Gas Law Experiment

This document outlines a chemistry lab activity for Grade 10 students led by Julia Andrea M. Hachero, focusing on the Kinetic Molecular Theory, Boyle's Law, and Charles' Law. It includes instructions for experiments using syringes, balloons, marshmallows, and temperature variations, along with guide questions for students to answer based on their observations. The document also contains a participation and behavior scoring system for group members.

ACTIVITY 1: KINETIC MOLECULAR THEORY

MATERIALS:
-20cc SYRINGE
-BALLOON

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Balloon inflation: Hold a balloon at the tip of a 20cc syringe. Plunge the syringe.
2. After plunging the syringe, try to pull the plunger of the syringe (while holding the balloon)
3. Observe and illustrate what happens to the balloon in the following conditions:
ILLUSTRATE/ DRAW YOUR OBSERVATION

ACTIVITY 2: BOYLE’S LAW
MATERIALS:
20CC SYRINGE (NO NEEDLE)
MARSHMALLOW
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Put a marshmallow inside the syringe. Use a finger to hold the tip of the syringe and push the plunger.
2. While maintaining the marshmallow inside the syringe, hold the tip of the syringe and pull the plunger.
3. Answer the questions below.

GUIDE QUESTIONS

1. What happened to the size of the marshmallow after pushing the syringe plunger?

2. What happened to the size of the marshmallow after pulling the syringe plunger?

Draw/ Illustrate the two conditions given:
