Purpose

This instruction manual is designed to provide a comprehensive description of the software's


functions and operating environment, so that users can understand the scope and method of its
application. This manual also contains information necessary for performing software maintenance
and updates.

End User License Agreement

This End-User License Agreement ("Agreement") is a legal agreement between you (either a
natural person, a legal person or a single entity) and Beijing LargeV Instrument Corp., Ltd. ("LargeV
Instrument"), the copyright owner of the software for the Dental X-ray Tomographic System. Please
be sure to read this Agreement before using the software product because all software programs,
electronic documents, etc. related hereto are licensed for you to use in accordance with the terms
hereof and this Agreement also applies to any later releases and upgrades related to the software
product. By installing, copying, downloading, accessing or using the Software via other means, you
agree to be bound by the terms of this Agreement which has the effectiveness equivalent to that of
any negotiated written agreement signed by you. If you do not agree to the terms of this Agreement,
please be sure not to use the software product and keep it and the components thereof in their original
state.
The software product and any copies thereof made by you according to the licensing terms
herein are products of LargeV instrument who holds the intellectual property rights thereof. The
structure, form and code of the software product shall be deemed as valuable commercial secrets
and confidential information of LargeV instrument. This software is protected by the Copyright Law
of the People's Republic of China, relevant international treaties and laws applicable in the country
where the software is used. You may not copy or use this software in areas outside the scope

specified herein, otherwise it will constitute an infringement of the intellectual property rights of
LargeV instrument. You shall also agree that, other than legal decompilation expressly authorized
by LargeV instrument, you will not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble the software or make
other attempts to discover the source code thereof. Any information related to the software that is
obtained by you through LargeV instrument or other means shall be used by you only for the
purposes specified herein, and such information shall not be disclosed to any third party or used to
create any software that is basically similar in style to the software product. The software product
shall not be used for other commercial purposes without authorization from LargeV instrument. And
the authorization hereunder does not represent that LargeV instrument transfers to you any of its
intellectual property rights.
If you fail to comply with any of the provisions hereof, LargeV instrument has the right to
terminate your license to use the software at any time and you shall destroy or return the original
documents of the software and all copies thereof to LargeV instrument immediately after the license
termination. LargeV instrument reserves the right to modify any terms of this Agreement at any time
and LargeV instrument will notify the user of such changes through appropriate methods. If you do
not agree to any change made by LargeV instrument to this Agreement, you have the right to stop
using the software, and continuing to use the software means that you have accepted the said change.
Using the software product means that you have reviewed, understood and accepted the terms
hereunder.

Overview

Software features

This software is bundled with the Dental X-ray Tomographic System and should be used in
combination with the System for panoramic radiography, skull imaging and CBCT data processing.
This software is recommended for use by radiologists and other medical staff in related fields.
This software should be used by specially trained medical professionals such as radiologists,
clinicians, medical technicians and hospital system administrators.

Software operation

This software should be installed on PCs and other compatible machines running Windows 7
or newer operating systems. After the installation is completed, click the corresponding icon directly
and the main interface of the software will pop up, in which you can perform various operations.
An encryption key or permission is required for using this software.
When a port error occurs, a prompt dialog box will pop up to inform the user about the error,
in which case the software will remain operational without freezing;
When a logic error occurs in the program itself, a prompt dialog box will pop up to inform the
user about the error, in which case the software will remain operational without freezing;
If any error occurs due to system problem or network resource availability, a prompt dialog
box will pop up to inform the user about the error, in which case the software will remain operational
without freezing;
After a software exception occurs, all relevant information and intermediate data will be stored
in the log. The software supports revert to initial state, making it convenient for the user to restart
the operation process after an exception occurs.

Software structure

This software contains four function modules, namely the scan control interface, the patient
data management module, the image processing module and the report module.

System requirements

Running this software requires a PC or other compatible machine running Windows 7 or any
newer operating system, and the operating environment with runtime library of VC2010, 2015
and .net framework version 4.5 and above.
Workstations apply factory standard configurations that cannot be changed. If the replacement

of any parts is required due to damage or other reasons, please contact our after-sales department to
confirm the specific model. Computer configuration for workstation is as follows:

Interface Description

Installation interface

Double-click the SmartVPro installation package, an installation interface (Figure 3-1) will
pop up.

Click [OK] and then follow the instructions to complete the installation step by step.

Startup interface

Double-click the desktop icon or enable the software from the [Start menu], as

shown in Figure 3-2.

Starting the SmartVPro software will bring out the login screen as shown in Figure 3-3.

Input your user name and password to enter the main interface.

There are 4 function pages available in the interface: [Patient], [2D], [CT], [Report].
[Patient] page contains functions such as: searching for patients, creating new patient,
importing local data, RIS \ PACS (for obtaining network data), patient details, scan, disk burning.
[2D] page contains: panoramic images, cranial images and other 2D images obtained through
scanning and corresponding toolbars.
[CT] page contains: MPR, panorama view, dental implant and TMJ pages.
[Report] page contains features such as: viewing, editing, printing, report sharing, etc.

Patient data management
In the [Patient] management page as shown in Figure 4-1,

you can view or search for patient data, create and delete patient profiles, or initiate a scanning
procedure for a specific patient.
Scan: Click [Scan] on the right of patient details, the program will automatically start the
scanning process. After the scanning process is completed and corresponding page is closed, the
software will automatically examine the scanning data just obtained and add them to the database.
These data will be displayed on the page as shown in Figure 4-2.

View images and reports: Double-click items in the patient list or corresponding images and

reports on the page to display relevant information.
Edit patient profile: Click [Edit] below [scan] to bring out the "Edit Patient" interface in which
you can enter the patient's name, gender, date of birth, phone number, etc. or add a photo after
clicking on the corresponding area.
Add note to an image: Right-click on the thumbnail image to add note information to the
corresponding image.
Right-click menu (patient profile): After selecting a patient in the patient list, right-click the
item to bring out a menu that includes Import Dental Model, Export Patient Profile and Delete, as
shown in Figure 4-3.

[Import Dental Model] Import the patient's STL or OBJ data.


[Export Patient Profile] Export all images related to the patient.
[Delete] Delete the patient profile and all data in it.
Tool buttons: There is a row of tool buttons below the thumbnail image of a patient, specific
items of which are as follows:
[Export Data] Export the current patient's image data to another folder in the computer or any
external disk (such as U disk).
[Burn Image] Burn a disk image that contains the current patient's image data.
[Export Data] Export the current patient's image data to another folder in the computer or any
external disk (such as U disk).
[Upload Data] Upload the image data to the PACS server or other cloud storage server.
[Image Information] Information related to the currently selected image, including storage path
and image size.
[Offline Rebuild] Rebuilt the current image in an offline environment.
[Move Patient] Move the image under the name of the patient with the same name but different
ID.
[Delete] Delete the currently selected image or report file.
[CephPro] Jump to CephPro image measurement software.
Shortcuts:
[Ctrl + N] Add a new patient.
[Ctrl + P] Bring out the "System Configuration" page.
[Ctrl + E] Export data.
[Ctrl + I] Import data.

[Ctrl + B] Disk burning.
[Delete] Delete the selected patient or image.

New patient

Click the [New Patient] tap above the patient list to bring up the page as shown in Figure 4-4.

Among the input fields on this page, two (Patient ID and Patient's name) are required fields,
others are optional fields (Gender, Date of birth, Phone number, Doctor's profession, etc.). After
entering the information, click [Save] to create the patient profile.
The newly created patient profile will be added to the patient list, as shown in Figure 4-5.

Tips:

Patient ID: Not repeatable and cannot be left empty. An ID can contain numbers or
letters and two symbols (-and _) and should be 1-20 digits in length;
Patient's name: Can't be empty or longer than 20 digits;
Phone number: Can contain only numbers, spaces and two symbols (- and +) and
should not be longer than 500 digits;
Remarks: No longer than 500 digits in length.

Modification of patient information

The user can edit and change information in a patient profile. Click [Edit] below the [Scan]
button to bring up the "Edit" dialog box, in which you can edit profile information such as name,
gender, date of birth, phone number, etc. or add a photo after clicking the corresponding area.

Data deletion

The user can delete patient records and images.


Delete patient records through the right-click menu: After selecting a patient in the patient
list, right-click and select [Delete] in the pop-up menu to delete the patient's record and all the data
in it.
Deletion tool: Select [Delete] under the thumbnail image of patient to delete the currently
selected image or report file.

Tips:

To prevent accidental deletion, you need to enter a password for deleting any data in
the scan-available version of the software. However, data in the view-only version software
can be deleted directly without entering any password, so please be careful not to delete
anything useful.

Data query

Users can make queries by patient name, patient age, patient ID, gender, examination time,

time range and image type. If you don't want to filter data by a certain type of information, please
leave blank the corresponding field and uncheck the corresponding check box. After entering the
information required for filtering, images and reports that satisfy all filtering conditions will appear
in the window below. To clear the input field for filtering, just click [Clear filter].

After the above window appears, the software will automatically detect the available optical
drives in the system. If you need to select another optical drive, please select it from the drop-down
menu from the top of the window. After replacing a disk, please click the [Refresh] button behind
the [Current Disc Type] field. The available space of the disc must be larger than the size of the file
to be burned into the disk. If the disc is rewritable and the optical drive supports rewriting operation,
you can select [Clear Disk Data] to clear the disk before burning.
If you do not want to write other files into the disc afterwards, you should check [Lock Disc]
before the burning starts. It should be noted that some types of discs do not support this function.
If you want the disc to eject automatically after the operation is completed, please check
beforehand the box saying [Automatically Eject After Burning].

Please do not close the window during the burning process, otherwise it will result in disc
damage and abnormal drive status. If an exception occurs to the optical drive, please restart the
computer. During the burning process, you can do other operations such as image processing.

Data import

Both local data and network Dicom data can be imported.

Import local data

To import local data, click [Import Local Data] to bring up the directory selection page and
then select the directory where the relevant data are located.

Import network DICOM data

Select [RIS \ PACS] to bring up the dialog box, in which you can select the pre-configured
network node and then click the [Query] button to import the network DICOM data.

Tips:

To use this function, the user needs to complete network node configuration in advance in
the system configuration interface and node configuration page, for more details please refer to
Section 10.

Data export

Exportable data include local images, local patient records and data for the view-only version
software.

Export images

Method one: After selecting a record from the patient list, right-click and select [Export
Patient Profile] in the pop-up menu, then select a storage path in the follow up window and click
OK to complete the operation. You can choose whether to export the data for viewing-only
software and whether to export anonymously (without patient's personal information). Other than
exporting a single image, you can also export multiple patient images simultaneously by using the
shortcut key.

Method Two: Select a thumbnail image and click [Export Data] below to export a single image
or multiple images of the patient (you can use shift to select multiple thumbnails).
Note: The exported data are in Dicom format.

Export patient records

Click located in the lower left corner, then [Setting]-[System Configuration]-[Data


Management], click [Export] to export the patient records to an Excel file (you can filter the data to
be exported by scan type and creation time).

Total number of patients and images

After importing local data or downloading network data, the software will calculate the total
number of patients and images in the local database (displayed in the upper right corner of the main
interface), as shown in Figure 4-9.

Disk space warning

Navigate to the [System Configuration] page and open the [Data Management] menu, then set
the path for storing local data as shown in Figure 4-10.

When the free disk space for the directory is below 20G, the disk space bar in the upper right
corner will turn red and a warning box will pop up, which says: Insufficient hard disk space.
Scanning function will be blocked when there is less than 3G free disk space.

Image processing
Contrast adjustment

You can adjust contrast by using the slider from the toolbar on the right side of the window, as
shown in Figure 5-1.

Brightness adjustment

You can adjust brightness by using the slider from the toolbar on the right side of the window,
as shown in Figure 5-1.

Sharpness adjustment

You can adjust sharpness by using the slider from the toolbar on the right side of the window,
as shown in Figure 5-1.

Gamma adjustment

You can adjust gamma by using the slider from the toolbar on the right side of the window, as
shown in Figure 5-1.

Measurement
Distance measurement

5.2.1.1 Creating a new instance

a). Navigate to the toolbar and left-click the button on the measurement tap so that it is

selected, as indicated by the icon changing to , and use the mouse to start a distance
measurement;

b). Navigate to the image display window, left-click the starting point of the distance to be
measured, which is the first endpoint of the line segment to be measured;
c). Move the mouse cursor (the distance between the cursor point and the first end point will
be displayed in real time) to the ending point of the distance to be measured and click the left mouse
button to define the second endpoint of the line segment, at which point the distance between both
endpoints can be measured will be displayed on the upper right side of the corresponding line
segment;
d). After finishing measuring the length of a line segment, navigate to the toolbar and left-click

the button on the measurement tap or double-click the image area to unselect the button (as

indicated by its icon changing back to ) and exit the single measurement mode.
5.2.1.2 Edit the line segment to be measured
After unselecting the distance measurement button.
a). Move the cursor to an endpoint of the line segment, press the left mouse button and move
the cursor to drag the endpoint to a new location, then release the left mouse button to display the
length value of the new line segment;
b). Move the cursor on top of a line segment, press the left mouse button and move the cursor
to drag the whole segment to a new parallel position, then release the left mouse button to complete
the operation;
c). To move a measured value, move the cursor on top of it, press the left mouse button and
move the cursor to drag it to a new position, then release the left mouse button to complete the
operation;
d). Repeat the above operations as needed to finish line segment editing;

Angle measurement

5.2.2.1 Creating a new angle

a). Navigate to the main toolbar and click the button on the measurement tap so that it

is selected, as indicated by the icon changing to , and use the mouse to create a new angle
measuring graph;
b). Navigate to the image display window, left-click on a position within the image to be
measured to define the first endpoint of the angle measuring graph;
c). Navigate to another position in the image and click the left mouse button to set the vertex
of the angle measuring graph;
d). Move the mouse cursor (the measured value of the angle between the current cursor position
and the first endpoint and angle vertex will be displayed in real time in a field near the vertex) to a
third position within the image and click the left mouse button to define the second endpoint of the

angle measuring graph, at which point the measured value of the angle between all three points will
be displayed in a field near the vertex;
e). Repeat step b and c as needed to create multiple angle measuring graphs for obtaining
multiple angle values;

f). After finishing the operation, navigate to the toolbar and left-click the button on the
measurement tap or double-click the image area to unselect the button (as indicated by its icon

changing back to ) and exit the angle measuring graph creation mode.
5.2.2.2 Editing the angle measuring graph
After unselecting the angle measurement button,
a). Move the cursor over the vertex or an endpoint of the angle measuring graph, press the left
mouse button and move the cursor to drag the endpoint to a new location, then release the left mouse
button to display the angle value of the new angle measuring graph;
b). Move the cursor on top of a side line of the angle measuring graph, press the left mouse
button and move the cursor to drag the whole angle measuring graph to a new parallel position, then
release the left mouse button to complete the operation;
c). To move a measured value, move the cursor on top of it, press the left mouse button and
move the cursor to drag it to a new position, then release the left mouse button to complete the
operation;
d). Repeat the above operations as needed to finish the editing work;

Curve measurement

5.2.3.1 Creating a new curve

a). Navigate to the main toolbar and click the button on the measurement tap so that it

is selected, as indicated by the icon changing to ;


b). Navigate to the image display window, left-click on a position within the image to be
measured to define the first endpoint of the angle measuring graph;
c). Move the mouse cursor and click the left mouse button continuously to place marking points.
After placing the last marking point, click the right mouse button to complete the curve measurement,
at which point the length of the curve will be displayed in a position nearing one end of the curve;
e). Repeat step b and c as needed to create multiple angle measuring graphs for obtaining
multiple angle values;
5.2.3.2 Editing a curve measuring graph
After unselecting the curve measurement button,
a). Move the cursor over a marking point of the curve, press the left mouse button and move
the cursor to drag the marking point to a new location, then release the left mouse button to display

the length of the new curve;

Rectangular measurement

5.2.4.1 Creating a new rectangular area

a). Navigate to the main toolbar and click the button on the measurement tap so that it

first vertex of the rectangle, then press down the mouse button and drag its cursor to the desired

Reset to default view

Click [Reset] to revert all image-related parameters (position, zoom ratio, brightness,
contrast, sharpness, gamma, etc.) back to their default state, including:
a). Returning to default contrast, brightness, sharpness and gamma value;
b). Having the image fill up the corresponding display window with the center of the image
coinciding with that of the display window;
c). Having all display windows return to their default state when being loaded.

Markings
Information display

The check boxes on the right toolbar are available for users to customize information display,
including: Patient Info, Measuring Graph, Position Info. Corresponding information appears within
the image display area when a box is checked (all boxes checked in default).

Text comment

5.4.2.1 Creating text comments

a). Navigate to the main toolbar and click the button so that it is selected, as indicated

by the icon changing to ;


b). Click on a point on the image as required to bring up the input box, after entering the text,
click "OK" to complete the operation.
5.4.2.2 Editing text comment
To move a text comment, move the cursor on top of it, and then hold down the left mouse
button and drag the comment to the desired position.

Arrow mark

5.4.3.1 Creating arrow marks

a). Navigate to the main toolbar and click the button so that it is selected, as indicated

by the icon changing to ;


b). Click on a point on the image as required to define the first endpoint of the arrow mark,
then move the cursor to the desired position for the other endpoint and click the left mouse button
to finish the operation;

c). Repeat step b to create multiple arrows;
d). After finishing the operation, double-click the left mouse button to unselect the arrow mark

button , as indicated by the icon changing back to .


5.4.3.2 Editing arrow marks
To change the direction and length of an arrow mark, move the cursor to an endpoint of the

arrow mark, when the cursor changed to , hold down the left mouse button and move the
mouse cursor to drag the endpoint to the desired position; to move the whole arrow mark, move the

cursor on top of its body (nearing its middle point), when the cursor changed to , hold down
the left mouse button and move the cursor to drag the whole arrow to the desired position.

Marker color customization

Click the configuration button in the lower left corner, in the pop-up page select
[Settings]-[System Configuration]-[Measurement Marks], then click on the corresponding fields to
configure the color of the measurement tracks and the color and font size of the text comments. The
system configuration page and color board are as shown in Figure 5-3:

Marking deletion

Markings can be removed using the same method as described in 5.2.5 "Deletion of measuring

To facilitate report editing works, users can send original images or snipped pictures to the
report module as needed for writing diagnostic reports.

Original image

This function is used to send the original image displayed in the window to the report page.
Right-click on the image area and select [Send Original Image], the original image displayed
in the window (as shown in Figure 5-4) will be sent to the report page.

Partial screenshot

This function is used to take partial screenshots (which may contain patient's information,
position lines, etc.) of the image displayed in the window and send them to the report page.

a). Click the partial screenshot button on the output toolbar, and a yellow box will
appear in the image display window, as shown in Figure 5-6.
b). After adjusting the position and size of the yellow box with the mouse, click the right mouse
button to save the partial image captured within the yellow box and send it to the report module.

Image printing

This function is used to print the image currently displayed in the window.
Click the [Print] button in the right toolbar to bring up the "Print Preview" window, as shown
in Figure 5-7.

Diagnosis plan

Saving multiple diagnosis plans made by the doctor helps facilitate future diagnosis and sharing
of these plans;
Information in a diagnosis plan that can be saved includes measurement information, image
processing parameters, markings, etc.

Saving a diagnosis plan

1. Adjust the image processing parameters, brightness, contrast, etc. as needed; add
measurement information and markings;
2. 2. Click [Save Diagnosis Plan] in the output control panel, a window as shown in Figure
5-9 will pop up.

3. Enter the relevant information (creator and notes) in this window and click [Save] to
complete the operation.

Loading a diagnosis plan

The user can load a diagnosis plan either from the patient list or the image viewing interface.

5.6.2.1 Loading via the patient list

1. After double-clicking on an image, a diagnosis plan list will pop up, as shown in Figure 5-

10.

2. Select the desired diagnosis plan, double-click or click [Open] to load it directly;
3. If you want to open the original image, do not select the diagnosis plan, just click [Open]

diagnosis plan list, as shown in Figure 5-11.

Deleting a diagnosis plan

It allows the user to switch between the patient management page, 2D image page, 3D image
page and the report module.
2. Page switching field
This module contains four pages: MPR page, Panoramic view, Dental implant and TMJ
(temporomandibular joint), and you can use the page switching field to switch between them. For
the detailed information about the four pages, please refer to section 6.3 ~ 6.6.
3. Image display area
The four pages have different image display layouts and corresponding functions. For details,
please refer to sections 6.3 ~ 6.6.
4. Toolbar
It contains various basic image processing functions. The tools included in the toolbar of each
page will be different, and the frequently-used tools are shown as follows:

position lines show up in each display window inside the page
(the shortcut key for this item is Ctrl+A);

Distance measurement

Creating a new instance

a). Navigate to the toolbar and left-click the button on the measurement tap so that it is

selected, as indicated by the icon changing to , and use the mouse to start a distance
measurement;
b). Navigate to the image display window, left-click the starting point of the distance to be
measured, which is the first endpoint of the line segment to be measured;
c). Move the mouse cursor (the distance between the cursor point and the first endpoint will be
displayed in real time) to the ending point of the distance to be measured and click the left mouse
button to define the second endpoint of the line segment, at which point the measurable distance
between both endpoints will be displayed on the upper right side of the corresponding line segment;
d). After finishing measuring the length of a certain distance, navigate to the toolbar and left-

click the button on the measurement tap to unselect it (as indicated by its icon changing back

to ) and exit the measurement mode.


e) Repeat steps b and c multiple times to perform multiple distance measurements.

Edit the line segment to be measured


a). Click on a line segment that has been measured to have it selected;
b). Move the cursor to an endpoint of the line segment, hold down the left mouse button and
move the cursor to drag the endpoint to a new location, then release the left mouse button to display

c). Move the cursor on top of a line segment, hold down the left mouse button and move the

Deleting distance measurement line segments
a). Click on a line segment that has been measured to have it selected;
b). After selecting the measurement graph to be deleted, right-click and select [Delete
Measurement Graph] in the pop-up menu or press the Delete key on the keyboard to delete it;
c). Right-click and select [Delete All Measurement Graphs] in the pop-up menu to delete all
measurement graphs;

Curve measurement

a). Left-click on the toolbar to have it selected, as indicated by the icon changing to

;
b). Navigate to the image display window, left-click on a position within the image to be
measured to define the first endpoint of the curve;
c). Move the mouse cursor and click the left mouse button continuously to place marking points.
After placing the last marking point, click the right mouse button to complete the curve measurement,
at which point the length of the curve will be displayed in a position nearing one end of the curve;
d). After finishing measuring the length of a curve, navigate to the toolbar and left-click the

button on the measurement tap to unselect it (as indicated by its icon changing back to )
and exit the measurement mode.
e). Repeat steps b and c as needed to create multiple curves for obtaining multiple length values;
curves can be edited and deleted using the same methods as those used for line segments.

Angle measurement

1. Creating a new angle measuring graph

a). Navigate to the main toolbar and click the button on the measurement tap so that it

is selected, as indicated by the icon changing to , and use the mouse to create a new angle
measuring graph;
b). Navigate to an image display window, left-click on a position within the image to be
measured to define the first endpoint of the angle measuring graph;
c). Navigate to another position in the image and click the left mouse button to set the vertex
of the angle measuring graph;
d). Move the mouse cursor (the measured value of the angle between the current cursor position

and the first endpoint and angle vertex will be displayed in real time in a field near the vertex) to a
third position within the image and click the left mouse button to define the second endpoint of the
angle measuring graph, at which point the measured value of the angle between all three points will
be displayed in a field near the vertex;
e). Repeat step b and c as needed to create multiple angle measuring graphs for obtaining
multiple angle values;

f). After finishing the operation, navigate to the toolbar and left-click the button on the

measurement tap (as indicated by its icon changing back to ) and exit the angle measuring
graph creation mode.
2. Editing the angle measuring graph
a). Click an angle that has been measured to have it selected;
b). Move the cursor over an endpoint of the angle measuring graph, hold down the left mouse
button and move the cursor to drag the endpoint to a new location, then release the left mouse button
to display the angle value of the new angle measuring graph;
c). Move the cursor on top of a side line of the angle measuring graph, hold down the left
mouse button and move the cursor to drag the whole angle measuring graph to a new parallel
position, then release the left mouse button to complete the operation;
d). Repeat the above operations as needed to finish the editing work;
3. Deleting angle measuring graph
a). Click on a completed angle measuring graph to have it selected;
b). After selecting the measurement graph to be deleted, right-click and select [Delete
Measurement Graph] in the pop-up menu or press the Delete key on the keyboard to delete it;
c). Right-click and select [Delete All Measurement Graphs] in the pop-up menu to delete all
measurement graphs.

Contrast adjustment

Gamma adjustment

a). Within each display page, drag the gamma adjustment slider located

in the 2D image processing panel to adjust the gamma of all 2D images in the page;

Color customization

This software provides a color customization function. Click [Customize] on the right side of
the MPR page to bring up the 3D color table adjustment window as shown in the figure below. The
histogram represents the number of pixels in each density area, and the pink polyline represents the
grayscale mapping curve adopted by the current window.

1. Adjusting the window width and position
In order to facilitate users to better observe the image according to their personal preferences,
the window width and window position of the image display window can be adjusted by changing
the positions of the control points on the grayscale curve. The window position refers to the density
value of the tissue, and the window width refers to the range of this density value, both of which
can be adjusted by the user according to his personal needs.
a). After moving the cursor to a circular control point on the histogram, drag the cursor left and
right while holding down the mouse button to change the window width and window position.
b). When the window position elevates/drops, the contrast of high/low density tissue on the
image will increase.
c). When window width increases, the range of visible density increases and the image contrast
decreases accordingly; when window width decreases, the range of visible density decreases and
the image contrast increases accordingly;
2. Longitudinal stretch
When the histogram of the image is relatively flat, the users can change the height of the
background curve to make the histogram show more obvious fluctuations, so as to make it more
convenient to determine the density range (window width and window position).
Click "+" in the toolbar of the 3D color adjustment window to raise-up the background curve
and make the histogram show more obvious fluctuations or "-" below the fine-tuning window to
reduce the height of the background curve and make the histogram appear flatter.
3. Background magnification mode
Background magnification mode helps expand to cover a whole range of density value, making
it more convenient to determine the window width and window position.
a). Click on "Enter background magnification mode" on the toolbar in the 3D color adjustment
window to activate this mode, after which the "Enter Background magnification mode" changes to

"Exit Background magnification mode".
b). Drag the slider under the 3D color adjustment window to adjust the range of the horizontal
coordinate of the histogram, as shown in the following figure; at this time, the position of the control
point can be adjusted to allow finer adjustment of the window width and window position.
c). To exit this mode, just click "Exit Background Magnification Mode" after which the field
will change back to "Enter Background Magnification Mode ".

4. Gamma adjustment
a). You can adjust the gamma value of the image through the slider located on the right side of
the 3D color adjustment window;
b). Drag the slider up to make the image appear darker and drag it down to make the image
appear brighter.
5. Display settings for targeted areas
The users can add gray shading to areas that are not necessary to display by dragging the scroll
slider below the 3D color adjustment window or entering corresponding numbers in the text box to
the right of the scroll bar. As shown in the figure below, the tissues belonging to the area covered
by the gray shadings on both sides will be removed from the 3D image displayed.

6. Saving the current state


Navigate to the toolbar in the 3D color fine-tuning window, click "Save Current State" to save
the current state into a file, which in default is named by the time of creation. The current state files
will be added to the list of saved states, making it convenient for the user to reuse the saved
parameter settings.
7. Loading the saved states
This function is used to load the user-defined states saved earlier.
8. Deleting a saved state
Navigate to the toolbar in the 3D color fine-tuning window, click "Load" button to change it to
"Delete", then select any pre-set state by its name to delete it.
Note: After deleting a pre-set file, click the button again to restore it from "Delete" to "Load",
after which you can select a pre-set file to load.

Reset to default

Click [Reset] on the toolbar to revert all images shown in all windows back to their
default state, including:
a). Returning to default contrast, brightness, sharpness and gamma value;
b). Having the image fill up the corresponding display window with the center of the image

Interface

The three-section view window is divided into 2x2 sections, including three sectional

1. Three-section view
Taking the sagittal plane as an example, its display window contains the following information:

Scale
a). The scale starts from the lower left point of the window;
b). Each image window contains a horizontal scale and a vertical scale;
c). Longer scale marks divide up the scale by centimeter, while the shorter ones divide it up by
millimeters.
Position line
a). There are two types of position lines: Horizontal position lines and vertical position lines;
b). In the display window of axial plane, the horizontal position line represents the cross-
section of the coronal plane, while the vertical position line indicates the cross-section of the
sagittal plane;
c). In the display window of coronal plane, the horizontal position line represents the cross-
section of the axial plane, while the vertical position line indicates the cross-section of the sagittal
plane;
d). In the display window of sagittal plane, the horizontal position line represents the cross-
section of the axial plane, while the vertical position line indicates the cross-section of the coronal
plane;
Orientation marks
a). These marks indicate the anatomical orientation of the image, including A (Anterior), P
(Posterior), U (Up), D (Down), L (Left), R (Right), T (Top), B (Bottom);
b). Orientation marks in the display window of axial plane: L (Left), R (Right), A (Anterior),
P (Posterior);
c). Orientation marks in the display window of coronal plane: L (Left), R (Right), T (Top), B

Grayscale value
When moving the mouse cursor within the image display area, the grayscale value of the
cursor position will be displayed in real time. For example, "-1000 HU" means that the current
grayscale value is -1000 HU units.
Zoom ratio
If the [Zoom] button on the toolbar is activated, the current zoom ratio will be displayed in
real time in the lower right corner of the display window.
2. 3D model display area
The lower right display window on the 3D page contains the 3D model of the relevant body
part, as shown in Figure 6-19.

The three colored frames in the 3D model display indicate the cross sections of the 3D model
which correspond to the three sectional images displayed in the three-section view window. By
default, three mutually orthogonal indication frames correspond respectively to the sagittal plane
(red), coronal plane (green) and axial plane (blue).

2D view adjustment

Under [2D] in the toolbar are basic tools for 2D display adjustment, including: Contrast
adjustment, brightness adjustment, sharpness adjustment and gamma adjustment, as shown in
Figure 6-20.

Contrast control for the three sectional views, please refer to 5.1.1 for details.
2. Brightness adjustment
Brightness control for the three sectional views, please refer to 5.1.2 for details.
3. Hide / Show CT image

This is used to hide or show the 3D model. Click once to bring out the 3D model, as

indicated by the icon changing to . Click it again to hide the 3D model.


4. ROI display
It is used to select the region of interest.
a). Click the [ROI] button on the toolbar to the right of the three-section view page, ROI
selection boxes will appear in the image display areas of the three sectional views, as shown below:

b). Move the cursor into the selection box, then move the mouse while holding down the left
mouse button to update in real time the ROI display of the 3D model;
5. 3D image fine-tuning
This function allows the user to adjust the brightness, contrast, color and opacity of the 3D
image.
Click the [Customize] button on the toolbar to the right of the three-section view page to call
out the 3D color adjustment table as shown below.

Displayed in the 3D image fine-tuning window is a histogram that corresponds to the image in
the window, which shows the number of pixels in different density areas. The pink polyline
represents the opacity and color mapping curve with respect to the current window. The user can
adjust the opacity and color of the specified density area by adjusting the position of the control
points on the polyline.

(1) Opacity adjustment
Move the cursor to the circular control point on the image, and drag the cursor up and down
while holding down the left mouse button to adjust the opacity of the area where the control point
is located.

Tips:

As shown in the figure above, according to the opacity value, from right to left on the
histogram are respectively hard tissue → soft tissue → air, meaning that the hard tissue has
the highest opacity, which is followed by that of soft tissue, and then that of air.

(2) Longitudinal stretching


See section 5.1.7 for details about this function.
(3) Background magnification
See section 5.1.7 for details about this function.
(4) Color settings of the control point
Each control point has its own color, and the area between two control points shows gradual
color change from that of the first control point to that of the second one.
Move the cursor over the circular control point and double-click the left mouse button (or right-
click and select [Color Settings] in the pop-up menu) to bring out color selection window as shown
below:

Select the desired color and click [OK] to complete the operation.
(5) Display settings for targeted areas
In order to see more clearly image sections within a specific opacity range, the user can reduce
the opacity of areas that are not necessary to display to the minimum (indicated by being blacked
out on the image).

Similar to the operation for fine-tuning of 2D images, the user can add gray shading to areas
that are not necessary to display by dragging the scroll slider below the 3D color adjustment window
or entering corresponding numbers in the text box to the right of the scroll bar. As shown in Figure
6-24 and Figure 6-25, the tissues belonging to the area covered by the gray shadings on both sides
will be removed from the 3D image displayed.

(6) Curve line mode


In default the change in opacity is represented by a polyline (a piecewise straight line). In order
to facilitate users to make more detailed adjustments to the three-dimensional image according to
their individual needs, this software also supports using a curve line to indicate the change in opacity.
Navigate to the toolbar in the 3D image fine-tuning window, click "Exit Straight Line Mode"
to switch to curve line mode, at which point the "Exit straight line mode" becomes " Exit Straight
Line Mode ", clicking it to switch the display mode back to straight line mode.

(7) Saving the current state


Navigate to the toolbar in the 3D image fine-tuning window, click "Save Current State" to save
the current state into a file, which in default is named by the time of creation. The current state files
will be added to the list of saved states, making it convenient for the user to reuse the saved
parameter settings.
(8) Loading the saved states
This function is used to load the user-defined states saved earlier.
(9) Deleting a saved state
Navigate to the toolbar in the 3D image fine-tuning window, click "Load" button to change it
to "Delete", then select any pre-set state by its name to delete it.

Tips:

After deleting a pre-set file, click the button again to restore it from "Delete" to
"Load", after which you can select a pre-set file to load.

6. 3D view-related preset color configurations


4 different preset color configurations are available. Navigate to the toolbar located to the right
of the three sectional views page, click [Color Configurations] to bring up the window shown in
Figure 6-27, and select the desired color configuration to complete the operation.

Metal artifact correction

If there are metal parts in the patient's oral cavity, there will be significant radial artifacts in the
scanned image. This metal artifact correction function helps to reduce the impact of said artifacts
on the image clarity.
Switch to the MPR page, click [Metal Artifact Correction] on the right toolbar, the system will
make corrections and re-built the image. Refer to Figures 6-28 and 6-29 for the comparison of
images before and after the correction.

Fine reconstruction

Fine reconstruction function is used for high-precision detailed reconstruction of selected


smaller parts of the image.
a). Navigate to the MPR page, click [Partial Edit] on the right toolbar to bring up the fine
reconstruction selection box within the image display area of the MPR page, as shown below:

b). Move the cursor into the selection box, then move the mouse while holding down the left
mouse button to update in real time the display of corresponding parts of the 3D model;
c). After selecting the area to be reconstructed, click [Fine Reconstruction] button to execute

d). After the reconstruction, display of the specified area within the three sectional view page
will automatically be updated with the high-precision reconstruction data.

Tools

The tool list contains three categories: Measurement, Markings and General. For detailed usage
of these tools, refer to Table 6-1.

Output

1. Sending original images


Right-click once in the selected image display window and select [Send Original Image] in the
pop-up menu to send the original image to the image field located on the right side of the report
module interface;
2.Sending captured images
a). Right-click once in the selected image display window and select [Send Captured Image]
in the pop-up menu to send the captured image to the image field located on the right side of the
report module interface;

b). Click the partial screenshot button on the output toolbar on top to activate the

screenshot tool, as indicated by the icon changing to , at which point a yellow box will appear
in the image display window, as shown in the figure below. After adjusting the position and size of
the yellow box with the mouse, right-click once in the selected image display window and select
[Send captured image] in the pop-up menu to send the captured image to the report module.

Tips:

Sending captured images means taking partial screenshots (which may contain patient's
information, position lines, etc.) of the image displayed in the window and send them to the
report page, while sending original images means sending raw images previously loaded into the
window.

3. Sending page screenshots


Right-click once in the selected image display window and select [Send page screenshot] in
the pop-up menu to send the page screenshot to the image field located on the right side of the report
module interface;

Other operations

1. Maximizing the display area

Navigate to the upper right corner of an image display window and click on to

maximize the display area of said window, at which point said field will change to . Figure 6-
32 shows a maximized axial slice display window.

2. Switching between images of different levels


a). After opening the right-click menu and selecting [Page Turn], navigate to the display
window, drag the mouse up and down while holding down the left mouse button to switch to images
of higher/lower levels.
b). After navigating to the axial plane display window, scroll the mouse wheel
upward/downward to switch to images of higher/lower levels.
c). Place the cursor on the page turning slider, press down the left mouse button and drag the
slider up / down to switch to images of higher / lower levels.
3. Changing slice thickness
The slice thickness here is the thickness of the slices superimposed in the direction
perpendicular to the slice line.

Click the drop-down list from the top right corner of the slice display window and

select a thickness value from it, the corresponding display window will be updated according to the
new thickness value.
4. Sending images

Click on located at the upper right corner of the slice display window to send the original
or captured image to the report.
5. Export

Click on located at the upper right corner of the slice display window to export the image
to a local directory.
6. Image rolling

Images in the window can be rotated along the vertical or horizontal axis, the former applies
to coronal images and the latter applies to sagittal images and cross sections. For specific operation
methods, please refer to 6.3.2.

Exporting STL

Navigate to the control panel for export tools, click to bring out the STL export window,
as shown in Figure: 6-34.

1. Tooth tagging

After clicking [Tagging], you can select whether to add foreground tags or background tags;
Foreground tags: Drawing lines on the three sectional views with the red line in the foreground;
Background tags: Drawing lines on the three sectional views with the blue line in the

2. Tag editing
Undo: When drawing the lines, click [Undo] to cancel the previous line, click it again to remove
another line before that......;
Clear: When drawing the lines, click [Clear] will remove all lines created.
3. Calculated segmentation result
Click [Calculate] to generate the segmentation result, which will be displayed in color.
After completing a calculation, you can adjust the tagging area by moving the tagging lines
and then redo a calculation.
4. Saving the segmentation result
Click [Save the Segmentation Result] to save the segmented crown as an STL model into the
database for patient management.

Model list

1. Loading the model


Click [Load] to bring up the operation window shown in Figure 6-38;

Select the maxillary / mandibular model and click [Registration] to bring up the interactive

Click [Calculation] to perform automatic registration, after which the maxillary / mandibular
model will be updated in accordance with the DICOM data coordinate system;
Now the selected model becomes editable, you can adjust its position through the pan and angle
adjustment tools shown on the interface. When you are satisfied with the adjustment results, click
any blank space to exit the editing mode and hide said adjustment tools.
3. Deleting the model
Select the relevant item in the list and click [Delete] to delete the model from the list.
4. Saving the model
Click [Save] to save all new coordinates, at which point data of the registered model can be
exported to the patient list.

Panorama page
Interface

The panorama page is divided into two display areas. The upper area contains axial slices and
panoramas, while the lower area contains panoramic slices, all as shown in Figure 6-34 below.

1. Creating the main panoramic line


a). To create the main panoramic line, click [Create] on the right toolbar;
b). Navigate to the axial slice display window, click the left mouse button multiple times along
the path of the main panoramic line to be created to create multiple key points as shown in the
following figure (the red dots in the figure are the key points created):

c). After all key points are created, click the right mouse button to end the creation of the main
panoramic line. At this time, the newly created main panoramic line and two panoramic position

During the process of creating a panoramic line, you can use the Esc key in the upper left
corner of the keyboard to remove control points created.

2. Adjusting a panoramic line


Adding control points
a). Click [Edit] button on the right toolbar to enter editing mode for main panoramic line, at
which point the control points on the main panoramic line with respect to the axial slice view will
be highlighted (as shown in the following figure):

b). Left-click anywhere along the green curve line to add a control point at that position.
3. Adjusting control points
a). Click [Edit] button on the right toolbar to enter editing mode for main panoramic line, at
which point the control points on the main panoramic line with respect to the axial slice view will
be highlighted;
b). After left-clicking on any key point on the main panoramic line, hold down the left mouse
button and drag the control point to a new position, then release the left button to complete the
editing operation;

After finishing editing a control point.


1. The yellow progressive panoramic line will revert back to a position that coincides with
the main panoramic line, and the panoramic view corresponding to the same main panoramic
line will appear in the panorama display window,
2. The panoramic slice position line will revert back to a position cutting the middle point
of the main panoramic line, and the panoramic slice view corresponding to the same panoramic
slice position line will appear in the panoramic slice display window.

c). Repeat the above steps to edit other key points as needed;
d). After finishing all editing works, right-click to exit the editing mode for main panoramic
line.
4. Automatic generation of panoramic line
Navigate to the panoramic view toolbar, click [Auto generation] to have the system create a
panoramic line for you.

Reset to default view

Other than those defined in Section 6.3, clicking the reset to default button will also
achieve the following effects:
a). The slice position of the image in the Axial plane display window will move to the middle

point (from top to bottom);

b).The yellow progressive panoramic line in the axial plane display window will revert back

to the position that coincides with the green main panoramic line;

c). The panoramic slice position line in the axial plane display window will revert back to a

position cutting the middle point of the main panoramic line, and the panoramic slice view

corresponding to the same panoramic slice position line will appear in the panoramic slice display

window;

d). The panoramic view corresponding to the green main panoramic line in the axial plane

window will appear in the panorama display window;

Progressive adjustment of the main panoramic line

a). Move the cursor into panorama display window and scroll the mouse wheel
upward/downward to gradually shrink/expand the main panoramic line;
b) After turning the mouse wheel, the yellow progressive panoramic line in the axial plane
display window (indicating where the main panoramic line would be after the change) will shrink
or expand accordingly;
c). The panoramic view will also be updated in real time according to the latest yellow
progressive panoramic line.

Switching between images of different levels in the panoramic slice


window

1. By the page turning function


After opening the right-click menu and selecting [Page Turn], navigate to a panoramic slice
display window, drag the mouse up and down while holding down the left mouse button to switch
between images of different levels within the window. At the same time, the corresponding position
lines in the other two panoramic slice display windows and the axial plane display window will be
updated accordingly;

Tips:

1. In the axial slice display window, drag the mouse up/down to switch to images of

higher/lower levels. At the same time, the blue-green position lines in the sagittal and coronal

slice display windows will be updated accordingly;

2. In the sagittal slice display window, drag the mouse up/down to switch to images

correspond to levels closer to the tongue/cheek. At the same time, the green position lines in

the axial slice, coronal slice and axial plane display windows will be updated accordingly;

3. In the coronal slice display window, drag the mouse up/down to switch to images

correspond to levels along the right/left side of the skull. At the same time, the red position

lines in the axial slice, sagittal slice and axial plane display windows will be updated accordingly.

2. By mouse wheel
After navigating to a panoramic slice display window, scroll the mouse wheel
upward/downward to switch between images of different levels within the window;

3. By page turning slider
Place the cursor on the page turning slider, press down the left mouse button and drag the slider
up / down to switch to images of higher / lower levels.

Changing the slice thickness for panoramic view

The panoramic view reflects a certain thickness of slices superimposed in the direction

perpendicular to the progressive panoramic line. click the drop-down list from the
top right corner of the panorama display window and select a thickness value from it, the panoramic
view will be updated according to the new thickness value.

Changing the thickness of the panoramic slice

The slice thickness here is the thickness of the panoramic slices superimposed in the direction
perpendicular to the panoramic slice line.

Click the drop-down list from the top right corner of the slice display window
and select a thickness value from it, the image shown in the panoramic slice display box will be
updated according to the new thickness value.

Dental implant page

When developing a dental implant plan for a patient who needs dental implants, the dentist
needs to understand the patient's oral condition to determine the number, location and size of the
implanted teeth and related implantation techniques. The dental implant simulation function
provided by our system can help a dentist understand the patient's oral condition, so as to achieve
qualitative diagnosis and quantitative measurement. In addition, the dentist can use this software to
simulate the implantation process and formulate a dental implant plan that is more in line with the
patient's personal situation.

Interface within the dental implant page

The image display area within the dental implant page is divided into 2x2 sections, including
three 2D image display sections and one 3D model display area.

1. 2D image
2D images mainly include images of the coronal plane, sagittal plane, axial plane and the
panoramic view. The panoramic view is based on the dental arch line on the axial plane. The user
can perform simulated implant operations on the 2D images and move simulated implants on the
coronal, sagittal, and axial planes.
2. 3D model display window
It contains the reconstructed three-dimensional model of a scanned body part of the patient.
3. Cross-section window
In this window, you can adjust relevant configurations such as window layout, slice thickness,
slice spacing, slice width and send images to the report via the right-click menu.
4. Toolbar
For details on how to use the toolbar, please refer to Table 6-1.
5. Tool control panel
Please refer to Section 6.4.3 for details of usage and to Table 6-2 in section 6.5.1 for use of
panorama tools.

Neural tube

For implants involving the mandible, the dentist needs to ensure that the implant won't damage
the mandibular neural tube. This system has the function that enables the dentist to mark the position
of the mandibular neural tube in the image.
1. Mark the position of the neural tube on the panoramic image
a. After adjusting the panoramic line in the axial plane display window, observe the panoramic
image corresponding to the panoramic line and find out where the mandibular neural tube should

be in the image as shown in Figure 6-31.

b. Click on in the upper toolbar, then place a series of mark points along the determined
neural tube path on the panoramic image. After placing the mark points, right-click to finish drawing
the neural tube.

Tips:

When drawing neural tube on a panoramic image, the system automatically reduces the

corresponding panorama thickness to the minimum value.

c. To manage neural tube images, click to bring out the window as shown in Figure

2. Neural tube information


Number, status (visible / hidden) and diameter are included.
3. Deleting a neural tube
Select a neural tube record in the list and click "Delete" to remove the corresponding neural
tube from the image.
4. Visible/Hidden
Select a neural tube record in the list and click "Visible / Hidden" to show or hide it. After the
drawing is completed, the neural tube will become visible on the panoramic image and the three-
dimensional model.

Implant

This system can be used to simulate the implantation process, which helps the dentist establish
a more accurate implantation plan and improve the patient's satisfaction rate. Functions for implant
simulation include adding new implants, moving added implants and implant management.
1. Inserting implants
a. The axis based on which the implant is inserted should be perpendicular to the dental arch,
as shown in Figure 6-35. Rotate the coronal plane position line (green line) on the axial plane image
until it is perpendicular to the dental arch, and then move the position line to the position where the
implant is inserted on the panoramic image.

b. Click to bring up the "Implant Library" window, as shown below. After selecting a
company in this window, select the appropriate implant product and the corresponding abutment
(optional) in the implant field to the right according to model and size and other parameters, and
then click "OK".

c. Move the cursor to the position where the implant needs to be inserted, and click the right
mouse button to complete the insertion operation.
d. Repeat steps b and c to insert multiple implants.
The inserted implants will become visible on the 2D image, three-dimensional image and

Move the cursor onto the red dot on the implant. When the cursor changes to , hold down
the left mouse button and drag the cursor to an appropriate position, then release the left mouse
button to move the implant to the new position, or, while holding down the left mouse button, rotate
the cursor clockwise or counterclockwise to an appropriate angle, and then release the left mouse
button to rotate the implant to a new position.
3. Implant management
Items under implant management include "Delete Implant", "View Implant Information",
"Replace Implant", "Visible / Hidden" and "Abutment Rotation".

5. Delete implant
Select an implant in the list and click "Delete" to remove it from the image.

the pop-up implant library, and then click OK to replace the original implant with the new one.
8. Visible/Hidden
Select an implant from the list and click "Visible / Hidden" to show/hide it.
9. Abutment rotation angle
After selecting an implant from the list, select a desired angle in the drop-down box of rotation
angles to have the implant rotate to the that angle around the central axis.

TMJ page
Interface

The TMJ page is divided into three windows from left to right. The left window is further
divided into two small windows, the upper one of which contains the sagittal slice of the right joint
while the lower one shows the corresponding coronal slice. The window in the middle contains the
axial view; the right window is also divided into two small windows, the upper one of which
contains the sagittal slice of the left joint while the lower one shows the corresponding coronal slice.

The upper and lower part of the right-sided TMJ slice display window shows respectively the
right-sided TMJ sagittal slice (corresponding to the red position line) and the right-sided TMJ

The right joint position line consists of two line segments perpendicular to each other, among
which the red segment indicates the right-sided TMJ sagittal slice position and the green one

which the red segment indicates the left-sided TMJ sagittal slice position and the green one indicates
the position of the corresponding coronal slice.

a. Navigate to the display contents toolbar located on the right of the TMJ page and check
[Vertical position line], move the cursor over the right-sided cross-shape position line in the axial
slice display window, then hold down the left mouse button to drag the position line to any other
position, and the right joint coronal and sagittal slice images will be updated in real time accordingly.
Similarly, move the cursor over the left-sided cross-shape position line, then hold down the left
mouse button to drag the position line to any other position, and the left joint coronal and sagittal
slice images will also be updated in real time accordingly.
b. Navigate to the display contents toolbar located on the right of the TMJ page and uncheck
[Vertical position line], move the cursor over the red segment of the right-joint cross-shape
position line in the axial slice display window, then hold down the left mouse button to drag the
position line to any other position, and the right joint coronal slice image will be updated in real
time accordingly, or, move the cursor over the green segment of the right-joint cross-shape position
line in the axial slice display window, then hold down the left mouse button to drag the position line
to any other position, and the right joint sagittal slice image will be updated in real time accordingly.
Similarly, move the cursor over the red segment of the left-joint cross-shape position line, then
hold down the left mouse button to drag the position line to any other position, and the left joint
coronal slice image will be updated in real time accordingly, or, move the cursor over the green
segment of the left-joint cross-shape position line in the axial slice display window, then hold down
the left mouse button to drag the position line to any other position, and the left joint sagittal slice
image will be updated in real time accordingly.
As shown in Figure 6-44, after changing the spacing between slices, the relative position line
after the slice movement will be shown on the axial plane image.

2. Rotating joint position lines

When viewing the axial slice image, move the cursor near the indicated endpoint of the cross

shape position line, when the cursor changes to , hold down the left mouse button to rotate the
position line to any angle, the coronal and sagittal slice images of corresponding joints will be
updated accordingly.
3. Switching between images of different levels
a. After opening the right-click menu and selecting [Page Turn], navigate to the display window,
drag the mouse up and down while holding down the left mouse button to switch to images of
higher/lower levels.
b. After navigating to the axial plane display window, scroll the mouse wheel
upward/downward to switch to images of higher/lower levels.
c. Place the cursor on the page turning slider, press down the left mouse button and drag the
slider up / down to switch to images of higher / lower levels.
4. Changing the window layout

Click on in the Cross-Section window located at the top right corner of the display

window on the TMJ slice page and select [Layout] in the popup window to

select a layout (1 1/2 2/3 3/4 4/5X5) or create a custom layout according to your personal needs.
After selecting a layout, the image in the corresponding display window will be updated accordingly
(1/4/9/16/25 slices at positions adjacent to the corresponding position line).
5. Changing slice thickness
The slice thickness here is the thickness of the TMJ slices superimposed in the direction
perpendicular to the TMJ slice line.

Click the drop-down list from the Cross-Section window located at the
top right corner of the TMJ slice display window, select a thickness value from it, and the
corresponding display window will be updated according to the new thickness value.
6. Changing slice spacing
TMJ slice spacing refers to the distance between different slices shown in the TMJ slice display
window.
Navigate to TMJ slice display window and open the spacing drop-down list

in the Cross-Section window at the top right, select one of the values from the
list to complete the change.

6.7.4 Other operations

Please refer to 6.3.12 for maximizing the display area and to 6.4.4 for operations such as reset
to default, progressive movement of the main panoramic line, changing levels in the panoramic slice
display window, changing the slice thickness in the panoramic view and changing the thickness of
the panoramic slice.

Cranial images

Note: Only data obtained from the maxillofacial mode, fast-scan mode and standard mode
can be reflected in the cranial image, those from the HD mode and Super HD mode are not supported.
With the help of cranial images, users can complete the quantitative measurement of the
patient's oral cavity, which helps in formulating an orthodontic plan according to the patient's
specific situation.

Cranial posture adjustment

Users can adjust the patient's posture according to the standard posture for cranial scan through
posture adjustment operations to ensure the accuracy and comparability of image-based
measurements.

a). Auto:Click to perform automatic alignment based on the positions of ear points,
thereby automatically adjusting the posture shown in the image to the standard posture for cranial

scan.

b). Reset: Click to restore the image to its original state.

c). Up: Click to rotate the cranial posture upward by the selected angle.

d). Down: Click to rotate the cranial posture downward by the selected angle.

e). Left: Click to turn the cranial posture to the left by the selected angle.

f). Right: Click to turn the cranial posture to the right by the selected angle.

g). Left tilt: Click to tilt the cranial posture to the left by the selected angle.

h). Right tilt: Click to tilt the cranial posture to the right by the selected angle.

Tips:

1. The auto-alignment function is suitable for images with ear-point marks. Since there

may be errors in the ear point marks, if it’s difficult to find the correct ear points, it is

recommended to manually adjust the patient's posture.

2. The adjustment is conducted from the side of patients.

Downsampling acceleration

Tick this function to increase the refresh rate during the posture adjustment (at the cost of
reducing the image quality). After the posture adjustment is completed, uncheck this item to restore
the image quality to its original state.

Orthopedic de-spine

Tick this box to remove spine from the orthopedic image.

Soft tissue brightening

Use the slider to adjust the range of soft tissue brightening. Swipe to the left to increase the
range and to the right to decrease it.

Marking point measurement

After selecting a specific mark point on the cranial image, you can use the measurement
functions of the system (length measurement, angle measurement, see section 5.2 for details) to
perform quantitative measurement.

Image fine-tuning

See section 5.2.9 for related operations.

Saving diagnosis plans

Saving multiple diagnosis plans made by the doctor helps facilitate future diagnosis and
sharing of these plans;
Information in a diagnosis plan that can be saved includes measurement information, 2D and
3D image processing parameters, slice position, zoom ratio, thickness, direction, layout, spacing,
width, image markings, neural tube marking, implant information, etc.
Saving a CT image-based diagnosis plan means saving the diagnostic information on 4
different pages (3D view, Panoramic view, Implant and TMJ).
For the specific operation method, please refer to Section 5.6 "Diagnosis plan".

Face scan image


Navigate to the patient list, double-click on [Face Scan] to directly open the face scan display
window as shown in Figure 7-1.

Report
The report page provides functions such as creation, editing, saving, printing and uploading.

Report creation

a. Navigate to the image module and send the screenshots / original images required for the
report to the report page.
b. Navigate to the report page and the report editing window, which shows information related
to the patient and the hospital in its header and contains images send from the image module, as
shown in Figure 7-1.

1. The same image can only be inserted for one time into the same report. If you

need to insert the same image multiple times, please send it from the image module.

Deleting images

1. Delete images from the report editing window


a. Select the image you want to delete in the report editing window and press the Delete key
on the keyboard to delete it from the report editing window.
b. You can also delete an image from the report editing window by double-clicking it in the
image display field.

Tips:

1. This operation only deletes the image from the report editing window, the copy of which

in the report file remains.

2. Deleting images from the report file


Select the image you want to delete in the image display field, right-click and select Delete in

the pop-up menu to completely delete it from the report file.

Saving images

Select the image you want to save in the image display field, right-click and select [Save As]
in the pop-up menu, then select a directory in the pop-up dialog box to save the selected image in
the .jpg image format.

Creating a new page

Move the cursor to the desired position, click [Page break] button on the upper toolbar
to let the system automatically insert a blank page at the current cursor position.

Deleting a page

You can delete a page after clearing the contents in it and moving the cursor to the
appropriate position.

Layout switching

You can switch the report layout mode in a pop-up menu after clicking the [Layout] button

on the report toolbar in which four options are provided: Simple layout,
Panorama layout, Panorama + 3D layout and General layout.
a. Simple layout: Images in the report will be arranged in the order they were added. Under
simple layout, users cannot adjust the size and position of images.

b. Panoramic layout: In this layout mode, the report display window is divided into two fields,
the upper one of which shows a panoramic image, while the lower one is further divided into
multiple smaller windows, each showing an inserted image (the number of such smaller windows
equals to that of inserted images).

1. A report window adopting the panoramic layout can only contain one panoramic image.

c. Panorama + 3D layout: In this layout mode, the report display window is divided into two
fields, the upper one of which shows a panoramic image and a 3D model in two separate windows,
while the lower one is further divided into multiple smaller windows, each showing an inserted
image (the number of such smaller windows equals to that of inserted images).

d. General layout: In this layout, the user can set the number of rows for image display.

e. Custom layout: To create a custom layout template, click [Custom] on the report
toolbar to bring out the custom template interface, where you can add patient information (patient

Insert images

Click [Image] on the report toolbar, select the image to be inserted in the pop-up dialog box,

Saving a report

automatically saved to a local directory as a word document.

b. Click [Export as PDF on the report toolbar to save the current report to a local
directory as a PDF file.

Report printing

To print the report through a general printer, just click on [Print] or [Quick Print] on the report
toolbar.

Film printing

1. Setting up a film printer


1. Navigate through [Configuration]-> [System Configuration]-> [Node Configuration] and
click [Add] to add a DICOM printer.

you can enter printer name, IP address, printer AETitle and port number and set parameters related

Sharing reports via WeChat

WeChat sharing function for B-end (clinic) and C-end (patient) users makes it convenient for
the clinic to collect patient information and for the users to view and share reports anytime,
anywhere.
Navigate to [Configuration]-> [System Configuration]-> [Cloud Service], check [Report
Sharing] and enter the clinic ID authorized to use, all as shown in Figure 8-14.

After clicking [OK], a [Share] button will appear on the report toolbar. Click on this
button to bring out the [Share via WeChat] dialog box, as shown in Figure 8-15.

LargeV data transmission service

Preconditions: The scan-available version software can be launched normally, and the name
of the host machine running the scan-available version is [largev-pc].
After installing the view-only version software, navigate to [Configuration]-> [System
Configuration]-> [Node Configuration] to automatically generate a built-in node with the host name
largev-pc, as shown below:

Navigate to the top of the patient profile page, click [Local] and select [SmartV] node in the
drop-down list, as shown in Figure 9-2.

The patient records of the corresponding node will appear on the patient list. Double-click a
record to download the latest images of the corresponding patient, which automatically opens after
being successfully downloaded.

1. Configuring the node

a CGET service node as shown below:

Uploading images to PACS

[Storage] service node as shown below:

Items under the system configuration field include General settings, Data management, Node
configuration, Image configuration, Measurement marks, Neural tube, Cloud service and Advanced
settings.

Click [Configuration] button located in the lower right corner of the page, select
[Settings] in the pop-up menu to bring out [System Configuration] window as shown in Figure 9-1.

General settings

Items under General settings include Update settings, Logs, Login and Automatic logout.
Update settings
By default [Check and Ask for updates] is selected so that when there is a software update on
the server side, the software will prompt the user for update at startup, at which time, the user can
click [OK] to update the software automatically. If [Do not Check for Updates] is checked, the
software will not show any prompt for software updates on the server side.
Updating the view-only version
For the view-only version, LAN-based automatic upgrade can be achieved after finishing
configuring the SmartV built-in node [largev-pc].
Logs
The user can set logging level through the log configuration (default is [Error]) and click [View
Log] to view the software operation record.
Login settings
[Login by Username and Password] The user is required to provide both a username and
password.
[Login by Username] The user is required to provide a username.
[Login without Entering Username and Password] Users can log in directly without providing
a username and password.
Automatic logout
The field is used to set a no-operation time period after which the software will automatically
log out, options of which include: Never, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour.

Tip:

Use the [Restore Default] button with caution, because its function is to restore all system

configurations to their default values (not just the setting items on this page).

Data management

Items under the data management tab include Data Storage Path, Automatic Patient ID
Generation, Delete Image Data and Export Patient Profiles to Excel, etc.

Data storage
The software supports user-defined data storage path.
Automatic patient ID generation
When this item is checked, the system will automatically assign IDs to newly created patients;
if not the user needs to manually enter the patient IDs.
Always open the image after scanning
When this item is checked, the system will automatically open the original image after scanning;
if not the original image won't be opened after scanning.
Automatically upload to PACS

If there is configured storage backup node, checking this item means that the system will
automatically upload the patient's images to the PACS system at a specified time interval.
Delete records and files
After checking this item, when deleting a patient record, the original file related to the record
will also be deleted, so this function should be used with caution.

Tip:

The function [Delete Records and Files] should be used with caution because it involves the
risk of losing the original files.

Delete image data


Click [Click & Clean] to delete local original data in batches according to the image creation
time and type.
Export patient profiles to Excel.
Use this field to export patient records to Excel according to image creation time and type.

Node configuration

There are multiple types of configurable network nodes, including SmartV, CGet, Worklist,
and storage node.

Image configuration

This field is used to set parameters for 2D images and CT images.

position mark, and automatic alignment (with head-side auriculares)
3D model display quality
Options include: Auto, High, Medium and Low.
Other items in this field include Default slice layers, Image optimization, Default spacing and
Default width (under Cross-section) and default thickness (under Panoramic view).

Measurement marks

Click on the corresponding fields to configure the color of the measurement tracks, text
comments and arrow marks (distance measurement, angle measurement, curve measurement,
rectangular area measurement) or change the font size of the text comment.

Cloud service

After activating the cloud storage function, users can upload patient data to the cloud server or
download data from the cloud server.
After entering the activation code, the software will automatically check the item [Enable
Cloud Storage Function],

after which navigate to the patient profile page, click [Local] and select [Cloud] in the drop-
down list to obtain the patient list from the cloud server, then double-click any item on the list to
download the relevant data to a local folder.
After selecting a thumbnail image, click [Upload data] below it and select a [Cloud storage
service] node to upload the patient image to the corresponding cloud server.

Advanced settings

This field is used to set the model and the serial number of the hardware device connected with
the software, and the working mode of the scan control program (automatic search or search by
directory).

User Management

Assigning a user role

Roles determine user permissions, so when creating a new user, it is required to assign a role
to this user.

Click [Configuration] in the lower left corner of the software interface and select [User

Management] in the pop-up menu to bring up the [User Management] window


as shown in Figure 11-1.

By clicking [Permission Management] you can see the system's built-in role [Operation
Technician] and its default permissions (the [Permission] field on the right). The user can change
the permissions of this role or create a new role and configure its permissions.

After entering a name for the role, you can configure its permissions by copying those of
another role (through the [Permission Copy] field) or manually checking the boxes below.

Creating a new user

After creating a new role, you can create new users under it. To do that, navigate to the [User

Management] interface, select [User] tab and click [New User] to bring up the window as shown in
Figure 10-4.

After entering the user name, real name, password and selecting a role for the user, click [OK]
to finish the operation.

Switching to another user

To log into the system using the newly created user name.
Click [User] in the lower left corner of the software interface and select [Switch User] in the

pop-up menu , after which you will see a prompt saying "Do you want
to log out?", click [OK] to go back to the login interface and use the newly created user name to log
into the system.
