Lesson Plan Sa AL Process Oriented

The daily lesson plan for Grade 7 Mathematics focuses on solving problems related to the sides and angles of polygons, emphasizing the understanding of interior and exterior angles. The lesson includes various activities, such as group discussions and problem-solving exercises, to engage students and apply the formulas learned. Resources like protractors, rulers, and cut-out polygons are utilized to facilitate learning and appreciation of polygons in real life.

Daily Lesson Plan in Mathematics 7

Name: Rene Boy P. Nioda Grade/Year Level: 7

: Mark Ivan Jose R Mantalaba

Learning Area: Mathematics Quarter: 3 Module: 1

Competency: Solve problems involving the sides and angles of polygons

Lesson Duration:(minutes/hours) 1 hour

Key Understanding The sum of interior and exterior angles of polygons follows specific rules
to be Developed

Learning Objectives Knowledge Apply the formulas for interior and exterior
angles

Skills Solve problems involving polygons.

Attitude Appreciate the importance of polygons in

real life

Resources Needed  Protractors and rulers

 Graphing paper
 Cut-out polygons (triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, etc.)
 Markers and chart paper

Elements of the Plan Methodology

Preparations Introductory Activity 1. Greetings

- How will make the (5 minutes) 2. Prayer

-How do I prepare the 4. Recapitulation
learners’ for the new
lesson?
-How will I connect my Activity Motivational Activity
new (15 minutes) The class will be grouped into two groups.
lesson with the past
lesson? Present images of real-life objects with
polygonal shapes (e.g., stop signs, floor
tiles, bridges and etc. )

Each group will be guessing what objects I

was showing to them.

Each group will compete who answers first.

Analysis Ask the following questions :
(5 minutes) 1. Did you have fun during our activity?
2. Did you find it difficult or easy?
3. What do you think will be our next
topic?
4. Are you ready for our next lesson?

Presentation Abstraction What is a Polygon?

-How will I present the (15 minutes) A polygon is a closed figure made up of
new lesson? straight-line segments.
-What materials will I It is classified by the number of sides (e.g.,
use? -What triangle = 3 sides, quadrilateral = 4 sides,
generalization pentagon = 5 sides).
/concept/conclusion Regular polygons have equal sides and
/abstraction should the angles, while irregular polygons do not.
learners arrive at? 2. Sum of Interior Angles of a Polygon
The sum of the interior angles of a polygon
with n sides is given by the formula:

=(𝑛−2)×180
Sum of interior angles

Sum of interior angles=(n−2)×180

Example:
A pentagon has 5 sides.

Using the formula:

(5−2)×180
3×180=540°

So, the sum of the interior angles of a

pentagon is 540°.
3. Exterior Angles of a Polygon
The sum of the exterior angles of any
polygon is always 360°, regardless of the
number of sides.

Each exterior angle of a regular polygon

can be found using:

Exterior Angle = 360°/n

Example: A hexagon (6 sides):

360°/60°= 60°
Each exterior angle of a regular hexagon is
60°
Finding Unknown Angles in a Polygon
If some interior or exterior angles are
missing, students can use the formulas
above to find them.
Example Problem:
A quadrilateral has three interior angles:
80°, 95°, and 100°. Find the missing angle.
Solution:

𝑥=360−(80+95+100)
360 =80+95+100+ x

𝑥=85°
The missing angle is 85°.

Practice Application Solve the ff:

-What practice (15 minutes) 1. A decagon (10-sided polygon) is drawn

activities will I give to interior angles.
the learners? 2. A quadrilateral has three interior angles:
85°, 110°, and 75°. Find the missing angle
3. A regular octagon (8 sides) is drawn on
a design plan. Find the measure of one
exterior angle.
4. A regular polygon has each interior
angle measuring 140°. How many sides
does it have?
5. An architect is designing a hexagonal
window where each interior angle must be
equal. What is the measure of each interior
angle?

Generalization 1. Are there any clarifications?

(5 minutes) 2. Are there any further questions?
