Sales by Category by Sub-Category (in thousands and sorted by sales value in descending order)by using
tableau

Prepare Your Data:

 Ensure you have a dataset that includes fields like Category, Sub-Category, and Sales.
 Make sure that the sales data is numerical, and the category and sub-category fields are
categorical (dimension).

Open Tableau:

 Launch Tableau and connect to your dataset (Excel, CSV, database, etc.).

Drag Fields to Columns and Rows:

 Drag Category to the Columns shelf.

 Drag Sub-Category to the Rows shelf.
 Drag Sales to the Text shelf under the Marks card.
 By default, Tableau will aggregate the sales data, usually summing the values. If not, click on
the drop-down menu on the Sales field on the Text shelf, and select SUM (Sum of Sales).
onvert Sales to Thousands:

 To display sales in thousands, right-click on the SUM(Sales) pill and select Format.
 In the Format pane, select the Numbers drop-down and choose Custom.
 In the Custom formatting box, use a formula like: #,##0,, which divides the value by
1,000.
 This will show sales in thousands.
ort by Sales Value:

 Click on the Sales field in the Rows shelf.

 Sort the data by descending order of sales by clicking the sort icon (downward arrow)
next to the Sales field.
 This ensures the sub-categories with the highest sales are displayed first.
dd Labels and Tooltips:

 To improve readability, drag the Sales field to the Label shelf within the Marks card to
display sales on each bar (if using a bar chart).
 You can customize tooltips to show more details when hovering over a category.
Save and Publish:

 Once you are satisfied with the visualization, save the workbook, or publish it to Tableau
Server or Tableau Public if required.
