BLENDER BASIC TOOLS
AND SHORCUTS
BASIC TOOLS IN EDIT MODE
SHORCUT KEY DESCRIPTION
Allows you to move an object or selection of vertices, edges, or faces along a
Grab 23 specified axis or plane. When using the Grab tool, you can constrain movement to a
specific axis by pressing the corresponding key (X, Y, or Z) after activating the tool.
Allows you to rotate an object or selection of vertices, edges, or faces around a
Rotate 23 specified axis. When using the Rotate tool, you can constrain rotation to a specific axis
by pressing the corresponding key (X, Y, or Z) after activating the tool.
Allows you to resize an object or selection of vertices, edges, or faces along a
Scale 23 specified axis or plane. When using the Scale tool, you can constrain scaling to a
specific axis by pressing the corresponding key (X, Y, or Z) after activating the tool.
Allows you to create a new face or set of faces by duplicating an existing selection of
Extrude 23 vertices, edges, or faces and moving the duplicate along a specified axis or plane.
Allows you to create a new face or set of faces that are inset from an existing
Inset 23 selection of vertices, edges, or faces.
Allows you to create a new loop of vertices along an existing edge loop. When using
the Loop Cut tool, you can slide the new loop along the existing loop by dragging the
Loop Cut 1211 mouse or constrain the position of the new loop to a specific distance from the existing
loop by entering a value.
Allows you to create a beveled edge between two existing edges or faces. When
Bevel 23 using the Bevel tool, you can control the width and number of segments in the bevel
by adjusting the tool settings.
GIZMO AND HOW TO
USE IT
GIZMO
The gizmo in Blender is a tool that allows you to manipulate
and view 3D models in a variety of ways. It consists of three
axes (X, Y, and Z) that intersect at a central point, known as
the origin. The axes are represented by colored lines, with
red indicating the X-axis, green indicating the Y-axis, and
blue indicating the Z-axis.
The gizmo can be used to perform a variety of actions on
3D models, including translation, rotation, and scaling. To
use the gizmo, simply select the object you wish to
manipulate, then click and drag one of the colored lines to
move the object along that axis. Clicking and dragging
one of the colored circles will rotate the object around that
axis, while clicking and dragging one of the boxes will scale
the object along that axis.
The gizmo is a powerful tool that allows you to view and
manipulate 3D models in real-time, making it an essential
part of the Blender workflow. With a little practice, you'll be
able to use the gizmo to create complex and beautiful 3D
scenes with ease.
PERSPECTIVE AND
ORTHOGRAPHIC VIEWS
DEFINITION AND PURPOSE OF PERSPECTIVE AND
ORTHOGRAPHIC VIEWS
In Blender, there are two primary types of views: perspective and
orthographic. Each view has its own unique benefits and uses,
depending on the type of project you are working on.

Perspective View is the default view in Blender and is used to create

realistic 3D scenes. In this view, objects are rendered with depth and
perspective, making them appear more natural and lifelike. The
perspective view is ideal for creating scenes that simulate the way the
human eye sees the world.

Orthographic View is a flat view that does not have any depth or
perspective. It is often used for technical drawings, where accuracy is
more important than realism. In this view, objects appear to be flat
and two-dimensional, which can be helpful when creating objects
that require precise measurements and dimensions.
HOW TO TOGGLE BETWEEN PERSPECTIVE AND
ORTHOGRAPHIC VIEWS

To switch between the two views in Blender, simply

press "5" on your numpad to toggle between
perspective and orthographic views.

In conclusion, both perspective and orthographic views

are essential in Blender, depending on the type of
project you are working on. Use perspective view to
create realistic 3D scenes and orthographic view for
technical drawings that require precision and
accuracy.
