WINDOW XP: Detailed install instructions


(Level 3 instructions)
These instructions are written from the perspective of someone who has very minimal computer skills. It is a detailed
step by step process in screenshot format using Firefox web browser. Other browsers will have slightly different formats
but the steps are the same. Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft therefore it requires a much more manual
process to setup compared to Windows 7 and Windows 8. Before beginning have the person who has the admin
password for the computer or network with you when setting up the file. You may need it depending on the security
rules of the customer’s network. Do not ignore any security pop ups. Read and understand what they are
requesting. Not to do so may prevent the CPM from running.

Step 1: If you have already created the


project at your
Log into your CW Print Panel/Dashboard and are
Manager panel already at the email you sent
the project to, start at page 2
step 6 of this document.

Step 2: Click on “Create Project”

Step 3:
A) Name the project that will make it
easy for you to identify the
customer in your Panel.
B) The email address to where you
want the project sent. To yourself,
an associate or end customer.
C) Click on “Create Project”
This project is unique. Do not use it in
any other customer then for the one you
have created it for.

Step 4:
This “Congratulation” notice
should appear after
submission for project
creation

Step 5:
Now go to your email and
open.

Step 6:
Open email and reduce the size
of the window in which it
appears on your computer but
do not minimize.

Step 7:
Before Downloading CPM you
need to create a folder.
Go to “My Computer

Click on “Local Disk (C:)”

Step 9:
Click on “Make a new folder”

Step 10:
Name the folder. Absolutely
NO spaces are to be in the title
of this folder. Example;
CPMPizzabobs
Once names click on it to open

Step 11:
Once open reduce the size of the
window. Do not minimize it. Have
it appear similar to this on your
desktop screen. You will note the
folders name in the address
window

Step 12:
If you have WinRar already
installed on this computer you
can move to “Step 13” below.
If is not, click on WinRar
download. If you feel you
need instructions on the
steps to download WinRar
go to page 22, step 1B.

Setting up the CPM on the computer


Step 13:
Go to email and click on
“Download CPM”

Step 14:
Choose “Save File” and click
“OK”

Step 15:
Go to Download arrow and
click on it. CPM 2.4 will drop
down.

NOTE: With other browsers


you may not have a download
button and may need to go to
the download folder or tab
and open it to find the CPM
file. Move file to the folder
you created in your “C” drive.

Step 16:
Click on the CPM 2.4 file and
hold, drag and drop into the
folder you have created and
left open in your “C” drive.

Step 17:
Now your CPM zip file is in
your folder.
Now double click on the file

Double Click on CPM 2.6

Click on “Extract To”

Now close window and go to
the CPM folder you created
in your “C” drive.

should be open on your
desktop.

If this Security Warning pops up, go to
page 18, step A1 for further
instructions.
Depending upon the Security software in
place you may have a slightly different
process and different pop ups windows.
Do not ignore them.
If no Security Warning “pop up” appears at all
move to step 25 below

Click on “Start”

Guide to create an automatic task (scheduled) to


automatically execute CPMonitor - Microsoft Windows XP
version.
CPM (Cloud Printing Monitor) is a software program designed by NubePrint to monitor all types
of printing devices plugged connected to a LAN. You can download this file for free by registering
into MyPrinterCloud service (http://myprintercloud.endofinternet.net/).

It is convenient to schedule an automatic execution of CPM, so that the recurrent tasks are
executed with no manual intervention from the user.

Following are a set of instructions on how to schedule the execution of CPM.

1) Control Panel

Access «Control Panel» and select «Scheduled Tasks».

Your view of the Control Panel window may be presented in an unfamiliar format. Below you
will find three formats in which it can be presented.

Control Panel view 1: This window may appear as an icon or list format.
Select “Scheduled Tasks”

Or

OR the Control Panel may appear in this manner. Two step process to open the “Scheduled
tasks”
Select “Performance & Then Select “Scheduled
maintenance” Tasks”

Then

1.Program tasks

Once you are in «Program Tasks» please select «Add Scheduled Task», and then follow the
instructions on the «Scheduled Task Wizard»

Step 1:
Select “Add Scheduled
Task”

Step 2:
Select “Next”

Click the program you want Windows to run: press «Browse», and Access the path
where you’re program «silent» has been saved. Once selected,

Click on the drop down button
then click on

“Local Disk (C)”

Then find and click on CPM 2.4

If you located the file in a


different location then navigate
there. We recommend keeping
the CPM folder in the C drive.

Step 4:
Choose “Silent”

Select «Daily»and then press «Next»

Step 5:
“silent” will appear

Step 6:
Select “Daily”

Step 7:
Select “Next”

Select the «Start Time» (for example 8h00) and click on «Every Day». Then click on
«Next».

Step 8:
Have start time set for
when the office opens

Step 9:
Select “Every Day”

Step 10:
Use today’s date

Step 11:
Select “Next”

Enter «User name» or leave it as it is and enter your system password (the one the customer
uses to log into their PC or server. Then click on «Next».

Step 12:
This is where you will need
admin password.

Once filled in select “Next”

CHECK MARK the square to
open “advanced
properties”

Select “Finish”

If the wrong password was entered this


window will pop up after you click on “Finish”
Have the owner try standard defaults
passwords. Many times a password has never
been set up. Go to “Control Panel” to “User
Accounts” and create one. Use a PW that is
easy to remember. Admin, Owner etc..
Click on «Schedule» and define the parameters so that the system reads up to 10 times
a day (your MPS provider system will accept a maximum of 10 transmissions per day; the
optimum figure is found at 6-8 times a day).

Select “Schedule”

Then select “Advanced”

Check the box “Repeat task” Input 2

Make sure it’s in hours

Mark “Duration”

Step 21:
Put in how many hours the
business is typically open.

Step 22:
Finally select “OK”

Once back in the main
“Schedule” tab window
select “Apply”

Now go to <<Settings>> tab

Step 24:
Now select the “Settings”
tab

Step 25:
UNCHECK THIS BOX.

If not unchecked CPM will


stop after 3 days.

Step 26:
Select “Apply”
Then “OK”

These settings mean that your system will verify and send the status of each printer every 2
hours starting from 8:00 and finishing at 20:00 (therefore the reading will take place at 8:00,
10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00, 18:00 and 20 hours.

1. Verification
Once the process has been completed, you can verify that your task has been creating by
opening again your «Scheduled Tasks» from the «Control Panel» menu. Your new task
should then be listed.

If this Security Warning pops up, or a similar


security warning, uncheck the box and then
click on “Run”

A “Birdy” window will appear. Do not click on
start at this point.
