FORMAT FOR ACTION RESEARCH (FOR 4TH YEAR STUDENTS)

1. INTRODUCTION
Background and Rationale- Includes the general issue, problem, or area for improvement that the
research will address.
Literature Review (Citations) - Reviews existing knowledge/research around your area of focus and
research questions. (This will be part of your introduction, not a separate part)
Research Questions/ Objectives-Serve as guide towards a more coherent implementation of the study
and formulated to explore, understand, or improve upon the area of focus.
2. METHODOLOGY- Outlines the specific methods that will be used to collect and analyze data. This
includes determining data sources, when and how often data will be collected, sample sizes if applicable,
instruments to be used like surveys or observation protocols, and methods of analysis.
Implementation Plan- Details the specific actions that will be taken over the determined timeframe to
address the research questions, as well as roles and responsibilities of those involved.
3. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION- The actual data, analysis of the data, and summary of research findings.
Recommendations- Specific recommendations made based on study results and analysis on how to
move forward, revise approaches, or build on understanding.
Reflections-Honest assessments and reflections from individuals involved on the process, what worked,
what can be improved, key takeaways and learnings.
