Chapter-3 Final

The study examines the impact of artificial intelligence on students' decision-making, laziness, and privacy in educational settings at Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology. It employs a descriptive-comparative research design with a sample of 276 Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Science students, utilizing a structured questionnaire for data collection. Statistical methods, including frequency analysis and ANOVA, will be used to analyze the data collected from the respondents.

METHODOLOGY

This part of the study presents the research design that will be used

for this study, respondents of the study, the research instrument, data

gathering procedure and statistical treatment.

Research Design

This study will employ descriptive research design. Descriptive-

comparative research is a quantitative research design that aims to

describe the differences between groups in a population without

manipulating the independent variable (Cantrell, 2011).

This research design method will be utilized in this study as it can

show the comparative Analysis of AI usage and its effects. Additionally,

quantitative method like surveys could help collect data on specific

performance metrics and attitude towards using artificial intelligence. By

using quantitative approaches, we can gain a comprehensive

understanding of the impact of artificial intelligence on AI usage and its

effects on Decision-making, Laziness, and Privacy and Security.

Research Respondents

The participants of this research are college students of Agusan del

sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) who are

currently

registered in Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Science (BSED

Science). The overall population consists of 276 students from different

year

and section. A Simple random sampling method was used, targeting

particular year levels and sections, to guarantee a manageable and

inclusive

sample from the population. Furthermore, Random sampling was

employed

in the chosen clusters to ensure that all individuals had an equal chance
of

participating the study. The researchers use the Slovin’s formula

n=N/(1+Ne2).

Research Instruments

This study will utilize the adoptive questionnaire to survey Bachelor of

Secondary Education Major in Science (BSED Science) students in ASSCAT.
In examining the impact of artificial intelligence, the questionnaire
developed base on the study’s objectives. The questionnaire will be
divided into two-parts, the first part is about the profile, sex, age, of the
respondents and the second part contains the Artificial intelligence,
decision making, human laziness, safety and privacy questions. The
respondent answered by the following questions using the following 4-
point Likert scale: 1-Strongly Agree, 2-Agree, 3-Neutral, 4-Strongly
Disagree, 5-Disagree.

The 5-point Likert’s scale that will be use in this study to classify and
interpret the data is presented below.
Scale Interval Scale Description Interpretation

1 3.25-4.00 Very High This means that

the Artificial
Intelligence of
the students are
always
manifested.

2 2.5-3.24 High This means that

the Artificial
Intelligence of
the students are
manifested.

3 Neutral

4 1.00-1.75 Very Low This means that

the Artificial
Intelligence of
the students are
rarely
manifested.

5 1.76-2.49 Low This means that

the Artificial
Intelligence of
the students are
somewhat
manifested.

Data Gathering Procedure

The researchers will send a letter of request to the dean of the

College of Teacher Education in Science Departmment for consent to

conduct research inside the school premises. Second, the researcher will

talk to the instructor and representative who will be entering at that

time and so that we will be allowed to conduct research. After asking their
consent, a survey questionnaires to be answered by the respondents will

be distributed, Lastly, the data collected will be systematically tabulated,

analyzed and interpreted using appropriate statistical tools.

Statistical statements of the Study

The following statistical methods will be used to analyze data

collected on the influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on student decision-

making, laziness, and privacy and security.

The methods are particular to address the four research

objectives. To answer objective 1, which is to determine the profile of the

respondents, frequency, percentage and primary data will be used. In

objective 2, will be used to determine the level of AI usage in academic

decision-making, for an objective no.3 which is the impact of AI on

students’ academic effort and productivity, will be used. Meanwhile,

objective no. 4 is to evaluate the level of awareness and concern

regarding privacy and security risks related to AI applications in

education, in which can also be used, Additionally, for objective 5, the

researcher will use ANOVA.
