Find the roots of the quadratic equation 2x2 + x = 4 = 0, by the method of completing the
square.

12. Rohan's mother is 26 years older than him. The product of their ages (in years) 3 years
from now will be 360. Find Rohan's present age.

Or

Find the nature of the roots of the quadratic equation :

3x2 - 4√3x + 4 = 0.

If the real roots exist, find them.

13. Prove that if a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle to intersect the other two
sides in distinct points, then the other two sides are divided in the same ratio.

Draw a pair of tangents to a circle of radius 5 cm which are inclined to each other at an
angle of 60°.

20. A 20 m deep well with diameter 7 m is dug and the earth from digging is evenly
spread out to form a platform 22 m by 14 m. Find the height of the platform.

Or

A solid is in the shape of a cone standing on a hemisphere with both their radii being equal
to 1 cm and the height of the cone is equal to its radius. Find the volume of the solid in
terms of π.
