WELL-WRITTEN TEXT
A written text is a connected discourse when it has unity by
combining all ideas to emphasize the central idea.

A connected discourse is achieved when: 1. Ideas are logically


linked together. 2. Transitions and connections between sentences
and paragraphs are smooth. 3. Language and tone are consistent
throughout. 4. All ideas support and emphasize the central idea or
main claim.
Cohesion and coherence are
properties of a well-written text
that deals with close relationship,
based on grammar or meaning,
between two parts of a sentence or
a larger piece of writing.

Cohesion and coherence is achieved


with the use of linkers or connectors
among clauses or sentences. These
are transitional devices. They are
categorized according to functions.
