a) Input measurement range=±10 mm
b) Center point of the measurement: 40 mm
c) Linearity: 1 % of FSD
d) Output range: 4 to 20 mA
If the distance is 35 mm, find out the following:
a) Output
b) Sensitivity
c) Error due to nonlinearity

2. The following results were obtained when a pressure transducer was tested in a
laboratory under the following conditions:

25ºC, 10 V 6 9.2 12.4 15.6 18.8 22
a) Determine the values of KM, KI, and K associated with the generalized
equation: O=(K+KMIM)I+a+KIII
b) Predict an output value when the input is 5 barg, VS=12 V and ambient
temperature is 25ºC.
3. A temperature sensor has a span of 20ºC to 250 ºC. A measurement results in a value
of 55ºC for the temperature. Specify the error if the accuracy is
a) ±0.5% FS
b) ±0.75% of span
c) ±0.8% of the reading.
What is the possible temperature in each case?
4. A force sensor measures a range of 0 to 150 N with a resolution of 0.1%FS. Find the
smallest change in force that can be measured.

the signal conditioning if a temperature resolution of 0.2ºC is required.
6. A sensor resistance changes linearly from 100 to 180 Ω as the temperature changes
from 20ºC to 120ºC. Find the linear equation relating resistance and temperature.
7. Calculate the time constant of a first-order mercury in a glass thermometer, inside
diameter of the bulb is 4 mm, assuming the bulb is spherical, density of
mercury=13600 kg/m3, specific heat=0.15 kJ/KgºC, heat transfer coefficient= 40
W/m2K.
