CONNECTING TO GOD
AS A TEENAGER
Almost

5 BILLION
people are connected
to the internet

According to a January 2022 study by DataReportal

Do you have
a smart phone?
More and more teenagers
are connected to the internet
and use social media.
Connecting is

FUN!
We all need a friend.
Someone to talk to.
Someone to share life with.
Someone to celebrate with.
A shoulder to cry on.
Is He still alive? Does He think about me?
Where can I find Him?

WHAT ABOUT GOD?

Where is He? Am I important to Him?
Is He even real?
Is the Bible real? Does He hear me?
God is personal.
He wants to connect with you!
The Bible is filled with stories of people
like you and me who are connected to God.
How close
is He?
The Lord is close to all who call on him,
yes, to all who call on him in truth.

PSALM 145:18 NLT

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted;
he rescues those whose spirits are
crushed.

PSALM 34:18 NLT

Whatever you’re feeling,
God is close to you.
God wants to have a relationship
with you even though you think
you’re not good enough.
For this is how God loved the world: He gave
his one and only Son, so that everyone who
believes in him will not perish but have
eternal life.

JOHN 3:16 NLT

I find it hard to connect to God.
TEN
TEEN
TIPS
Establish a true
1 connection
1 Establish a true connection
A true connection is established
when you believe in your heart and
in your mind that God is real and true
even though you cannot see Him
face to face. God is spirit and your
inner spirit longs for Him.

The password is Jesus Christ. Since God is
spirit, He came down and took form as a
human. He sacrificed Himself to save us
even if we failed Him many times. His
love allows us to enter that connection.
This password is not hidden.
But God showed his great love for us by
sending Christ to die for us while we were still
sinners.

ROMANS 5:8 NLT

If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and
believe in your heart that God raised him
from the dead, you will be saved.

ROMANS 10:9 NLT

Start talking
3 to God
3 Start talking to God
Remember that you already have a
connection with God by accepting Jesus
Christ in your life and believing in Him.
Start talking to Him by the words of your
heart, mind or lips.
Be honest
4 to Him
4 Be honest to Him
Tell Him how you are feeling
today—whether you are happy,
sad, or tired. Tell Him the things
you did, the things you are
planning to do or the things you
are hoping for in your life.
Always
remember that
5 He cares for
you
5 Always remember that He
cares for you
He cares about what you are
feeling or what you are going
through. You are not alone in life.
Even though other people are not
by your side, He is there and He
cares for you.
Give all your worries and cares to God,
for he cares about you.

1 PETER 5:7 NLT

Put distractions
6 aside
6 Put distractions aside
If you want to have your personal
time talking with God, you have to
put aside thoughts, objects or
activities that will distract you or
catch your attention.
He speaks
7 through His
Word
7 He speaks through His Word

The most basic way God speaks to

us is through His Word or the
Scriptures. You can open it and
read many stories of people who
lived their lives connected to Him.
His Word is not outdated.
God speaks to us even in this
modern time. He doesn’t want
us to be left out.

8 Develop a habit of
communication
Developing your communication
with God by constantly putting
yourself in an attitude of prayer.
Prayer is simply talking to God.
Talk to Him with all your heart.
Fancy words are not needed. All it
takes is honesty. You can talk to
Him at all times.
Pray like this:
Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy.

MATTHEW 6:9-13 NLT

May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth,
as it is in heaven.

MATTHEW 6:9-13 NLT

Give us today the food we need, and forgive
us our sins, as we have forgiven those who
sin against us.

MATTHEW 6:9-13 NLT

And don’t let us yield to temptation,
but rescue us from the evil one.

MATTHEW 6:9-13 NLT

God sees you
and He listens
9 to you
9 God sees you and He
listens to you
You may not always hear a clear
voice through your ears but you
can definitely experience feelings.
One of which is peace and joy
even when times are tough. He
will also remind you of His Word.
And the very hairs on your head are all
numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more
valuable to God than a whole flock of
sparrows.

LUKE 12:7 NLT

Find friends who
can help you
10 grow this
connection
10 Find friends who can help
you grow this connection
Having friends who support your
journey with God is a gift. Also be
a friend that is going to be there
for others and will help you
strengthen your connection to
Him.
O Lord, you have examined my heart
and know everything about me.
You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my thoughts even when I’m far
away.

PSALM 139:1-18 NLT

You see me when I travel
and when I rest at home.
You know everything I do.
You know what I am going to say
even before I say it, Lord.

PSALM 139:1-18 NLT

You go before me and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my
head. Such knowledge is too wonderful for
me, too great for me to understand!

PSALM 139:1-18 NLT

I can never escape from your Spirit!
I can never get away from your presence!
If I go up to heaven, you are there;
if I go down to the grave, you are there.

PSALM 139:1-18 NLT

If I ride the wings of the morning,
if I dwell by the farthest oceans,
even there your hand will guide me,
and your strength will support me.

PSALM 139:1-18 NLT

I could ask the darkness to hide me
and the light around me to become
night— but even in darkness I cannot hide
from you. To you the night shines as bright as
day. Darkness and light are the same to you.

PSALM 139:1-18 NLT

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my
body and knit me together in my mother’s
womb. Thank you for making me so
wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is
marvelous—how well I know it.

PSALM 139:1-18 NLT

You watched me as I was being formed in
utter seclusion, as I was woven together in
the dark of the womb.

PSALM 139:1-18 NLT

You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your
book. Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.

PSALM 139:1-18 NLT

How precious are your thoughts
about me, O God. They cannot be
numbered! I can’t even count them;
they outnumber the grains of sand!
And when I wake up,
you are still with me!

PSALM 139:1-18 NLT
