separate ways. May Your peace, love, and wisdom continue to guide
us in all our endeavors, and may we return to our tasks refreshed and inspired.
