IOT BASED AIR POLLUTION/QUALITY MONITORING SYSTEM

ABSTRACT:
Air pollution is a critical environmental concern, impacting both human health and the
well-being of all living beings. To address this issue, a proposed IoT-based Air Pollution Monitoring
System utilizes three sensors: PMS5003 PM2.5 Particulate Matter Sensor, MQ-135 Air Quality Sensor,
and BME280 Barometric Pressure Sensor. These sensors effectively gauge the levels of different gases
and particles present in the air, enabling accurate air quality assessment .

The system operates by transmitting sensor data to a cloud server through an ESP8266
Wi-Fi module and Arduino microcontroller. This data is then displayed on a user-friendly web page.
To ensure public safety, an alarm is triggered when the air quality index surpasses a predefined
threshold. This real-time information empowers individuals to make informed decisions about
outdoor activities and potential exposure to harmful pollutants.

Designed for versatility, the IoT-based Air Pollution Monitoring System can be easily
installed in any location, delivering real-time air quality updates to users. Beyond simply informing the
public, this system has the capability to control devices like exhaust fans or air purifiers, based on
pollution levels. This proactive approach enhances the quality of indoor air and further contributes to
reducing the adverse effects of air pollution on human health and the environment.
