IV. PROCEDURES

B. Establishing At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to:
a purpose for
the lesson a) visualizing and identifying fractional parts of a given whole,
b) draw simple shape to show fractional part of a given; and
c) show the importance of sharing to others.

During the
lesson

Motivation:
1. Who among of you love to eat cakes ?
C. Presenting 2. Will you name some occasions wherein you see and taste delicious cakes?
examples/insta 3. Do you share your food to your families and friends?
nces of the
new lesson A fraction represents a part of a whole. It consists of a
numerator and a denominator. The fraction bar separates
these two numbers and means "divided by."

D. Discussing Example 1: Cutting a Cake

new concepts
and practicing Using a knife, I will cut a cake into 4 equal pieces. Look at the
new skills #1 sliced cake how many equal parts do we have? Four.

If I give one piece to Jasmine, how many parts are left? Three.

Since Jasmine received one piece out of four, we write this as 1/4
(one-fourth). Here:

 4 (denominator) represents the total number of slices.

 1 (numerator) represents the part Jasmine took.

We read it as "one-fourth" or "one over four."

Students will collaborate to create and compare fractions using a

fun, hands-on activity.

Instructions:

Form Groups – Divide the class into 3 groups.

Assign Fractions – Each group should identify the different

fractions assigned to them. They should color and label each
slice accordingly.

Rubrics:

 Cooperation- 5 points
 Content- 5 points
 Total- 10 points
