below. Please be guided with the same
rubrics.
-Yes Sir!
Material Needed
 Stopwatch
 Ball(e.g. tennis ball, sepak
takraw,etc.)
 Long string

Precautionary Measures
1.Don’t perform experiments without
teacher’s supervision unless given
permission to do.
2.Do not set equipment/materials too
close to the edge of the table.
3.Stay safe when doing the activity.
Students will do the activity.
Procedure
(Follow the worksheet provided to each
group)

Guide Question
1. What is the velocity of the ball just
before it hits the ground?
2. How will you compare the actual
height of the building from the results of
the experiment?
3. What is the percentage error?
EXPLAIN The teacher will further explain the
activity 2.

Example Table

1. What is the velocity of the ball just

before it hits the ground?

Answer: Vfy= Viy + ayt

= (0) + (9.8 m/s2) ( .5s)
=4.9 m/s

2.How will you compare the actual

height of the building from the results
of the experiment?

Answer: The actual height of the building

is 2.8 m or 280 cm but when we get
result of the experiment it changes
depends to the time or how it takes the
ball to reach the ground.

3.What is the percentage error?

Answer:

Actual Value - Experiment Value X 100

Actual Value

= 2.8 x 5.13 x 100

2.8
= - 83.21

Do you have any questions or

clarifications class?

ELABORATE

What is uniformly accelerated motion

specifically vertical dimension?

-Uniformly accelerated motion in the

vertical dimension refers to the motion of
an object where its velocity changes at a
constant rate while moving vertically,
either upward or downward. This type of
motion occurs under the influence of
gravity, where the acceleration due to
gravity (approximately 9.8 meters per
second squared on Earth) remains
constant.

Equations/Formulas in Solving UAM in

vertical dimension

Variables:
Vf- Final Velocity(m/s)
Vi-Initial Velocity(m/s)
a-Acceleration(m/s2)
t-Time(s)
d- Displacement(m)

Example problem

A rock was dropped on top of the

building and hits the ground after 5
seconds. What is the height of the
building ?

Given Formula
t= 5s
Viy= 0m/s dy = Vit + 1/2at 2
ay = 9.8m/s
dy =?

Solution
dy = (0m/s) (5s) + (.5) (-9.8m/s2)(5s)2
dy = (0m/s) (5s) + (.5) (-9.8m/s2)(5s)2
dy =(.5) (-9.8m/s2)(5s)2
dy =(-4.8m/s2)(25s2)
dy = 122. 5 m

What is the importance of studying

uniformly accelerated motion
particularly in the vertical dimension
in sports?
-Studying uniformly accelerated motion
in vertical dimension is important in
sports because it helps athletes
understand jumping and throwing
techniques, improve efficiency, design
better training programs, prevent injuries,
and analyze performance effectively.
This knowledge enhances athletes' skills,
optimizes training regimens, and reduces
the risk of injuries, ultimately
contributing to improved performance in
sports.

EVALUATE Get ¼ sheet of paper. Answer the

following question by reading first the
