Since the rst computer scientist started questioning whether machines can think

like human beings, scientists have never stopped exploring the mystery of AI for

decades. Today, research on AI has achieved tremendous outcomes. Through

deep learning, a self-learning process, AI is able to generate vivid and fascinating

stories and videos simply by receiving prompts from humans. ChatGPT, Sora,

and other self-learning AI systems are even able to replace humans in intelligent

jobs. Thus, as AI develops quickly, more risks and anxieties are introduced by

computers and robots. It is important to consider if intellectual jobs may

eventually be entirely supplanted by robots.

Under the current trend, more and more industries bene t from AI, including

healthcare, entertainment, real estate, and tourism, etc. What advantages does AI

bring to them? Improving service consistency, boosting ef ciency with automation,

and exploring new goods and services opportunities. Obviously, these are the

motivations driving the tech giants to accelerate the advancement of AI. On the

other hand, AI increases the income gap and results in job losses for certain

middle-class individuals. What kinds of reactions should people have to overcome

the dif culties caused by AI? While AI does surpass humans in several domains

and play a crucial role in others, humans may still compete with AI in certain areas.

First, people might still be able to do the work more cheaply than robots because

creating AI is expensive. An AI company requires a signi cant amount of funding

and data to maintain its operation and retain intelligent scientists; otherwise, it will

be quickly outdated and suppressed by other competitors. Second, kindness and

empathy in people are crucial parts of intellect. Robots are trained to perform

logical tasks that are supported by data and algorithms. Humanities that are based

on education, culture, and family are dif cult to quantify through deep learning.

Nonetheless, not only should we consider how to compete with AI, but also how to

work along with it.

Indeed, machines can replace some tedious tasks, while its values shouldn’t be

de ned in such a narrow section. Too much emphasis is currently placed on the

notion that robots or algorithms will eventually take the place of humans. Simply

assuming the entirety of AI is automation is a misunderstanding. It is more likely to

liberate people to focus on what really matters and augment humans. For example,

robots can be used in hospitals to facilitate people suffering from leg injuries to walk

and protect people from harm in disaster relief. Though arti cial intelligence has

helped different sectors from various aspects, a great deal of AI’s potential

applications are yet to materialize. Therefore, instead of opposing AI, possibility it is

time to reorient our attention to think how to work alongside with AI in the future.
