PART II
BERNADETTE: To our distinguished Public Schools District Supervisor, highly
respected and active School Principals, equally able department heads,
highly competent and deeply motivated members of the faculty and staff of
different schools in Gamu District, to the proud, supportive and loving
parents, dear learners, athletes, visitors and friends, ladies and gentlemen,
good morning and wwelcome to Gamu Secondary Schools Athletic
Association District Meet 2024!
BERNADETTE: I am Bernadette D. Lintao
HASLIE: and I am Haslie Daggao
BOTH: And we are your Masters of Ceremonies for today.
BERNADETTE: We are here again in another festival of strength, power, and
camaraderie. As we all know, school is a place where learners are nurtured
toward becoming a responsible and productive member of society.
Intramurals or sports competition is essential to the well-being of the
students. Sports instill how to win, how to accept defeat, how to interact with
other people and how to mold them to have a desirable character trait that
are vital in achieving success in the future. As Julie Foudy once said, “Sports
build good habits, confidence, and discipline. They make players into
community leaders and teach them how to strive for a goal, handle mistakes,
and cherish growth opportunities.”
HASLIE: That is correct, partner! Intramurals is actually one of the most
awaited events in school for this is where learners will be able to show their
skills and abilities in SPORTS. It means intramurals emphasizes how sports
shape our bodies and personalities in a society where moral principles and
physical well-being are highly valued.
BERNADETTE: Absolutely right, partner! Whether we win or lose, playing
sports teaches us important life values like discipline, fair play, collaboration,
and resilience. It cultivates lifelong love of exercise and a dedication to
health. Let’s keep in mind that as we set out on this competitive adventure,
it’s not just about winning; it’s also about friendships we make, the lessons
we learn, and the values we uphold. Our District Athletic Meet was designed
to foster a comprehensive understanding of physical education in which the
growth of the intellect and body are equally valued.
HASLIE: This sports activity is actually the application of knowledge and
skills learned during the lower years in Physical Education.
BERNADETTE: As I mentioned a while back, this activity is for our learners
to participate, that also means that students’ participation will greatly
contribute to the success of this District Intramurals, and hopefully, we can
produce athletes that will qualify in the higher competition.
Before we formally start the program, can we have an energy check?
HASLIE: Sure, partner! So, as we call your team, give us the brightest, the
biggest, the loudest, and grandest shout that you can ever give. So, are you
ready?
BERNADETTE: Where are the delegates of GAMU RURAL SCHOOL
ANNEX?
HASLIE: How about the MABINI NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL?
BERNADETTE: How about the ISABELA SPORTS SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL?
HASLIE: And lastly, where are the delegates of GAMU AGRI-FISHERY
SCHOOL?
BERNADETTE: WOW! The whole gymnasium is really full of energy. Now, to
honor and salute our Philippine Flag, may we request everyone to please rise
for the singing of the Philippine National Anthem to be conducted by Ma’am
Cargin Z. Lambenicio, Teacher III of GAMU AGRI-FISHERY SCHOOL, and
before we commence our athletic endeavors, let us come together in unity
and reflection with a sports prayer, to be led by Sir QUMAR JESSIE T.
TOLENTINO, Teacher III of GAMU AGRI-FISHERY SCHOOL.
HASLIE: I believe that everyone is really fired up. At this juncture, may I call
on the SCHOOL SPORTS COORDINATORS for the Presentation of
Delegates/Participants.
BERNADETTE: Thank you, dear School Sports Coordinators! And for the
Lighting of the Friendship Cauldron, may I call on the following athletes JM
ANDEN (Palarong Pambansa Player-of GAMU RURAL SCHOOL ANNEX),
ERICKSON MACAPULAY (CaVRAA Player – Wushu GAMU AGRI-FISHERY
SCHOOL), LEMUEL DOMINGO, (Provincial Player -Athletics MABINI
NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL), and CLODIN KEITH MIRANDA ( Player – ISABELA
SPORTS SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL). The Cauldron is a symbol of harmony and
goodwill which represent the ideals of Olympic Games. Lighting the Cauldron
serves as a symbol of concern and generosity of the people of such
community.
HASLIE: Thank you, our dear athletes! For the Oath of
Sportsmanship/Amateurism, May I now call on JM ANDEN, a Palarong
Pambansa Player-of GAMU RURAL SCHOOL ANNEX.
BERNADETTE: Thank you, JM! Moving on, for the Oath of Officiating Official,
may I give the floor to Sir DARWIN M. TAGAROMA, TEACHER III, GAMU
AGRI-FISHERY SCHOOL.
HASLIE: Thank you, Sir Darwin! And now, let us witness this symbolic
moment, as each flag soars high, representing the unity and strength of each
team in this pursuit of excellence and sports!
BERNADETTE: Let us have the hoisting of the banners, may I call on the
different School Heads, SSC, Team Captain, Muses and Escorts.
