Course Title: Photography Crash Course

Duration: 4 Weeks (2 weeks physical classes, 2 weeks practical assignments and


feedback)

Class Frequency: 3 sessions per week

Audience Level: Beginners

Week 1: Introduction to Photography & Camera Basics

Objective: Familiarize students with the fundamentals of photography and


camera operation.

• Session 1: Understanding Photography

• What is photography?

• Types of photography (portraits, events, nature, etc.)

• Importance of storytelling in photography

Assignment: Write a short description of the type of photography you’re interested in


and why?

• Session 2: Camera Basics

• Types of cameras (DSLR, mirrorless, smartphones)

• Key components: lens, shutter, viewfinder, etc.

• Understanding camera settings: ISO, shutter speed, aperture (the exposure triangle)

• Session 3: Handling and Maintenance

• How to hold and care for a camera

• Changing lenses safely


• Cleaning and storing equipment

Assignment: Practice holding your camera and taking 10 stable photos in different positions
(standing, kneeling, overhead).

Week 2: Mastering Photography Techniques

Objective: Teach students how to compose and capture high-quality images.

• Session 4: Composition & Framing

• Rule of thirds

• Leading lines and symmetry

• Depth, perspective, and framing

• Session 5: Lighting

• Types of lighting (natural and artificial)

• Understanding light direction and intensity

• Using reflectors and diffusers

• Session 6: Shooting Modes & Practical Class

• Auto vs. Manual mode

• When to use different modes (portrait, landscape, macro, etc.)

• Hands-on practice: Taking basic shots with different settings

Assignment: Take 3 photos in auto mode and 3 in manual mode, explaining the difference in
results.
Week 3: Editing and Showcasing Work

Objective: Teach basic photo editing and guide students to present their work
professionally.

• Session 7: Introduction to Photo Editing

(What is photo editing? Purpose of photo editing. Basic editing tools. Adjusting exposure.
Color correction)

• Session 8: tools used in photoshop and their uses

• Basics of photoshop continued.

• Session 9: Colours and it’s effective in photography.

(Psychology of Colors, Types of Color Grading,

Balancing Colors, Creating Mood with Color, Skin Tone Retouching)

Week 4: Advanced Photo Editing and Photography Business

Objective: Enhance editing skills and introduce photography business essentials.

Session 10: Advanced Editing Techniques

• Eyes abd Teeth whitening

• Advanced color grading.


• Assignment: Apply advanced techniques to edit a photo series.

Session 11: Advanced editing Techniques continued

• use or selective color.

• Use of gradients

• Photography Business Basics.

Session 12: Assessments/Test
