ARC. 121 - DRAFTING AND DETAILING 1 - HOUSE

Overview:
This project focuses on drawing systems. The student will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge
and skills acquired to develop an in-depth understanding of wood-frame construction systems
components, details and working drawing techniques

Guidelines:
• Analyze the typical wall section from your manual, floor and roof systems junctions as it
relates to construction details for light wood-frame construction.

• Prepare working drawing wall section, demonstrating architectural drawing conventions


and symbols, manual or AutoCAD drafting skills, dimensioning methodology and sheet
layout.
• In preparation for this assignment, you must read general information section for your manual.
You are asked to read through and complete the requirements outlined in your manual. Pages
A1, B7,B10,C3,D2,D13,D14,D17,17,D19,E34-41,F50-51

• Apply appropriate and residential sustainable solutions and address building code issues as
they pertain to the design project.

Final Submission Requirements:

• Drawings are to be created using AutoCAD and printed and on 24” x 36”
sheets.

• Bring preliminary work in to critique/studio time.

Evaluation: This project accounts for 20% of the total grade in the course. Work of
an inferior or unacceptable quality may be returned to students who
shall then be required to re-submit within 1 week at a penalty of 50%,
c late assignments – 2% per day up to 5 days.
