7. A prison warden on a watch tower sees a bridge 120 M away on a bearing of 230° and a
bus station 80 M away on a bearing of 090°. Using a scale of 1cm to represent 20m, draw
a scale diagram to represent the information given. (2 marks)

Use the scale diagram to find the bearing of the bridge from the bus stop. (2 marks)

8. Find the equation of a line whose x-intercept is -3 and y-intercept is 6 in the form
y=mx+c (2 marks)

9. Given that tan Ө=2.4 and without using mathematical tables or a calculator find

17. The diagram below represents a solid that has a conical part and a hemispherical part.
The radii of both parts is 5 cm and the slanting height of the conical part is 13 cm.
Use π=3.142

(a) Find the surface area of the solid to 2 decimal places. (3 marks)

(b) Calculate the volume of the solid to 2 decimal places. (4 marks)

(c) Given that the solid is made of material of density 2500 kg/m3, determine the mass of
the solid in grams to the nearest gram. (3 marks)

18. Peter wants to make a grass lawn outside his house. He also wants to make a path of
uniform width all round the lawn. The path will be covered with square concrete slabs.
(a) If the total area of the lawn and the path is to be 486m2 but the lawn alone should be
30m long and 12.6m wide, find the width of the path. (4 marks)

(b) He intends to cover each corner of the path by a slab whose side is equal to the width
of the path. The other slabs will be of side 60 cm. Determine the total number of slabs
that she will use. (3 marks)

(c) He has identified a supplier of the slabs who will sell to him each corner slab at Sh.
350 and the other slabs Sh. 100 each. Find the total amount of money he will spend in
buying the slabs. (3 marks)

19. (a) On the grid below, draw a triangle whose vertices are A(4,0), B(5,3) and C(2,2). (1

(b)Triangle ABC undergoes an enlargement of scale factor 2 about (3,4). On the same
grid in (a) above, draw triangle A’B’C’, the image of triangle ABC after the
enlargement. State the coordinates of A’B’C’ (3 marks)

(c)Triangle A”B”C” is the image of triangle A’B’C’ after a negative quarter turn
about the origin. Draw triangle A”B”C” and state its coordinates. (3 marks)
