Failed to Start LabSolutions – Error 190b

Error 190b will be displayed when something has corrupted a batch file. For LabSolutions IR (FTIR) the
equivalent of this error is displayed as a .NET error.
Important notes: This process requires that the user login has administrative rights on the PC

To Fix Error 190b


1) First, try a fresh ethernet cable (if new cable unavailable then unplug/plug back in)

2) If LSSService Monitor is not stopped (the icon in the lower right is not red ), stop LSSService using
the following steps:
a. Open [Services] from the Start menu and select LSSService
b. R-click and [Stop] the service (if [Stop Other Services] window is displayed, click [Yes])

c. Wait for the service monitor to turn red

Note: If it remains yellow , perform the following procedure to force kill the service:

• Open [Task Manager] by pressing and holding [Ctrl+Shift+Esc]


• On the [Task Manager] window select “Details” tab
• Right-click on “LSSService.exe and click [End process tree]

3) Navigate to [C:\LabSolutions] and delete the [Work] folder (this will not affect data)
4) Navigate to [C:\LabSolutions\Log] folder and delete (or move to temporary folder) the following files:

C:\LabSolutions\Log
• LSSLocalLog.mdb
• LSSLog.mdb*
*Do not to delete LSSLocalLog.mdb.template
5) Reboot PC and check if LabSolutions can be opened successfully
If error 190b persists, proceed with the steps below

6) Navigate to [C:\LabSolutions\System] folder and delete (or move to temporary folder) the following files:

C:\LabSolutions\System
• ShimadzuAttestObstacle.mdb
• ShimadzuAttest.mdb
• LSSProfileObstacle.mdb
• LSSProfile.mdb
• LoginManagement.mdb
Note: In LabSolutions Workstation deletion of these files will remove all current users and configured instruments

If some of the files cannot be deleted/moved, the programs that are using them will need to be stopped
first
As an example:
If LSSProcessController.exe is holding the file, open [Task Manager] and stop it

7) Reboot PC

If the LSSService Monitor is yellow


Reboot PC two more times
If the LabSolutions symbol does not turn green, contact Shimadzu tech support

If the LSSService Monitor is red


R-click on the icon and select [Start]
If the LabSolutions symbol does not turn green, contact Shimadzu tech support
