1. Goto vector menu
2. Go GPS
3. Click on GPS tools.

 Adding GPX file into Software.

1. Load GPX File
2. Browse file in folder
3. Check on “Tracks” check box
4. Click ok.
Track gets added in work space area layer is added in layers panel.

 To editing the polygon GPX file convert into Shape file In layers panel right click on
Layer in layer panel.
1. In Format tab – Select for ESRI Shape File
2. Browse and give appropriate file location with proper file name
3. In CRS – convert to EPSG 32643 – WGS 84/ UTM Zone 44N as the location
belongs to UTM zone 44 N. This is being done to convert into projected Co-
ordinate System (PCS). Depending upon location give appropriate zones.
4. Click Ok.

 Click on “New” icon to remove the existing layers.
1. Click Add vector layer to add shape file
2. Browse the file in location then select shape file (.shp).
3. Then open.

 New layer is added and is as follows

1. Click on “toggle editing” icon
 Check for location of the file with areas having distorted boundaries

 Now to rectify the boundary by selecting “Node tool” icon and remove
unwanted vertices and rectify boundary by moving last node using snapping tools
option located in Settings Menu. Keep parameters of snapping tools as displayed
below. Then click on ok.

 Zoom to line where rectification is needed and click on line to select layer and delete
unwanted nodes and rectify boundary.

 After editing boundaries click on toggle editing which shall give pop-up-window as
follows and where you will click on save option.

 After completing editing now to convert line to polygon.

1. Goto “Vector” Menu from Menu bar
2. select “Geometry tools”.
3. click on “lines to polygon” option.

 Select on tab besides “polygon from lines” option
1. Give appropriate Input layer, which is converted Line to Polygon.
2. Assign file name and save
3. Click on “Run”. New layer gets created

 2. Creating Vector Grid
 To create grid check whether “Processing” plugin is activated or not.
 Check in Plugin Menu click on Manage and install Plugin search “Processing”
plugin is on or not? Check in box to switch on “Processing”
 Then click on “Vector” menu – “Research tools” – “Vector Grid”

 The “Vector Grid window” will look like this

Parameters should be
1. Grid Extent - layer extent i.e. select layer name
2. Give X spacing and Y Spacing
o As 100 and 50 meters, if the CRS of the shapefile is in UTM Coordinate
system.
o As 0.0009 and 0.00045 Decimal degrees, if CRS of the shapefile is in WGS84
Coordinate system.
3. Output Grid type – Output Grid as Polygon
4. Grids – Define location as well as file name save
5. Run

 After the vector Grid process run then New layer is added and is as follows.

 Switch off other layers by removing check from layer in layer panel option.

 To view polygon layer as hollow layer.

1. Right click on layer name containing Grid.
2. Goto “Properties”- Select “Style”
3. Click on “Simple Fill”
4. Fill Style No Brush.
5. In Symbol Layer Type Select on “Outline Simple Line”.
6. Apply and Ok.

 Switch –off Toggle editing and save changes.
 To clip Grid to polygon extent.
1. Click on “Vector” menu
2. Go to geo-processing Tools
3. click on Clip option. 1

 In this window Input layer shall be layer containing grid and clip layer shall be layer
with polyon of treatment area.
1. Input Layer-grid.
2. Clip layer-polygon.
3. Give output Name of clip file in Folder.
4. Run.

 After the Clip process done then New layer is added and is as follows.

 Remove all other layers except Clipped Grid Layer.

 Adding Base line To create Base line layer
1. Go to Layer Menu
2. Create Layer.
3. New Shape File.

 Open new shape file window.
1. Select shape type-Line
2. Use Correct Projection i.e EPSG: 32644-WGS 84/UTM-44N.
3. New Field Name:-Base Line.
4. Click on Ok.

 To Create Base line Click on newly added base line layer in Layer panel then begin
with toggle editing option – Add Feature Icon and add base line in the polygon on
longest line in Polygon as follows

 Draw the base line which as longest polygon on longest line.
 Click on other end of line – right click to end line add the Id number and other details
and click ok. New base line is created.
 Save Edits.

 Right click on layer name containing Base Line.

1. Goto “Properties”- Select “Style”
2. Click on “Simple Line”
3. Select Colour
4. Increase Line width.
5. Pen style
6. Apply and Ok.

  After Add base line then New layer is added and is as follows.

 To name the Grid

Right click on Clipped Grid Layer
Open attribute table Initially Field has to be created.

 To add field for naming grids its parameters are as follows
1. Type shall be Text with appropriate field name
2. Field Type-Text
3. length – 5
4. Ok

 New field is added – Now select individual grids by select icon then add its name in
attribute table individually for all grids as follows

  To display labels of these grids right click on clipped Grid layer.
1. Goto open Attribute table.
2. Start toggle editing mode.
3. Then select the single square on the map which as start from right side of map.
4. Give the name of the square.i.e-L1, L2 or R1, R2.

 after giving this labels Save edits.

 To display labels of these grids right click on layer Properties

1. Labels – select on Show label option in topmost drop down box –
2. Label with appropriate filed name –
3. Apply – Ok

 To calculate area –
1. Right click on clipped grid layer
2. Open attribute table.
3. Click on “Open Field Calculator” icon

 Open field calculator table then Define parameters as follows to calculate area in
hector.
1. Output field name-Area
2. Output field type-Decimal Number.
3. Geometry
4. Click on $area/10000
5. Click ok.

1. Right click on Drainage layer
2. Click on Open attribute table
3. Open attribute table than click on “open Field Calculator” icon
4. Field calculator window will appear, then on update existing field
5. Existing window select
6. Goto Geometry and double click on $length
7. $length will show in Preview window box.
8. Then click ok.

 How to calculate grid Nodes.

2. Geometry Tools
3. Click on Extract nodes.

 Open Extract nodes

1. Input layer:-Clipped_Grid
2. Nodes:Save Output Name.

 5. Creating Map for Display

 Creatin a Map for Display

1. Go to Project
2. Click on New Pint Composer.

 Click on Print Composer window then new Composer title window will appear give a
title name of Map.
 Press Ok.

  The Map composer window opens and is as follows
1. Click on add new map.
2. Drag the mouse by clicking in open space.

 Map is displayed within this extent – affix scale to appropriate extent as shown in
Item properties panel located in right hand side.

 Table: Compartment Details

1. Go to plantation polygon folder and open “.dbf” file in Excel Format

2. Save .dbf file of Plantation polygon data in to a new excel file

3. Now select all (cntrl+A), then take a new sheet , and select
transpose under “paste” dropdown
4. Now Select Plant ID, Circle, Division, range, Round, Beat, 3
Compart No, AreaInHa and Gross Area rows and paste in new
sheet and save it as “compartment details table”

1. Take a new Excel and create a table similar to below table and save it as “Year

 Now In QGIS,

  Now you can see some random data, to change that right click on top panel bar and
choose “Item Properties”

 In item Properties Under the Layer dropdown, select compartment details excel file

 Now we can see the compartment details table in layout map.

 In the similar way, add “Year and Scheme table” and “Field verification table” in to
the layout view.
 Also, from Layout tab click on “Add Label” and draw a box on layout map.
 Then on the right side, under item Properties change text as “Software Used QGIS-
2.18.20”
 Finally, Set all the Tables at relative positions as shown below fig.
