Then, the number of 2-digit numbers formed from the given set without repetition is

(5 - 2)!
The numbers formed by repetition are {11, 22, 33, 44, 55}
∴ The number of 2-digit numbers formed from the given set with repetition
= 5P2 + 5 = 20 +5 = 25
Therefore number of ways these two boys Shiv and Anil sit together is 6! 2! = 1440
Therefore number of ways Shiv and Anil not to sit together = 5040 – 1440 = 3600
