INTRODUCTION

The advent of advanced technology

has revolutionized the design and
manufacturing processes across
various industries. In this context,
the integration of 3D Computer-
Aided Design (CAD) has significantly
impacted the creation of innovative
products. This project report
explores the development of a lamp
through the intricate realm of 3D
CAD modelling.

By leveraging the power of digital

design, this endeavour aims to
showcase the intersection of
creativity and precision in
crafting a contemporary and
aesthetically pleasing lighting
solution.
OBJECTIVE

The primary objective of this project report is to comprehensively

document the design and development process of a lamp using 3D
CAD modelling techniques. This includes detailing the
conceptualization phase, the application of 3D modelling tools, the
iterative design process, and the finalization of the lamp’s digital
prototype.

Additionally, the report aims to

analyse the advantages and
challenges encountered during
the 3D CAD modelling, providing
insights into the feasibility,
functionality, and aesthetic
considerations that influenced
the lamp’s design. Through this
documentation, the objective is
to present a thorough
understanding of the project’s

scope, methodology, and outcomes, offering valuable insights for

future endeavours in 3D CAD modelling for product design.
Construction

1. Head :-

➢ Using Line option from the

sketch draw the figure of head
and smart dimension it as shown
in figure.

➢ Go to Features and select

Revolve Boss/Base and select
the center axis along which it is
to be revolved.

➢ Select top plane and draw a

circle of radius 37mm at top of
the head.

➢ Select extrude cut from features

and select inner area of the
circle. select through all both in
direction 1 and ok it.

➢ Go to appearance, then select

plastic option and then select
blue knurled plastic.
Construction

2. Base :-
➢ Draw the 2D diagram of the base from
sketch tools as shown in the figure.

➢ From features select Revolve

boss/base and revolve the sketch
along center axis.

➢ Select top plane and go to top of base

(3.63 mm above bottom of base, if not
then shift the plane from reference
geometry in Features) and draw a
circle on it of radius 10mm.

➢ Select extrude cut from features, then

select blind (downward). Now put
4mm depth and check the flip the side
to cut. Click on ok.

➢ Select top plane and go to bottom of

base. Now draw a circle of 4mm
radius.

➢ Select extrude cut from features, then

select through all both and click ok.\

➢ Put fillets of different radius on

desired edges and corners.

➢ Select front plane and draw a circle of

radius of 3mm as shown on figure.
➢ Now from features select extrude cut ,
then select blind and put 60mm depth
and click ok
Construction

3. Vase :-

Part 1 =>
Step 1- We will construct a centerline of
150mm.
Step 2- From the bottom we will construct a
line of 40mm towards right.
Step 3- From the end of the 40mm line
construct an arc of radius 210mm upwards
and inwards.
Step 4- Make another arc of radius 30mm
upwards and outwards from the upper end of
last arc.
Step 5- Then revolve the last sketch 360*
degree.

Part 2 =>
Step 1- Create a reference plane at the
bottom of the vase type structure.
Step 2- Create a circle of radius 20mm from
the center.
Step 3- Extrude cut the circle to make a hole
in bottom. The hole is made to fit the upper
bulged part of the base inside the vase.
Part 3 =>
Step 1- Use fillet to give a 10mm curve on
the top of the vase.
Step 2- Give the vase high gloss plastic
appearance and color it as your desire here
we have given dark grey color.
Construction

4. Bulb :-

➢ Draw the diagram of bulb from

sketch tools as shown in the
figure.

➢ From features select revolve

boss/base and revolve the sketch
around the center axis

➢ From appearance apply white high

gloss plastic to top and dark grey
high gloss plastic to rest of the
parts as shown in figure.

➢Apply fillet from features of 5mm

and 4mm as shown in figure.

➢Select right plane and draw a

circle of radius of 2.5mm and
38mm below the origin as shown
in figure.

➢ From features select extrude boss

and check both direction 1 and
direction 2. Now put depth 13mm
in both direction and click on ok.
Construction

5. Nut :-

➢ Part 1 =>
Step 1- Construct a circle of radius
5 mm and draw 5 tangents on top
plane in order to make a pentagon,
then delete the circle.
Step 2- Extrude the shape in blind
backwards 5 mm.
➢ Part 2 =>
Step 1- Construct the same circle
of radius 5 mm between the
tangents on top plane.
Step 2- Extrude-cut 1 mm and
give the cutting angle of 60*
degree but flip the side to cut.
Step 3- Create a reference plane
at the bottom of nut and repeat
the 2nd step.
Part 3 =>Step 1- Construct the
circle in the middle again of
radius 2.5mm again on top plane.
Step 2- Extrude-cut the circle
through all to make a hole.
Step 3- Chamfer the inner circle
of the nut with dimension 0.5 mm
at 45* degree to give the curves of
a real nut.
Step 4- Give the nut appearance
of brushed brass from outside and
screw thread from inside.
Construction

6. Head Stand:-
➢ Part 1 =>
• Step 1- Construct a centerline of 66 mm
from origin upwards direction on front
plane.
• Step 2- From the bottom of the
centerline construct a line of 30 mm
towards left.
• Step 3- From the left end of the last
constructed line make another line of 55
mm in upward direction.
• Step 4- Now, from the upper end of the
last constructed line make a line of 15
mm at an outer angle of 224.08* degree.
• Step 5- Mirror the constructed structure
on the right side using mirror entities.
And delete the centerline.
• Step 6- Use offset entities function to
make a same smaller structure inside
the structure and keep the thickness
13mm and close the ends with choosing
the line close option in offset.
• Step 7- Extrude the figure in mid-plane
by 13 mm.

➢ Part 2 =>
• Step 1- Construct a circle at
origin of radius 4 mm on top
plane.
• Step 2- Extrude-cut the circle
through all to make a hole which
will let the rod on base pass
through it.
➢ Part 3 =>
• Step 1- Create a reference plane 70
mm away from the top plane.
• Step 2- Construct a circle of
diameter 74 mm from the origin on
the plane created.
• Step 3- Extrude the circle in blind
towards the another figure by 5
mm.

➢ Part 4 =>
• Step 1- On the created plane
construct another of diameter of 70
mm from origin.
• Step 2- Extrude-cut this circle
downwards in blind by 5 mm.

➢ Part 5 =>
• Step 1- Construct two circles on
top plane of diameter 5 mm such
that both are 38 mm far from each
other and 19 mm away from
origin.
• Step 2- Extrude-cut both the
circles by through all-both.

➢ Part 6 =>
• Step 1- Using fillet curve both the
sides of radius 10 mm of the figure
constructed in part 1.
Construction

7. Bolt :-

➢ Draw the sketch of bolt using sketch

tools as shown in figure.
➢ In features select the extruded base
option and extrude the sketch blindly
upward to about 7mm.
➢ Draw a circle of radius 2.5mm on top
of the solid . Extrude-cut 1 mm and
give the cutting angle of 60* degree
but flip the side to cut.
➢ Select top plane and draw a circle of
radius of 2.4mm and extrude it 16
mm blindly downward.
➢ Add chamfer of o.5mm and 45
degrees to bottom edge.
➢ In front plane draw a line of as shown
in figure and add split lines to it.
➢ From appearance add brushed brass
and screw thread as shown in figure.
