College to Careers
Term: Spring 2025
5, 8, 12, 14 & 16-Week Sessions:
Professor: Lillian Huerta, PhD.
I have received and have read the course syllabus and understood and accepted the responsibilities and behaviors that
are expected of me to be a successful student in this course. [Place your initials here next to the dash-
I understand that I need to have access to the technology needed to be able to fully participate in this course (i.e., working
camera, microphone, etc.). This also includes downloading and installing Microsoft Office 365 and having the knowledge
and know how in submitting assignments via blackboard as well as navigating the black board course room. If I need
technical assistance in this area, I will contact ACC Student Affairs Helpdesk immediately. [Place your initials here next

I understand that assignments submitted as a shared link will not earn credit even if they are submitted by the deadline.

I understand if I have any tech issues, I will need to contact ACC Student Affairs Helpdesk immediately for assistance.
Having tech issues will not excuse my late submission of assignments. [Place your initials here next to the dash-
I understand that Blackboard will send an email to my ACC Student email confirming a successful submission of my
assignments. I must save this confirmation email as this will be my only proof that I submitted my assignments in on time.
If not, my professor will not be able to award me credit for my assignment(s). [Place your initials here next to the dash-
I understand that emailed assignments are not accepted for this course and that all assignments must be submitted via
the blackboard course room. [Place your initials here next to the dash-
I understand that the Professor goes by Blackboard’s timestamping of assignments. Meaning, the professor is aware of
the time an assignment was or was not submitted or if there was an attempt to submit an assignment. [Place your initials

I understand that if I need accommodations that I must submit a signed and approved form from the ACC Accessibility
Services before accommodations can be made. Meaning, if I want to submit past assignments or get extension on past
exams and assignments, I cannot since I did not have approved accommodations at the time. [Place your initials here

I understand and accept that if I do not complete the mandatory orientation that I may be withdrawn from the course
and/or not receive credit for the course and/or future assignments. [Place your initials here next to the dash-
Synchronous (DIL/DLS) and Face to Face Students-I understand that attendance and submitting assignments is
required for this course. I will be withdrawn from the course if I’m just attending class but not submitting assignments or
I’m not attending class but submitting assignments. [Place your initials here next to the dash-
Asynchronous (DIL/ONL) (classes that do not meet in person or virtually) Students- I understand that I’m expected
to log into my Blackboard course room to read class announcements, complete and submit assignments, read emails, etc.
However, I understand that simply logging into the course room but not submitting course work when it is due, I will be
withdrawn from the course. In addition, I understand I will be withdrawn if I do not log into my course room for 7 days and
that not having access to the internet will not be an excuse. [Place your initials here next to the dash-
Synchronous (DIL/DLS) and Face to Face Students-I understand that if I miss a total of 5 or more classes (consecutive
or non-consecutive absences), I will be withdrawn from the course even if I have a 70% or higher in the course. [Place

Asynchronous Students (DIL/ONL) I understand that if I have not logged into my Blackboard course room for 7 days or

I understand that I’m responsible to know if I need this course for my degree plan, VA benefits, graduation, scholarship,
financial aid, etc. It is also my responsibility to know how being withdrawn can affect my academic progress, financial aid,
scholarships, VA benefits, etc. [Place your initials here next to the dash-
I understand that it is my sole responsibility to keep up with my grades in the course, schedule changes, meeting, and
being aware of deadlines for class work. I further understand that if I have any concerns about my progress in the course,
it is my responsibility to contact my professor immediately and set-up a time to meet to discuss my progress. In addition, I
understand that my professor cannot discuss my grades via email or via phone and that we must meet either face to face
(for face-to-face courses) or virtually (for online courses). For online classes, I must have a working camera and mic so
that my professor can identify my identity. [Place your initials here next to the dash-]
Our course schedule is subject to change due to unexpected campus closures, internet outages, Blackboard updates, etc.
I will be prepared to be flexible to make the necessary adjustments if this becomes the case. I understand that I’m
responsible for being aware of schedule changes and due dates of assignments. In the event, that I’m not aware, I will
contact my professor. [Place your initials here next to the dash-
I understand that this is not a self-paced course. Meaning, there are deadlines to meet for course projects and if I decide
to work ahead and complete assignments/projects before the deadline, I will not receive my final grade until after the
semester has ended and I will still have to wait to be graded in accordance too when the assignment/project was due (i.e.,
two weeks after the assignment/project due date). For instance, if Project X is due in week 3 but I submitted in week 1, I
will not receive my grade on Project X until week 5. [Place your initials here next to the dash-
I understand that if I submit assignments late, I may need to wait an additional 2 weeks to receive my grade. [Place your
initials here next to the dash-
I understand that not knowing how or where to submit my assignments or where to find my assignments on blackboard
will not be an excuse for late work and my grade will be dependent upon when it is submitted successfully which includes
being subject to a late work penalty or not receiving credit. [Place your initials here next to the dash-
I understand that it is my responsibility to check my ACC email and check course announcements on blackboard. In
addition, I understand that emails and course announcements will be the two avenues for communication between me
and my professor. I also understand that the email that will be used for conducting ACC business will be my ACC student
email address otherwise using another email address will result in my professor not receiving my email. [Place your
initials here next to the dash-
I understand that my professor will respond to my emails within 48 hours. If I email my professor on a Friday, Saturday, or
Sunday, the soonest that my professor will respond will be on Wednesday. Therefore, I understand that I should avoid
working on assignments at the last minute in case I have any questions. [Place your initials here next to the dash-
I understand that I must maintain a professional manner in participating in this course and when interacting with my
professor, classmates, and guest speakers. This also includes emails that are exchanged between me and my professor
and classmates. I will follow the etiquette guidelines when emailing my professor found here. [Place your initials here

I understand that in the event that my behavior is considered disrespectful, disruptive, threatening, etc., I may be asked to
leave the class (face to face) and/or removed from the class (synchronous and asynchronous), and depending upon the
extent of the behavior I will be reported to ACC Campus Police and ACC CARES. [Place your initials here next to the

I have carefully reviewed and understand both course and college policies. [Place your initials here next to the dash-]
I understand that if I have an issue that I can always speak with my professor, first for support. [Place your initials here next to
the dash-]
I acknowledge that if I do not complete any part of my orientation for this course including not submitting the acknowledgment
form, I will not earn credit for the orientation and I’m still responsible for knowing and adhering to all the information that is listed in
the course syllabus, the acknowledgment form, and all other policies, responsibilities, and guidelines. [Place your initials here
