Question No. 1

a) In the circuit of Figure 1.a, find the power absorbed by each of the five
elements in the circuit and prove that the total power delivered is equal to the
total power absorbed. [10 marks]

b) For the circuit of Figure 1.b, compute the voltage across each current source
using node analysis. [10 marks]

Question No. 2

a) Find out the current through the 11 ohm resistance of the network shown in
Figure 2.a by mesh analysis. [10 Marks]

Choose a load resistance to be connected at the terminal a-b so that maximum power will
transfer to it from the network shown in Figure 4 and also calculate the maximum power
absorbed by the load.

The switch S1 of Figure 5 has been closed for a long time. At t=0sec, S1 is opened, at
the same instance S2 is closed.
a) Find the initial current through the coil
b) Find the mathematical expression for the current (iL) through the inductor and
corresponding voltage (vL) following the closing of the switch S2.
c) Sketch the waveform for iL and vL.

For the network of Figure 6,


a) find the mathematical expression of vc and ic following the closing of the switch
at t=0 sec.
b) find the mathematical expression of vc and ic if the switch is thrown into position

c) sketch the waveforms of part (a) and (b) on the same time axis.

Find the magnetic flux established in the magnetic circuit shown in Figure 7. Error up to
±5% is acceptable. The core is made of cast steel. The parameters for the core are given
below:
