Slide 1:
Good morning to one and all present today, I Rajalaxmi and the rest of my group will be
presenting a ppt on the chapter Data Handling.
Slide 2:
The PPT will consist of statistics, the 3 M’s (Mean, Median and Mode), bar graphs and
probability, etc.
Slide 3:
Statistics is defined as the extraction of meaningful information from such data that is
studied in the field of mathematics.
Slide 4:
Collected data shall be put in table so it can be understood and interpreted with ease. A
frequency distribution table as one of the many tables in which data is easily
understandable. Its simplistic tabular arrangement of the numerical data shows
frequency of each observation.
Slide 5:
In Mathematics, there is a concept of 3 M’s which are Mean, Median and Mode.
Slide 6:
Mean is known as arithmetic mean which is simple average of a given set of numbers.
The formula of mean is the sum of all observations divided by the number of
observations.
Slide 7:
The Median is middle value of a set of observations arranged in either ascending or
descending order. If the number of observations is odd, then we must add one to it and
divide it by 2. If it is even, then the average of half of the number of observations and
half of no of observations plus 1.
Slide 8:
The Mode is the observation, which occurs the most in a set of observations. For
example, in a set of data of values 2,3,4,7,2. You can find 2 as the mode as it appears
the most frequent value in the set.
Slide 9:
A bar-graph and a double bar-graph are pictorial representation of the numerical data in
which rectangular bars of equal width are drawn on one side and the value of variables
are shown on the other side. The space between the bars must be equal. The height
depends upon the variable. The difference between the 2 bar graphs is that the bar
graph represents data of a singular group while double bar-graph is comparison of 2
groups of variables.
Slide 10:
The methodology of measuring certainty is provided by the branch of mathematics
known as theory of probability. There are many terms related to the theory of probability
such as outcome, random experiment, trial, event ,etc. In the random experiment, the
probability of the occurrence of an event is the number of trials in which the event
happens divided by the number of total trials. A sure event happens when the probability
is one and in an impossible event the probability is zero.
Slide 11:
Tabular data refers to data organized in a table format with rows & columns. Each row
represents a single entry while a column is a variable of the data. It is commonly used in
spreadsheets and the data bases.
Slide 13:
With this, our presentation has come to an end. Thank You.
