Directions: Answer the following problems below. Write your answers with complete solutions on
a one sheet of paper.
1. Two dice are rolled simultaneously. Let X represent the sum of the numbers rolled. If the
sum X must be even, what are the possible values of the random variable X?
2. A meeting of envoys was attended by 4 Koreans and 2 Filipinos. If three envoys were
selected at random one after the other, determine the values of the random variable K
representing the number of Koreans.
3. A jar contains 6 yellow candies and 4 green candies. If 3 candies are drawn at random one
after the other, determine the values of the random variable Y representing the number of
yellow candies.
4. A bag holds 5 red balls and 3 blue balls. If 2 balls are drawn consecutively at random, find
the possible values of the random variable B representing the number of blue balls.
5. A basket contains 6 apples and 4 oranges. If 3 fruits are selected consecutively at random,
determine the possible values of the random variable O representing the number of oranges.
