PACCAR GVPD RUNTIME Troubleshooting
Issue Scenarios
Scenario 1
1. Update from DAVIE4 24.41.x to DAVIE4 24.49.x successfully.
2. Launch DAVIE4 24.49.x.
3. Enter correct user credentials and log into DAVIE4.
4. DAVIE4 crashes and the PACCAR GVPD RUNTIME error window
is shown (Figure 1).
Scenario 2
1. Update from DAVIE4 24.41.x to DAVIE4 24.49.x successfully.
2. Launch DAVIE4 24.49.x.
3. Enter in correct user credentials and log into DAVIE4.
4. DAVIE4 home screen is displayed. No PACCAR GVPD RUNTIME
error window is shown.
5. At some point during DAVIE4 use, the user navigates to DAVIE
Settings -> VCI Settings and changes the VCI to an out-of-date
VCI that utilizes an incompatible VCI driver.
6. DAVIE4 crashes and the PACCAR GVPD RUNTIME error window
is shown (Figure 1).
NOTE: Once Scenario 2 has occurred, the user will experience Scenario
1 until a workaround is applied. Scenario 1 will continuously occur until
a workaround is applied.
Workarounds
Figure 1
Either workaround applies to the above scenarios.
Workaround 1
The simplest way to get around this issue is to update the selected VCI driver to the latest version
provided by the manufacturer of the VCI. DAVIE does not support out-of-date VCI drivers and will only
work if these VCI drivers are updated. If a VCI is no longer supported by the manufacturer (e.g. Cummins
INLINE6, NEXIQ USB-Link 1), then DAVIE4 will not work with that VCI anymore.
Once the drivers have been updated, logging into DAVIE4 should bring you to the main DAVIE4 home
screen instead of crashing. If this is not the case, please follow the steps listed in Workaround 2.
Workaround 2
1. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\DAVIE4\users\<username> where <username> is the username
used to log into DAVIE4.
2. Delete the file named “config.ini.xml”
3. Launch DAVIE4
4. Enter correct user credentials and log into DAVIE4.
5. Confirm that the crash doesn’t occur, and the PACCAR GVPD RUNTIME error window is not
present.
6. Navigate to DAVIE4 Settings -> VCI Settings
7. Confirm that there are no VCI settings set.
8. Select a supported* VCI Vendor (Figure 2).
9. Select the desired VCI identification (Figure 2).

*Note: if there is no supported VCIs to select, a new VCI will need to be obtained to continue to use
DAVIE4 from the 24.49 version onwards.
