Arguments For Small World in Dragonmaid

The document discusses the inclusion of the card Small World in Dragonmaid decks, arguing for its utility as a versatile searcher that can help navigate handtraps and extend plays. It contrasts Small World with other options like Foolish Burial and Dragon Shrine, emphasizing its ability to facilitate combos while addressing the limitations of Lady's Contact fusion effect. The author provides various lines of play and potential tech choices to optimize the deck's performance against interruptions.

Small World in Dragonmaid

While I will be using a OCG list as a example (yes that means Maxx C is legal) I also have a TCG list
as well.

Why should you run it?

While the meme with small world is that its a bit redundant in certain decks I propose that we should
reconsider it in Dragonmaid due to how Lady’s Contact fusion effect limits our options in terms how to
extend (should you choose to go that route) and in our case the decks I’ve been building hover around
the 40 to 45 range so I prefer to run Small World instead of 3 handtraps or 3 other extenders that you
might consider

General Utility
Small world has the added utility of being a generic searcher for well. Almost anything in your deck, it
turns redundant normal summons into a extender or a handtrap, turns handtraps into extenders or
starters etc. And while I’d like to say its great there are others as well.

Depending on your playstyle with this deck and ESPECIALLY your prefered seals targets/gameplan
Dragonmaid wants to slow the game down to a grind game but to do that you need to get your combo
off, While the new support means Kitchen,Parlor and Chamber are all one card starters into Hieratic
Seals+Dragonmaid Sheou that also means that we have to be able to play through handtraps. While I
believe Dragonmaid can play through atleast 1 effectively you have to make a choice when
deckbuilding for your prefered endboard when you DO get hit with one (Like Imperm+Ash will get
you) and thats go for full Lady’s Dragonmaid combo or End on Hieratic seals

While I want to cover mostly Lady’s Full combo lines theres an argument to be made for playing the
deck in such a way to be able to pivot into Hieratic seals and only hieratic seals when the going gets
tough.

Some tech choices Ive considered when deck building for JUST hieratic seals lines in the event of a
interuption are Nocto Vision Dragon and Red Eyes Darkness Metal and lastly Light End Sublimation
and Dark End Evaporation while I think nocto has promise as you can play through handtraps by just
doing nothing thats not the point of why were talking about small world right now.

“If were building to be able to end on lady then whats the other options?”
I found about 4 ways to do that, one of them is really jank and requires rebuilding the deck to prioritize
opening kitchen and opening tinkhec using Sangen Kaimen. The others are much less crazy but the
main factor is that they all can’t start combos so they have a bit less utility, These being, Foolish Burial,
Dragon Shrine, and Dragon Ravine. Foolish Burial and Shrine do the same thing but I urge you not to
do Ravine as it requires a discard.

“So why run small world instead of those”

As I said before they cannot start combos and dragonravine even more so. I’d like to consider small
world as less like the janky card that it normally is and instead think of it as a archetypal “Discard one
monster to search a dragonmaid starter/extender” with of course the added utility of well being small
world. And the only con, in my eyes is that we have to discard “But Red small world dies to ash” So
does Hospitality, Foolish Burial, and Dragonshrine, the only extender that cant is drawing the
accompanying dragonform. In fact Small world dying to ash means your opponent MUST respect it
and MUST stop it.

“Okay but where are the small world lines?”

Gotcha here are the one I’ve found (reminders that there may be redundant ones just remember all of
these can be reverse)

Dragonmaid Chamber
>Ghost Ogre>Any Parlor or Kitchen
>Tinkhec Or Lorpar or Light End> Berchem
>Ash Blossom>Tinkhec
Should you run ernus the only blind spot is you cannot search Lorpar though I also know of somebody
using Link Belt as it is a lv 6, 0atk, 2100 def earth dragon that can extend into seals if you hard draw it
but thats going into Noctovision territory.
>Mourner(if you run it)>Lorpar
>Fuwalos(If you own one)> Lorpar or Parlor

Dragonmaid Parlor
>Light End>Berchem
>Ogre>Chamber or Kitchen
>Ash>Tinkhec or Veiler
>Magnumut>Light end or Lorpar or Tinkhec
>Light end>Ogre or Veiler

Dragonmaid Kitchen
>Magnumut>Lorpar or Tinkhec
>Light End>Ogre or Veiler
>Light End>Berchem

Dragonmaid Lorpar
>Nurse>Tinkhec, Magnumut, Berchem
>Kitchen>Magnumut, Light or Dark End or Berchem
>Magnumut>Light end or dragonform

Dragonmaid Berchem

Dragonmaid Tinkhec
Dragonmaid Nurse
Bystial Magnumut
Effect Veiler
>Light End>Berchem or Magnumut or a starter
>Ash>Tinkhec or a Starter Dmaid except Chamber

Ghost Ogre
Ash Blossom
Light End Sublimation Dragon
Dark End Evaporation Dragon
