ASSURE Model Learning Strategy

The ASSURE Model is an instructional design strategy created by Heinrich and Molenda in 1999, aimed at enhancing learning through the integration of technology and multimedia. It consists of six components: Analyze Learners, State Objectives, Select Methods, Media, and Materials, Utilize Methods, and Evaluate and Revise. The model emphasizes active learner participation and continuous evaluation of teaching effectiveness to improve lesson outcomes.

A presentation on the ASSURE Model learning

strategy.

To understand the concept
of ASSURE model learning
strategy.

Objectives To identify the components

To evaluate Lesson Plan

using the ASSURE Model
Strategy.
What is the ASSURE
model?
How does it enhance learning strategies?
ASSURE
Instructional Heinrich and Molenda created the
Design Model ASSURE model in 1999.

It is a well-known Instructional
Design guide incorporating
multimedia and technology to
improve the learning environment
from a constructivist perspective.
BACKGROUND
OF
The ASSURE Model is an
ASSURE MODEL instructional system or guidelines
that teachers can use to develop
lesson plans which integrate the
use of technology and media
(Smaldino, Lowther & Russell,
2008).
The Model’s
6 Components
A nalyze
The first step in planning is to Learners
specifically define your audience.
The analysis of your
learners should include: A nalyze
Learners
❑ The general attributes
of your learners
❑Prior competencies
❑Learning styles
s tate What do you want
Objectives
your students to
know by the end of
the lesson?
s tate Objectives are the
learning outcomes
Objectives
The stated objective is the statement
that describes what the learners will be
able to accomplish as a result of the
lesson.
s tate Determine the
Objectives objectives
The objectives of your lesson should
ne as detailed as possible so that the
learner knows exactly what they’re
supposed to do.
s tate ABCD Parts
Audience – For whom is the objective
Objectives intended?
Behavior – What is the behavior or
performance to be demonstrated?
Conditions – What are the conditions
under which the behavior or
performance will be observed?
Degree – To what degree will the
knowledge or skill be mastered?
sMethods,
elect
Given what your learning objectives
are, it’s necessary to pick Media and Materials,
instructional strategies, technology,
and media that will bring about the
results that you want.

First, we should figure out what which

delivery method will be best for your
instruction.
Teaching Methods sMethods,

Refer to the general principles, Media and Materials,

pedagogy and management strategies
used for classroom instruction.

The Teaching Method can be:

❑ Teacher-centered learning
❑ Student-centered learning
Media sMethods,

Media can be applied in direct Media and Materials,

instruction, active learning teaching
strategies and student projects.

Media is divided into two types:

Materials sMethods,

Material can be defined as learning Media and Materials,

tools to assist and improve the
effectiveness of the lesson.

Materials exists in various forms such

as:
Utilize Methods,
This step in the ASSURE
process concerns making a plan
as to how you will utilize the
technology, media, and
Media and Materials materials that you have
selected.

As with all of the instructional

steps, you must make sure that
your plans contribute towards
producing the objectives that
you have laid down.

This includes an evaluation

of your teaching strategies
and the technology, media,
and materials that you
used.
EValuate and The following questions are
useful to ask during this
evaluation:
Revise
Did your lesson meet the learning
objectives that you planned? How will
you determine whether the students
reach the objectives? Is your way of
assessing the students in line with
your learning objectives?
EValuate and The following questions are
useful to ask during this
evaluation:
Revise
Can this lesson be improved? How?
How are you going to assess the
weaknesses in your presentation?
EValuate and The following questions are

Revise
Was your choice of media and
materials a good one? How will you
assess the effectiveness of these
tools?

Revise
Is it possible that other technologies,
media, and materials would have done
a better job?
End of Presentation
Thank you for Listening.
