Reading
You are going to read an email about a teenager’s experience of going to summer camp.
Ten sentences have been removed from the email.
Write the correct letter, A–J, in each space from the options on the next page.

To: Marek
Message: Summer camp

How are you doing, Marek? How’s your family? I want to tell you about my experience at a
summer camp. Before I went on the camp, I was extremely nervous! (21) ………. Well, certainly not
for a whole week.

When I arrived there, I immediately started feeling much better. The activity leaders who worked
at the camp were really nice. (22) ………. Then I met lots of the other kids on the camp before we
started our first activity. I got on really well with one of them in particular, Hans. (23) ……….
We ended up doing most of the activities together, which was great.

For our first activity, we went canoeing at a nearby lake. (24) ………. It was great fun though.
After lunch, we did a mountain bike ride in the hills around the camp. The views from the top
were amazing – the boats in the lake below looked really small. (25) ………. However, all of us
managed to stay on our bikes, so we were very pleased with ourselves.

That evening, we had a campfire. Quite a few people there were good at playing the guitar.
(26) ………. I had a great time singing along to them.

The next few days followed the same routine, with different activities in the morning and afternoon,
then a campfire in the evening. Once, though, we actually went camping overnight up in the hills
nearby. (27) ………. The views when we woke up in the morning were amazing, and we cooked our
breakfast on the campfire.

I think my favourite activity of the whole week was the high ropes. You had to walk around
a circuit in the local forest. The only problem was that it was all 15 metres above the ground!
(28) ………. Some people had to come down though, because they were so frightened.

So all in all, I had a great week. (29) ………. So maybe next time, we can go together –
that’d be great! I hope you have a good time on holiday with your family, Marek. (30) ……….
See you when you get back.

All the best,

Juan
