f (p, q) = 0:

(a) (y − x)(qy − px) = (p − q)2 .

(b) p2 + p = q 2 .

(c) z 2 xp2 + yq 2 = 1.

(d) p+ q = 1.

(e) pq = xm y n z 2l .
Q2. Using the Charpit’s auxiliary equations, solve the following partial differential equations of the form
f (z, p, q) = 0:

(a) p + q = z.

(b) z 2 (p2 z 2 + q 2 ) = 1.

(c) z 2 = 1 + p2 + q 2 .
(d) p2 = qz.
(e) z = pq + p + q = 0.
Q3. Using the Charpit’s auxiliary equations, solve the following partial differential equations of the form
f (x, p) = g(y, q):

(a) p − x2 = q + y 2 .
(b) q = xyp2 .
(c) pq = x4 y 3 z 4 .

(d) p+ q = 2x.

(e) p2 + q 2 = z 2 (x + y).

Q4. Solve the following Clairut’s equations:

(a) z = px + qy + sin(p + q).

(b) z = px + qy − 2 pq.
